I recently bought this monitor for our third child. We've been using it for a week now and it is by far the worst monitor I've ever tried. Maybe mine is defective. It hums LOUDLY on every frequency and barely transmits any other sound. I've had to place the unit about a foot from the baby in order to hear him at all and he is still barely audible. I certainly could never sleep with this thing turned on. Terrible, terrible monitor. I will be writing to the company.Customer Review: Works well, minimal static, good value

This is a great monitor. Compact, easy to use, seems durable though I've only had it about a month. Quality appears to be good. I like that there is little to no static. The price is great. There is an alarm that alerts you if the reciever is out of range or if the baby side is turned off or unplugged, so you know when the monitor is on and in contact. This is a really good, basic baby monitor if you are looking for no-frills reliability and a good price.Customer Review: Baby Monitor

I purchased the Fisher Price Long Distant Baby monitor for my house. I am a grandmother of 6 (ages 5 years to 2 weeks)and I have beds and cribs upstairs for the grandchildren when they stay. Our bedroom is on the main floor.I worried about the distance range and this monitor proved to be an excellent choice. The monitor has no interference or static where ever I put the receiver downstairs. We got this model due to its range, reasonable (or so we thought) price, and brand name reliability. What a mistake. It didn't even work after only 2 months. the dial on the side stopped working, so when it was on, it was not volume-adjustable. It was either high and staticy or completely off. The the nightlight on the baby side of the unit was the only reliable part of the whole thing.Customer Review: Just ok for the price!

The monitor loosely does what its advertized to do; however, if there is a cordless phone on the same or a close frequency it tends to pick up the phone conversation. I would recommend spending a little more and getting something that is not on the cordless phone frequencies.
