Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Learning Patterns RockerCustomer Review: I could not live without this rocker! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this as a gift before my son was born and we have been using it since the day he came home from the hospital. He sits in it in the bathroom while I am showering, and then I can easily move him from room to room with me as I get dressed, eat breakfast, do the dishes, etc. He loves the vibrations and at only a few weeks old figured out that the toys on the toy bar move when he kicks his legs and makes the chair rock just a little. This actually is what made him smile for the very first time!I would have recommended it for the above reasons alone, but now that he is 5 months old I love it even more! I still use it for the same things, but as a feeding chair now also (it is very easy to take off the toy bar then re-attach it). It is convenient to take on weekend trips instead of worrying about a high chair. It is not too big for a newborn, but still has plenty of room for my 18 lb. 27 inch 5 month-old. Now he can grab the toys and make the monkey play a song. I do think that as my son gets bigger and stronger there will be a period of time that I will need to put it away until he can sit with his feet close to the floor, but I look forward to bringing it back out then. This chair has given me many much-needed moments with free hands over the last 5 months. I HIGHLY recommend it!
Customer Review: An Excellent Seat For All! Summary: 4 Stars
I received this as a showergift from two of my aunts. My one aunts daughter had a baby and bought one for her child. So it was recommended. I used it since she arrived home. The bottom brace IS a real pain to get on, I had to get my dad to try. We don't even know if it IS in all the way but it's screwed tightly and hasn't come undone by any means.
It looks a bit uncomfortable by the angle of the seat, but it is wonderful. The batteries last a real long time on it, I ran a batter almost all the time for 3 months before having to change it. My daughter even manages to rock herself in it when she wiggles around. She loves to be rocked in it. She loves motion. However, I don't like the positioning of the toys. One bounced into her face so I never bother using it. I even flipped it the opposite way to keep it from hitting her but they're just out of reach. I'm considering just attaching them to the seat.
I love how you can buckle them in or out. My husband and I would recommend this to others.
Thank you for this wonderful seat!
My sisters 4th kid out of 5, would even go and sit in the chair. He's 5. My youngest niece(2nd) who is 7 even sat in it. Kind of hard to keep other children out of the chair. It's loved by all.
Customer Review: EXTEREMELY 1 Stars
When my daughter who is now 3 was a baby I bought her the older version of this rocker and I LOVED IT, it was PERFECT. I had no problems with it however I wished it had some kind of toy attached to it but WHATEVER. So when I had twins last year I happily registered for and got 2 of the newer version of this rocker HURRAY there were toys this time. Little did I know the toys came at a price A LOT LESS STURDY ROCKER. Both my twins have managed to flip the rocker over with themselves in it. I was very upset and confused as to why I had NO PROBLEMS with the first and this rocker is a serious accident waiting to happen. So I compared both rockers old and new and noticed that where there were obvious improvements to the look of the rocker but the makers took away from the safey of the first one. The old version had a bar going across the back of the it that made it sturdy and the actual rocker part of the chair was made differently so it not rock as far over as the newer version so it did not flip over.
SO IT IS A NICE ROCKER TO HAVE FOR INFANTS BUT ONCE YOUR CHILD STARTS GROWING AND BECOMING MORE ACTIVE DITCH THE ROCKER.
TO FISHER PRICE MAKING SOMETHING LOOK BETTER IS GREAT BUT DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE SAFETY OF YOUR PRODUCT.
Customer Review: Great with one exception Summary: 4 Stars
When I first got this for my shower everyone told me I should have gotten one that had music and lights with it, so my girlfriend gave me one that had thoughs options. Comparing the two, the "Learning Patterns" was utilized from day one. When my son was an infant this went into a cradle form which was great at events or I took it around the house with me and my son slept comfortably while did things. The lite bouncer (that was given to me) he enjoyed for a short time (3 months) until the music started to irretate him - playing over and over. But the "Learning Patterns"bouncer has grown with him (5 1/2 months) because unlike the other ones he can sit up fairly straight (comparing to others)and watch the birds outside, watch his baby enstein tapes or have conversation with me, he can watch me cook or fold laundry without laying back - which irretates him. He looks around in this one which is very positive. The toys are fn for awhile but I remove them and we continue using the chair through out the day. The bad point is that he is starting to lean forward and I don't want it to rock forward to far, so I place a towel/blanket under the front (tightly) and it doesn't go any where. For me it was a great investment compared to the others that he will not continue to grow with.
Customer Review: Thought it was great until my 6 month old tipped it over Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this rocker as a second chair to keep at grandmas house and loved it more than the expensive Combi rocker I had at my house until my 6 month old son tipped it over while reaching forward trying to grab toys on the floor. He bruised his forhead but otherwise was fine. But it scared us all (especially him) and he could have easily broken his neck. I called fisher price to let them know because they could easily fix the problem with a few design adjusments and they basically told me they have never had this complaint before and that any rocker will tip over when a child is able to sit up on his own and that he shouldn't use it again until he is able to climb in and out of it on his own. I told them that the manual doesn't say that - it only says not to put him in the upright position if he cant hold himself up without falling forward - my son wasn't falling forward he was reaching forward on purpose. Again she dismissed me and said he shouldn't be in it until he can climb in and out - so now this chair is useless to me unless I am sitting right next to him holding on to it. And of course I didn't believe her that they haven't had this complaint before as I can see from some other reviews. Don't take a chance with your childs safety - don't buy this rocker!
