Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Learning Patterns RockerCustomer Review: Great Versatility Summary: 4 Stars
Well, FP got me again. If you read my other reviews, you'll see that I've had problems with FP products and have returned them. Doing so forced me in to having to buy another seat for my 4 month old. After doing the research (and reading the reviews here) I decided on this seat. It was the only one in this price range (other seats of this type were much more expensive) that had such a high weight limit (most hold up to 22 pounds, my son is 17 pounds).Aside from the fact that it's a FP seat, I do find the fabric to be a bit loud. Not a problem for my infant--the brighter, the better! He does enjoy the seat and the toys that are in his reach. I would not leave him unattended in this seat as he is now able to pull himself up with a little help from the toy bar. The kickstand is a great idea but, as another reviewer mentioned, does not please the baby who wants to be sitting up! I also agree that a bit more padding would be nice...but baby seems satisfied. I'm excited that this product has such a high weight limit. My toddler loves that she can share her baby brother's seat. It's nice to know that this seat will grow with my baby. Another plus is that the toys are removable and have two convient places to attach on the seat for baby's pleasure. All in all, this seat is a good buy. It's reasonably priced and is one of the few that will grow with your baby...newborn to toddler.
Customer Review: Great seat!! Summary: 4 Stars
OK, I'm a little confused about the other reviews - Why is everyone refering to this seat as a bouncer??? Where does it state or imply in any way that this is a bouncer???? If people are putting their NEWBORNS in this seat, it is not the seat's fault - it's their own fault for not checking out this product before buying it. Just one look at it, and you can tell that it is not appropriate for a newborn. My daughter had a kick and play bouncer when she was born, and it was great for that age, but she outgrew it by the time she was five months old as she was so heavy that she was practically laying on her back when she was in it. She is now 8 months old, and loves this seat!! I feed her in it (much less cumbersome than her highchair), she watches her videos in it, and plays with her toys for hours (there is no rule that says she can ONLY play with the toys on the toy bar - give your kid some of their other toys to play with). It is also convenient because it folds up and can go anywhere with us - very useful for feedings when we are not at home). So, my recommendation is to buy your NEWBORN a BOUNCY SEAT (refer to product name or the box to clear up any confusion about what kind of seat you're buying) and buy this seat for the next stage. It will hardly break the bank for something that will probably last at least the next two years (more if you're planning to have more children)
Customer Review: New model much improved Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these rockers. The first I bought shortly after my now 3 year old was born. I used it exclusively with him and did not have a seperate "bouncy" chair. He loved the chair as an infant, and now is still using it as a rocker chair in his room for story time. It has held up surprisingly well. The only complaint I had with it was that when he was a baby, I had to prop him up with towels to keep him from flopping over, as the seat did not recline much.
I now have a 2 month old daughter as well, and decided to purchase another chair for her to sit in. The new model is great. The rocker legs have been redesigned such that the baby is nestled in the chair almost like a hammock. She is very comfortable with it. The swing bar to stablilize the chair seems a bit farther out with this model, and I tend to stub my toes on it a lot if I'm not careful. One problem I had with the new model is the vibrator. With the last model, the vibrator was in the back and out of sight. My 3 year old now likes to go over to his sister's chair and flip the switch on. The vibrator is very quiet, and I have already run through a couple sets of batteries after he's left it on. He still hasn't discovered the vibrator system in his own chair. But overall, I am still enjoying both chairs and find them extremely helpful in my day to day life.
Customer Review: A Must Have Item for baby Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, a bouncer seat? I mean big deal. It bounces right?? I figured this would never be a must have for our nursery which is actually a home daycare. I only buy what I know I will really use. Well, after several suggestions from others, I bought this bouncer. Wow! I wish I had this a long time ago. First of all it is not really a bouncer, but instead a rocker. The seat is easy to clean. It reclines to different positions for the different ages. It becomes a rocking chair for the older toddler/ child. It came with several toys. One of them is a musical pull toy. Most toys are permanently attached to the bouncers, not this one. This one has velcro loops that can easily be used to attach other toys, not just the ones that came with it. It has a vibrate button that gently rocks baby. Great for colic and when baby has gas. The bar over the bouncer is easily removed so that baby can be taken in and out. It has a special kickstand that comes out to make the bouncer stationary. What I like is the fact that if you use the kickstand and recline it all the way back a baby as young as 2 months or before can see and reach the toys while being comfortable. One little baby is quite fussy at times and she will sit in this for a half an hour or more and play. It was inexpensive and folds up for trips. This is definetly the one to get if you want a bouncer.
Customer Review: Best Little Seat In the House!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This seat is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! We had a "bouncer" seat for our first baby, that vibrated and had a toybar. It was good for...oh, about...10 days! She laid too far back in it, as is the norm for "bouncer" seats, when she really wanted to sit up and see what was going on (as is the "norm" for babies!) The "bouncer" seat didn't "bounce" either, and the toybar was not nice and was located farther away from her. She didn't even "realize" it was there for several months because she was always looking "up" above it, at us! Eventually, I sold it to a consignment shop, and bought this one. My Mom had one and she loved it and so did my sister, so I had to give it a try too. This rocker is GREAT! Our first, now almost three years old, still sits in it and our second baby absolutely loves it! He sits in there quite contentedly, because he's "up" higher and not leaning way back. The two positions work great, and I've never even needed the vibrating feature because the seat and toys kept my baby happy on their own! By the way, the toys are GREAT on this seat...sometimes we take them off to play with them at other places too. Easy to clean, transport, recline, set-up. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this product to ALL new parents!
