Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker in Blue/Red

Customer Review: kick & rattle
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this as a baby shower gift and i started using it right away. I keep in the locked position and reclined. it is very sturdy and will last longer than the typical bouncers. the cover washes great (no fading so far) and is easy to put on and off. it is light enough to move from room to room during the day.

The first few months, baby would just lay in it without the activity bar. this was a great place to set baby when i needed a break from holding him for the first few months. He didn't care for the vibrate mode but that is just a personal preference of his.

Once he turned three months, i started trying the activity bar. Now he loves it (at 4 months)! he kicks the toys and makes them rattle. he can play for easily 30 minutes to an hour and wear himself out for his nighttime snooze (8 hours) and naps. he's starting to reach for the toys, too.

so far this is a safe place for him to play. plus i don't have to worry about one of our 4 dogs walking over him (if he was using an activity gym on the floor). this is our favorite toy and I'm glad i got it.

Customer Review: Not safe for infants who are starting to sit up
Summary: 3 Stars

(I have the previous version of this rocker, the mechanics seem unchanged).

Our son loved this rocker as a newborn (1-2 months). We pulled out the "kickstand" and that allowed him to be in a flat position and he was very comfortable. Most bouncers are too upright fro newborns. Also, the rocker has two recline positions for you baby's comfort.

As he got older (3-4 months), we would push in the "kickstand" in so we could use the rocking feature. He liked being more upright than flat at this age. He liked to look around and play with the toy bar. Also, we could rock him to sleep.

But, once (around 5-6 months) when he was trying to sit up and lean forward he fell over (the reason for 3 stars only). He was strapped in, so the chair fell over with him. I was in the same room as he was and he is fine - he was just a bit startled.

(Think about sitting in a rocking chair and leaning forward - if you cannot lean back then you would fall forward.)

I put it away for now and will try it when he can climb in and out of the rocker on his own.

Customer Review: Not really for older babies
Summary: 4 Stars

I think this is really cute, and when my babies were smaller, I could use it for them. I can't tell you about the exact quality of this one, because I had the older one, but the concept is the same. About the time they were 6 months, they didn't always want to sit in them. They still slept in them. By 8 months, they really wanted nothing to do with them. Forget it when they were crawling, who wants to be strapped down when there is a world to explore? You wouldn't use a bouncy seat for an eight month old and you wouldn't use this. However, once they were old enough to be walking age, they got interested again, and would sit in them. Luckily while they were in "transition" I had a toddler who liked to sit in this and watch tv. However, they were kind of bulky for that kind of chair, and for their first birthday a relative bought them one of those sofa's with pooh bear on them. Later on, we bought them those cushy chairs with different charactors on them. My son is using this version for his next baby and it is a nice chair, but don't expect your baby to sit in it through his 3rd birthday.

Customer Review: if you don't like it there's something wrong with YOU!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of these 4 1/2 years ago for my son. It was the best thing I ever purchased for a baby! :) I bought another one last year ( the Linkadoos version) for my baby girl (born December). She is just as happy in it as my son was.

I've read all of the reviews that are here - good and bad! I have to say I'm shocked at the 3 or 4 "negative" reviews. I'm sure that everyone realizes that with a ROCKING CHAIR, it's necessary to keep an eye on a child that is under 18 months old... that's just common sense, right?! I actually TRIED to make the chair tip (no, I didn't have my daughter in it! lol), and couldn't see how it would happen if you're using it properly. Let's face it... if your kid's feet don't reach the floor, they probably shouldn't be using a rocking chair without supervision!

As consumers, we have to take some responsibility for our use of the products we buy. My only caution to new or nervous parents would be to read the instructions if you're not sure about when to transition to the rocking stage or call Fisher-Price.

Customer Review: More of a convenience thing than interesting for the baby
Summary: 4 Stars

We have been using this bouncer since our daughter was a few weeks old. She is now almost three months and we continue to use it daily.

Pros:
* Convenient and safe place to put the baby when I am busy with chores.
* Easy to move around even while she is in it, so I can always keep an eye on her.
* Lay down position worked very well when she was a few weeks old.
* I can rock it with my foot while my hands are busy.

Cons:
* How silly that the toys face the other way! Do we need to see them or does the baby??
* She gets bored in it after a short while (unlike the swing)
* She doesnt like the vibration

UPDATE: We stopped using this bouncer after our baby was about seven months old. She's very bouncy and tried to lean over while in it. If I wasn't around, she would have toppled over with the bouncer on her. I am glad I read all the warnings in these reviews, so was wary of this as she got older. This bouncer is only good for the first few months. Dont take a chance after that!
