Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker, Blue/GreenCustomer Review: Safe chair and great for big babies Summary: 4 Stars
Our baby is 19 pounds and she sometimes squirms, twists, or leans far backwards or forwards in the chair, but we've had no problems because she is buckled in reasonably tightly. Overall, we are pleased, though it is cheaply manufactured. The screws have needed to be retightened at the base after just a few months use, but for $35 what do you expect. "Made in China" does not usually mean world class quality, lol. Apart from that it is stable, attractive, and doesn't have all the annoying sound effects of many of the bouncy chairs.
If you are concerned about the baby leaning too far forward, then put the toy bar up and the baby can't lean forward. It has a kickstand you can use if you need to leave the baby unattended for any period of time. I don't mean to slam the other parents, but I suspect that their issues with the chair came from misuse. It is much easier to get mad at a product or a corporate manufacturer than it is to accept responsibility when an accident happens. Reread many of the negative reviews and you hear things like "we don't know how it happened but..." If the baby is buckled in and either the kickstand is engaged or the toy bar is up the baby cannot tip the chair unless his/her last name is Houdini!
If you have a big baby get this chair as it will last 2x longer than the standard bouncy chairs which hold infants only to 22 lbs.
Customer Review: Not bad.. could be better. Summary: 3 Stars
I was given an older version of this chair and I loved it for my daughter. Unfortunately, it broke when she was about 5 months old and I had to get a new chair. The newer one is, in my opinion, not as good as the old one. With the kickstand out, the chair reclines too far and my daughter was unhappy in it. The different back positions are barely different and it made almost no difference. We stopped using it shortly after we got it.
Now that my daughter is older (almost 2) and capable of sitting in a chair on her own, we thought we'd give the rocker another try. It's still not much good. When she backs up to it to sit down, it slides backwards across the floor and makes it very hard for her to sit. When she does manage to get into it, it still reclines too much and she quickly gets out. It would be nice if there were a smaller kickstand on the back to make it more stable.
Aside from it being of little use to us, it's kinda big and, unlike the older version we had, it doesn't fold. This makes it somewhat inconvenient to store when it's not in use or to take it on a trip. Maybe (hopefully) this chair will be of more use when we have another child and can use it from the time that child is a newborn, but I wouldn't recommend it for babies who can sit up or toddlers who want their own chair.
Customer Review: Nice little baby chair Summary: 4 Stars
During the height of my baby's "colic", i purchased an insane amount of items. The Fisher-Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker was one of those items.
While my son didn't care about it much during his more insane times, he now (at almost four months) enjoys sitting (and playing) in it. The toy bar is great for hanging other toys on (and it comes with toys of its own). I hang the Baby Einstein octopus from the bar and baby loves to grab at it since it's big and easy for him to reach. The toys that the chair comes with don't hang very low and are hard for baby to grab at, but I'm sure he'll be able to as he gets older.
I would love if this chair would rock on its own, but you can rock it with your foot or hand if you want. I also like the kickstand that comes out if baby falls asleep and you want to lie him back and be more stationery.
I also wish is that the chair vibrated a little more. Even with a new battery the vibrating isn't very significant, however, my son is a fan of items with more powerful/strong movements, so this vibration might be enough for a baby who isn't quite so high maintenance!
Overall this chair is recommended, and it's awesome that it can be used well into toddler years. Great shower gift as well.
Customer Review: Very happy with this product. Summary: 4 Stars
This chair is so handy and stays in my office at work. My four month old son goes to work with me everyday and spends a lot of time in this chair.
My son loves anything that vibrates and we transition from our boucy seat (which he adores) at home to this chair at work. He seems to like the upright (rocker) setting when he's awake, and it's handy for me to rock him gently with my foot if he's getting fussy. Because I move around the office quite a bit, I always keep him strapped in when the chair is in the upright position. He seems to like the leaning back position as well, because it cradles and supports him and he can relax with his toys. I don't always strap him in when he's sleeping in the recline position because he's still pretty small yet, but I will as he gets bigger and stronger.
The color contrast of the toys on the toy bar really caught his attention when we first got it and he still likes to bat at the toys. I like the velcro tags and the fact that the toys on the bar can be removed and changed around. I use the extra velcro tags on the sides daily to keep his other toys attached to the rocker and off the floor. I do think the music thingy could have been a little better, but overall we are very happy with this chair.
Customer Review: Great Rocker Summary: 5 Stars
This rocker was a great investment. We used it daily and even over a year later it is still used almost every day. When my baby was young this worked well because unlike stationary bouncers that only vibrate this had a rocking feature. I would put him in it and rock it with my foot while doing other things and he would fall asleep easily. This was helpful up into the later months as well. I remember a trip when he was 11 months and I brought the rocker to a friend's house in another state, I was able to rock him to sleep and then put the stationary bar up and he napped in it. We used this as a first chair for learning to eat, and as a way to calm him down.
The best part about this bouncer is it's ability to grow with the child. My sister has a baby about the same age and he grew out of his bouncer before he was 6 months. My child and his 4 year old brother both still use the chair. They like to bring a blanket and cuddle in it and watch a movie, or just sit in it an play.
The chair comes apart very easily to clean, and we cleaned it often. It could go in both the washer and dryer, since we used it for feeding it got messy quite a bit. The play bar is not great, but the benefits of the chair make up for that.
