Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat, Red/WhiteCustomer Review: The only high chair I need Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't receive a high chair from my registry, so I decided to wait until my baby was six months old to buy a high chair. My sister-in-law brought one of these on a family vacation, and I thought it was brilliant. I don't have a lot of space, so I was looking for a space saving high chair anyway. This one is actually portable, you can bring it to restaurants and everything! And it's only $30? I decided to forego paying over a hundred dollars for a "real" high chair and see if Liam could use this one. I'm glad I did...this fit perfectly at our kitchen table, Liam is comfortable and safe, and he will be able to use it as just a booster as he gets older. I can take it wherever we go. It's the cleanest of any high chair I've ever seen...you just wipe it clean. One time Liam was sick and made a huge mess, so I just pulled the entire thing off the chair and scrubbed it in the sink - try doing that with a standing chair!!!! I could even use the sink's sprayer to clean the straps out really well...those are impossible to clean in a conventional chair. All my friends with kids have chairs that are completely gross...food stuck in the seats that you can't pull out and wash, etc. This seat, to me, is the most brilliant high chair ever! I honestly can't even think of anything negative about it.
We are expecting again, and since we think Liam will be using this as a booster seat for awhile, we are planning to buy another of these as soon as the new baby is old enough to start eating solid foods.
Customer Review: I don't know why I even *considered* buying a full-size highchair! Summary: 5 Stars
While my husband and I were registering for baby items for the birth of our first child, inevitably, a highchair was thrown into the mix. Family and friends *insisted* we needed one. So, needless to say, we spend quite awhile searching for a highchair we liked and registered for one. As it turns out, we were not presented with one as a gift. This turned out to be a good thing.
Shortly afterward, our daughter was born, and immersed in the daily duties of being new parents, we didn't think much about a highchair again until we began feeding our daughter solid foods. Unburdened by other's opinions, we decided we did not want a full-size highchair, as we originally considered. Too hard to clean, too bulky, yet another single-use/stage item.
Amazon to the rescue! After looking at several chairs of this type, comparing features and reviews, we couldn't be happier after purchasing this one!
All plastic = Easy to clean
Removable DISHWASHER SAFE tray = Awesome!
Adjustable height = Grows with our baby
Adjustable/Removable seat back = Great for all stages of development
Straps double as carrying straps = Super portable!
Very affordable price = At least 1/4 - 1/3 the cost of a full-size highchair!
I have already bought two; one for home and another for 'daycare' (my Mom's house). We will be buying a third and fourth for our second child to be born this summer.
In short, this product just makes sense!
Customer Review: Great with a couple draw backs Summary: 4 Stars
We bought 3 of these seats for our 6-mo old triplets rather than buying 3 high chairs then needing to later purchase booster seats, too, and don't regret our decision. Using the booster with tray rather than high chairs saved a lot of room in our dining area. They are super easy to install, and clean up well. We liked the ability to have them travel with us, and saw another parent use them in that capacity, but we never used them for travel eating.
There are 2 reasons the booster only gets 4 instead of 5 stars from us:
1. The second, cream colored tray is very easy for the children to remove, which makes a huge mess for the parent to clean up while the child laughs hysterically.
2. The strap that keeps the bottom of the booster attached to the chair is set so far back on the booster, that the child (when s/he is tall enough) can use their feet to push backward and rock in the booster, knocking it against the back of the chair. This was a safety concern for us, so we put folded up blankets behind the back of the booster seat, between the seat and the back of the chair, so that there was no wiggle room. This has nearly stopped the children from the 'kicking back' behavior, as I feel much better about using the boosters.
Overall, yes we would recommend the booster. Our 2.5 yr old is still using hers just to sit up at the table to eat with the adults and loves it.
Customer Review: Great seat, NOT dishwasher safe Summary: 3 Stars
We just recently bought this booster seat from our local walmart. I will start with what I like:
-Price
-3 height adjust (my son is short, so this was nice!)
-two straps to secure to the chair
-easy to clean!
-I love the seal top that comes for the storage tray so you can store the meal in the fridge if it's not finished!
I was HIGHLY disappointed in the snap on tray.
- it is stiff and hard to get on and off, perhaps that will get easier with time?
- the part that snaps on to the main tray, clearly states DISHWASHER SAFE right across the top of the tray, so after I took it out of my dishwasher and found the tray was severely warped I was upset. I can't even use the 2nd tray any longer because of the deformed shape. Although this isn't the end of the world, it was quite a nice feature to have.
I contacted Fisher Price about the problem and they are sending me a new replacement tray.
I was told PER Fisher Price that although the tray IS dishwasher safe, they are having complaints that SOME dishwashers run at a higher heat there for cause warping problems.
I gave the product 3 stars because overall I'm happy with the product and the way Fisher Price resolved this problem, but I am still disappointed in the fact I can't wash the dishwasher safe tray in my dishwasher.
Customer Review: Best money spent on baby gear--hands down!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We got this high-chair for our son when he was about 4 months old. It straps onto a regular dining chair and so it uses up less space than a regular highchair which has been really helpful in our small apartment. It worked great for him when he was younger with the tray (it helped him sit up, too). The tray goes in the dishwasher and has a cover you can use to keep it clean (or keep the food off of other things in your trunk while you bring it back home from somewhere). The legs and tray have three settings to make it be able to grow with your child.
Now that he is two, we use it without the tray as a booster seat so he can sit safely at the table with us. I love it's low profile. When we are sitting around the table, you can't even tell there is baby gear in the vicinity. Also, it's super easy to throw in the trunk when we are going over to someone's house for dinner, and it straps to all sorts of different chair sizes and shapes. When he was a baby still, we'd take it to the restaurant and just put him in it on the table, he loved looking around and being part of the action. We've even strapped it inside his car seat and checked it through when we go on the airplane...it is very durable, easy to clean and so so versatile! I'd say it has been the best $25 I have ever spent on baby gear.
