Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat, Blue/Green/GrayCustomer Review: Okay for now but not a perfect permanent solution Summary: 3 Stars
My son was using the Safety First reclining infant seat which was great until he got to be around 9 months old and he HATED the high back of the seat, he was always banging his head on it. Due to limited space in our house, I researched all the boosters out there and thought this one would be ideal as opposed to a highchair.
The pros to this are:
-EASY EASY EASY cleanup, no nooks, crannies, cracks or crevices for food to get stuck in.
-Very portable and compact, easy to pack up and take to restaurant, Grandma's house, traveling, wherever.
-High quality at very affordable price.
However, there a few definite cons:
-The dishwasher safe, removable plastic tray insert can be WAY TOO EASILY removed by an 11 month old. I have spent more time cleaning his meals up off the floor than I care to think about. I finally just stopped using the insert and just put his food on the tray. A little more of a pain to clean that but at least I'm not mopping daily.
-The actual seat is VERY small and if your baby is even average size it won't last you very long. My son is only 12 months old and he is already started to look absolutely ridiculous sitting in it and gets uncomfortable quickly. He is 23 1/2 pounds, a little above average, but we put my friend's petite 1 year old in it and she even seemed uncomfortable. I was hoping to use this booster until my son was ready to sit at the table in a regular chair but I don't think he'll be able to use it for much longer than a few more months. I have no idea what I'll do at that point.
So overall the seat would be perfect if it was a little wider and the tray insert wasn't so easy to remove.
Customer Review: EXCELLENT Booster!!! Fisher Price is the way to go! Summary: 5 Stars
When we were looking for an extra booster chair to take to Grandma & Grandpa's home, we first bought the Safety 1st -Grow With Me. The tray was very difficult to take off and put on. Then, we tried the 1st Years-Swing Tray Booster. I was very disappointed with the product as the pivot point on the seat back was already broken when we opened the box and for some reason, there was a gap of about 1/2 inch between the sides and where you connect the back. So,essentially, there was no way these would have connected---bad design.
So, I finally read reviews and bought the Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster! We have been VERY PLEASED with this product and having tried the two I mentioned above, this is a far superior product! It is a well thought out design with a lot of added features I did not expect.
1) Covered tray---this is excellent so when you do transport the booster, you do not have to worry about the baby's eating area getting dirty. It also works great after you eat when the baby has already made a mess and you rather just clean the tray when you get home.
2) the carrying strap is a great idea as most of the time, our hands are full with either carrying the baby or the baby's things.
3) The restraining belt is a nice design with 2 clips making it easier to strap the baby in and take the baby out.
4) The ability to make height adjustments is nice.
5) The tray can be taken off and inserted EASILY plus it has multiple adjustments for putting it closer or farther away from the baby.
Overall, we are VERY HAPPY with this product--this is definately the one to get for portability and ease...I give it a 5 out of 5.
Customer Review: Great "grandma's house" dining seat! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our 9 month old granddaughter's first visit to our house, over Christmas week. It fits perfectly in our arrowback dining room chair, (I removed the cushion first for the most secure attachment).
The tray attachs and detaches easily, and the upper layers of trays are a wonderful idea, although we didn't really use them much this visit. And the entire unit is a delight to clean up after each meal! All the tray parts *can* go right in the dishwasher, although we saw no reason to do that. A quick wash in the sink after the meal was just as easy. Then, in the chair we used, we could set the tray between the back of the booster and back of the chair until the next meal.
As soon as my daughter saw it she started seriously thinking about replacing the more complex seat she's been using at home because it is SO much easier to clean up after meals and is so much more compact than the monster she's been using. AND, it's a lot less money than she paid! The main thing she likes about the one she has now is that the back reclines for first time eaters, but now that the baby sits up by herself well, she isn't as happy with it. She said she could just as easily use a bouncer seat at first, because the fabric cover is a pain to remove and wash and replace, so she doesn't wash it as often as she would otherwise.
As long as you have a secure chair to attach it to, I'd strongly recommend it for any purpose, at home, on the go, or at grandma's house. Because it attaches to a regular dining room chair, it would be equally as easy to use without the tray for an older child, pushing it right up to the table... no more phone books and dictionaries! :-D
Customer Review: One of the most helpful products I own Summary: 5 Stars
This chair is wonderful for use in restaurants and when traveling to relative's houses, from the time your child can sit up probably until he or she can sit alone in a chair. I have an extremely active child, and between the three point harness and the tray, this chair actually enables her to stay put. We often dine out, and a restaurant high chair cannot properly restrain her.
The other advantage over a restaurant high chair is that this has a tray upon which to put food. (I don't know how clean a table is, and with my little girl, you are asking for trouble if you put food on a plate.) The tray can be covered with the snap-on cover so you can clean it when you get home; or, clean it and then cover it to prevent it from getting dirty as you travel.
The chair has adjustable straps which enables it to be strapped to the seat and back of any chair. These are fairly secure; even my child, with all of her rocking and pushing up with her feet has yet to dislodge the booster from a chair.
The seat is compact, easy to take down and set-up, and easy to carry. I tried another seat prior to this one (Kids Kit Hi-Seat)and found it too difficult to set-up and take down. I switched to this one and have been very glad I did. It is one of the most useful items I own.
My child is able to dislodge the white, dishwasher safe tray from the blue tray it snaps down upon, which can be annoying, but I can't really blame the product for my child's stubborn persistency, and I could always feed directly off the under-tray if I needed to. (She usually doesn't strip off the tray until she is done eating, however.)
Customer Review: GREAT BOOSTER/HIGHCHAIR Summary: 5 Stars
My twins (B.G) will be 6 months old soon and we love these chairs!
PROS
- ITs really easy to clean because of its lack of crevaces, and all plastic, just wipe it down
- Its lightweight and easy to carry
- easy to fold too
- has three height settings for different tables
- The tray is an option, for toddlers you can use it as a regular booster
- the tray can come on and off with one hand, easy for mommy or daddy to do, not so for our twins!
- There is an insert tray that covers the WHOLE top tray, easy to use, but we really havent used it too much yet, just not needed, maybe when they eat more?
- Has a cover for the tray, keeps it sanitary and nice for traveling
- GREAT at restaurants!
- The tray is big enough that it will prevent little ones from touching the dirty restaurant tables, and it also is great to keep food on the trays and off teh tables at home
- Theres a strap on the bottom and back, making it safe, easy, and stable on almost any chair
- its not too huge
- Has a strap to carry on your shoulder
CONS-
- Not that big, you may have a hard time fitting a chub inside, we have short scrawny kids though!
- All plastic means that its also hard, good for cleaning, but not for comfort
- doesnt reqline, not a huge problem, (could cause unwanted crevaces) but it would be nice
- the harness is only a 3 point, as of now thats fine, but I dont know if it will pose future problems
- The harness can not come off for easy cleaning
I love these chairs, no need for big, bulky highchairs. My twins seem to love em' too!
