Customer Review: Skip the "big" high chair - this is all you need!
Summary: 5 Stars

Take it from a second time Mom who is re-learning a lot the second time around......We had a "regular" sized high chair the first time around. It was one of those wooden ones that looked like an old-fashioned high chair. Although it looked a lot nicer than the regular high chairs, it was a bear to clean. I'm ashamed to say that when I dug it out of the basement I STILL found crusted food on it...from five years ago. Ick. Anyway, I looked around and saw the great reviews on this item, so I decided to try it for myself. And I can't rave enough! My child is at table-level on the highest setting. Of course, that depends on your table & chairs, but the adjustable settings really make a diference. The tray is great - so easy to put on and take off, and being able to throw everything in the dishwasher is GREAT. Your child can eat off the blue base, or the white removable tray (with cupholder). (So, when the white tray is still in the dishwasher - dirty - you can use the blue one!) Herein is my only complaint: when baby gets old enough he/she will no doubt be able to pop the white cover right off the blue base. This lessens the convenience factor just a bit, but not enough to make it a really big deal. There is a handy green cover, which is nice if you intend on taking this to a restaurant - you won't get all the goop all over you and your car! We did have a booster with our first child, but I HATED cleaning it - there were some nooks and crannies that food always got caught in and it was such a pain. No such trouble here. This was a wise purchase - and for less than 1/3 the price of the "big" highchair we were considering! I bought one for my house, and one for Grandma's, and had some $$$ from the highchair budget leftover to get something else instead! This booster folds up nicely, whether you want to do that for storage, or to take along somewhere. We will be using this for a few years, I'm sure - it will stay with my daughter into toddlerhood, when I'll be able to remove the tray and back, and use it only as a booster seat. It's great!

***Adding to this review in February 2008 - we STILL use this as a booster only. Love it, love it, love it! Knowing how indispensable it's been, I would have paid much more for it, but it is so truly a bargain!

***Adding to this review in April 2011 - we STILL have the 2 of these we bought years ago, and are using them with our third child. LOVE THESE!!!!

Customer Review: Why buy a highchair...
Summary: 5 Stars

...when you can have a seat this neat?

Upon the advice of a mommy friend, we decided not to buy a highchair. We waited until our daughter was ready for solids at six months to even think about whether we were going to buy one or not. When the time came, we looked and I did my usual research on amazon and epinions. First of all, I couldn't find a highchair that got good across-the-board reviews. Second, I kept going back to the advice of my friend, which was to buy a booster seat instead.

Reluctant to add more baby gear clutter to our house, we shopped for a booster seat and this one got high marks. However, we went for another brand first because this one does not recline. Like another reviewer here noted, though, your baby really shouldn't be eating solids until she/he can sit up on her/his own anyway (my opinion and my pediatrician's opinion).

The brand I bought (The First Years) does not fold compactly, though, so on a trip we took via airplane I bought the Fisher Price Health Care Booster upon arrival to our destination, my parents' Florida vacation home. We loved it so much that my mother and I fought over who would get to keep it and where. They ended up taking it back to their permanent home in Tennessee, where it is now. We have it there for visits and whenever we are there I am reminded of what a great product it is.

Here are the features I love:

1) The tray has a cover, so when you take the highchair with you places you don't have to worry about cleaning it when you arrive to your destination (germs from transporting it) and again when you leave (mess from the baby eating).

2) It folds up relatively compactly. Imagine trying to take a highchair with you.

3) It is easy to put together and install on any chair that has a back.

4) The tray and tray cover are dishwasher safe.

5) There is no padding to deal with, and no crevices that you just can't clean.

6) My child loves it! She likes it at 10 months and still at 14 months. Even my nephew, who is almost 3, liked using the seat/booster part of it. After they reach a certain age or size, you can just use the seat portion as a booster without the tray.

Excellent Product!

Customer Review: AWESOME! This is the best booster ever!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally purchased this little chair because we were going to visit my Aunt/Uncle for the weekend and I didn't have anywhere to set my daughter to feed her. I bought it before the trip and it has been the BEST item of baby gear that I own! I bought it on sale for $20 and consider that a steal. We have used this little chair EVERYWHERE. We use it at other people's houses when we go to dinner/visiting people, restaurants - it works on chairs or booths (in the booth you can't strap it, it just sits next to you), at parks, beaches, on picnic tables and most recently in our boat! I wish I could insert a picture to show you our daughter strapped to the boat seat hanging out having her lunch (with a life jacket on of course!) having her lunch. She LOVES her little chair and mommy does too! It's small and compact to transport. It's super easy to clean up. You can just rinse or wipe everything down. The only negative to this chair is that the top little divided tray is very easy to take off. My daughter is quite the little explorer and figured it out right away. To me it's not a problem, because I don't think she needs to use the divided part. We just use the regular tray and cover it with the other one/cover also when we're not using it. It would be nice if Fisher Price could fix this small flaw. It would make the chair that much better. Despite this small flaw I think that it is well worth the money. I love this chair so much that it's the new gift that I am going to give to every mother to be, even if they're not asking for it. They'll thank me later, I'm sure of it! We started using this chair around 9 months, but that's because I didn't know about it. My daughter is now 14 months and I still think we'll get quite a bit of use out of it. Once she doesn't need the tray anymore we can just use the seat as a booster for a while at the table also. My friend saw mine and bought one for her six month old. He seemed to sit up in it fine also.

On a side note: The second best product that I love is the Baby Bjorn Bib. I found it on Amazon.com at Target. They are a little spendy (...), but again, well worth the price! They save us from a big mess and much less food on the floor. Another great invention!

Customer Review: We eat out A LOT.....
Summary: 5 Stars

...and this seat is AWESOME!! We have the Healthy Care High Chair at home, but needed something to take with us to friend's houses, Grandma's house, and especially RESTAURANTS! We just keep it in the car so we have it whenever we need it (almost every day, it seems)
The straps are a generous length, so you can adjust to fit ANY CHAIR. The whole thing folds up and is easy to carry either by the back strap over your shoulder, or, our preferred method--by the handle on the seat back. We have been using this seat for about 3 months now (Anthony is 8 1/2 months old) and got our money's worth the first day! He couldn't sit up very well when we first got it, so using a high chair at a restaurant was out of the question (I still don't like the idea of him leaning forward and chewing on the wood of most restaurant highchairs). The high seat back on this booster chair and the built-in waist strap has kept him upright and secure since the beginning.
The best features for restaurant use are:
1. Getting a table with chairs is much easier because the booths are always seated first.
2. Your baby isn't hanging out in the aisle of a busy restaurant with hot food and drinks passing by. He/she can feel like a grownup being in their own chair right up to the table next to you.
3. The tray is always clean because it has the cover (just wipe off when you're done so it's ready for the next trip)
4. You can bring books or toys and the tray makes a nice "play" station--which keeps little hands off the main dinner table.
5. It seems to be comfortable-- Anthony has never complained.
and finally...
6. It's just more sanitary. You know where your chair has been, who has been in it, and when you last cleaned it. Plus, the wait staff think it's pretty cool because they don't have to round up a chair or deal with cleaning up when you're gone.
My advice:
Get this chair as soon as your baby is eating solids. I noticed that a lot of reviews were from people with older babies/toddlers, which is great because I know I'll be using it for A LONG TIME, but why wait?! This is one of the most practical, most used, and most favorite baby products I have purchased. Enjoy!!!

Customer Review: Say Good-bye Bulky High Chairs!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was so tired of the highchair taking up floor space and stumping toes all day. Maybe some of you have more room than I do and it's not a problem. For me it was a nightmare. When I saw this I wondered is it safe? How secure will it mount? Can I get rid of the highchair? Is my baby ready for a booster?

I caught it on sale for $19.99 at Toys R Us and decided to give it a try. I had done my research and never considered any other boosters.

My dinning room chairs are the roller, upholstered arm chairs and they swivel too, so I didn't think using one of them would be a good idea. I found one of my old straight armless chairs in the shed and cleaned it up to use. Right out of the box, I knew I'd found a winner. It took me about 10 minutes to set-up and I really only needed the directions to figure out how to adjust the height. The seat attaches securely to my regular straight chair. It is as safe as any high chair.

I put the food tray insert and its cover right back in the box; I don't need the extra work of trying to clean them. I may use them someday, I can't think just now of when that may be. I use the locking tray and I love the size of it. After cleaning the bulky highchair tray for 4 months, it's nice to have this smaller tray, cleaning it in the sink is a breeze. The rest of the chair is easy to clean too, no little crevices for food to hide. The straps don't remove so you will have to hand clean them, a chore I don't really mind, but some may consider it a pain.

My DD is 8 months old and 19 lbs. She fits comfortably in the seat. I could have been using this booster all along. I never needed a highchair to start with. It is small, I agree with the other writers; I will have to switch to a larger scaled booster in the future. I will likely get at least 6 more months use of this seat, hopefully more. I'm not complaining. The smaller scale makes it safer for babies to use and it's the best $20 I've spent.

My best recommendation to you would be, if space is an issue, don't but a highchair, start with this seat instead. I wish I had.
