Customer Review: Really a 3.5...
Summary: 4 Stars

I own two of these chairs for my 2 year old, and my 7 month old...

I havent used a highchair since my first daughter was born, nearly 6 years ago... I found that these fisherprice chairs ARE the answer...

First of all they are very easy to attach to a chair, you use the bottom straps to secure the booster to the bottom of your chair, and then you use the straps behind the booster to fit it around the back of your chair... The straps are adjustable, and very long, so I doubt anyone should have troubles. The booster works best on flat chairs, and chairs that it can "grip" to... It just so happens my wooden chairs work well, espcially since the boosters have grips on the bottom.

The boosters have many commonly found conviniences of regular highchairs... First of all it has "3 trays". The 1st tray it the one-handed main tray, a.k.a the blue tray. Its quite durable and easy to use, and it stays on well for babies... My daughter (the 2 year old) has since figured out how to remove it, so she is in the booster while its slid up under the table top. The next tray is tray #2, or the white tray... it snaps on easily, and snaps off just as quickly... the only problems are (1) it doesnt cover the entire main tray, and (2) my baby was able to remove this tray in seconds, so we have both of them stoed away underneath the sink. And the last tray is the 3rd tray, the clear green cover... I am not too sure what use this tray provides, so it too remains underneath the sink. Along with the tray, the three point harness (that doesnt remove for cleaning and just happens to be WHITE!) contains the kids well, and niether of them have ever climbed, or fallen out.

As far as adjustable features go, there are many... Firstly, the chair has a few hieght settings so the tray can fit ontop of your table (which ours does) or the whole chair can slide underneath the table (which it does). There are also a few tray adjustments, but I find the farther you pull the tray out, the flimsier it becomes... but luckily, my son is still on the first level... The chair also can be used with the back, or without the back, and with the tray, or without the tray... Currently my daughter is still using the back, with no tray... and my son is using the back and the tray...

It would be a great "grow with me" booster if it were not for one thing, its tiny! My daughter is a little stringbean (tall and thin) and she is even rapidly outgrowing the confienments of the fisherprice booster! I recently purchased two hook-on chairs for them, and have been seeing which they prefer... and it seems that my toddler wants the hook-on chair, while my baby could care less! I am now giving my daughters booster to a friend, and leaving my baby in the booster until maybe age 1, only because (1) its easier to feed him while the booster is facing me, rather than at an odd angle while the hook on is at the table, (2) because the booster has a tray for self-feeding, and (3) because he is a bit TOO small for the hook on chair...

I would highly recomend purchasing a fisher price booster if you have a small child starting on solids, but once they get the hand of self-feeding, purchase a different booster, because quite frankly this one is just too small (although cleaning is a breeze with the lack of nooks and crannies!). And I would also like to add in that the boosters are much harder to travel with than the hook-ons...

Customer Review: Healthy Care Booster Seat is my favorite overall choice!
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally purchased and used a First Years 4-stage reclining booster seat. It was great in the beginning until the baby could sit upright. However, the reclining feature meant that the back of the booster seat was several inches from the back of the chair even when not needed. This meant the kitchen chair chair couldn't be pushed in as much--only to the back of the booster seat. This was a nuisance since our kitchen was small, and toes were constantly stubbed on that kitchen chair that was sticking out. I realized later I could have just utilized the swing, car seat, or bouncy-type seat for those first few months when feeding the baby. Also, the base seat is not all one part so the food get stuck in those crevices. It doesn't fold up any smaller either if you wanted to take it to use elsewhere.

I ended up selling this for a loss and buying the Healthy Care Booster Seat by Fisher Price.

I like the Fisher-Price Healthy Care Booster seat for many reasons!

It has three height settings. This allows for the child to grow. It is also handy because the lower height means the seat and tray can be pushed completely under the table when not in use. In other words, the kitchen chair doesn't stick out any further from the table than it would if the seat wasn't installed.

The base is one piece so it's easy to clean. No crevices for food to get stuck in.

The waist straps come out of the back instead of from the seat. This means two less holes for food to get caught in. The crotch strap does come out of the base, but I haven't noticed food getting stuck in this. I think it because the tray covers this part, and it's not as accessible to little hands as the side of the seat.

The straps are easy to remove in order to wash if necessary. I just use a mild soap like Dreft. Don't use harsh cleaners like bleach because it will weaken the straps.

The booster seat secures to the kitchen seat two ways. A strap goes around the back of the chair, and a strap goes under the chair. Both straps are very adjustable and are easy to connect/disconnect.

The tray is adjustable. It snaps onto one of three plastic notches on each side of the seat.

It has one flat tray that can be used by itself or with the convenient snap in tray that includes a cupholder. This removable tray features makes it easy to wash the tray in the dishwasher and take up less space in the dishwasher too. A cover is also included that snaps over the top of the trays to keep the clean until needed again.

The booster seat is portable. The back of the seat folds down. The base is also height adjustable and can be made smaller if needed to make the seat smaller height-wise. I snap the tray on facing the other way so it doesn't take up as much space width-wise too. The straps come in handy to carry the seat if needed too.

Later, the back is removable. The base can just be used by itself.

I feel this seat will last my baby until she is tall enough to sit at the table without a "boost".

I haven't found a seat that is easier to clean, more adjustable, and as portable as this one. It is a great alternative to those bulky highchairs that I used with the older kids! I've been using the seat approximately 6 months now, and it's held up well!

Customer Review: No need for a full sized high chair
Summary: 5 Stars

This is really the perfect high chair. We love it. It straps on to an adult chair--we have too many adult chairs already, so not having to add Yet Another Large Baby Object was such a plus--we ended up getting rid of the full sized chair at my mom's house and replacing it with this! Better yet, the straps are well attached, so they don't fall out (like safety first's did) so it's always easy to attach it and detach it properly, every time, without fail.

It is exceedingly portable. It takes about a minute to fold it down and pack it up for travel, and when clipped properly, it can be slung over a shoulder and packed hands-free. Yay! Between this, a good mei tai baby carrier and the Kidco Peapod Travel bed, I can carry my child, a diaper bag, her bed and her high chair and STILL have two free hands. Makes loading and unloading from a trip ultra fast. Unpacking it is just as easy, and they did the brilliant extra touch of a lid to keep the high chair tray clean on the go. Take it out of the dishwasher, snap on the lid, fold up everything and toss it in the back of the minivan, and you still have a shmutz-free surface for baby to eat off of!

Cleaning is possibly the place this shines the most. We tend to use it once with the extra feeder tray snapped on, wipe everything down, feed another meal without the extra tray, and then unclip the whole business, take it over to the sink and hose it down. All the tray parts get washed in the dishwasher and there are NO CRANNIES on the seat for food to lodge in. Very easy cleanup.

The tray snaps on easily and snaps off, but the baby can't do it without our help. Perfect. The seatbelt can only be used "correctly", unlike other seats where you have to thread the crotch strap, this one requires that the crotch strap be used every time and it is very adjustable, so we get a snug fit each and every time. And if she eats so much that her little tummy pushes up against the tray? We just shift the tray out a notch and she's comfy. With a small baby who needs to grow, we especially like this feature.

The smaller tray is actually a plus for motor skills--our baby can, unlike with her big graco high chair, reach every point on the tray with her hands, so she isn't constantly frustrated by pushing food just out of reach.

Anyway, I love this so much I'm buying a second one for my house so we don't have to deal with our Safety First chair anymore. I'm tempted to get two, we like them so much! That way I can have one for the house, one for the car, and one for Mom's house, because while the seat folds and transports easily, I'm perfectly capable of forgetting to fold it and transport it!

Oh, and unlike the Safety First seat we used, this one boosts up and down quickly, easily, and logically. I still haven't figured that out on the other one, and now that I'm buying a second one, I won't have to!

ETA: We now have three of these, one for my sister's tiny little girl (13 pounds at 7 months old) at our house and at my mother's house, and one for my 35 pound 4 year old, who STILL fits. Tray goes in dishwasher, if the base gets disgusting we can wash it easily. We rarely use the feeder tray anymore, the base and blue tray are just fine and clean easily enough.

Customer Review: No Highchair Needed
Summary: 5 Stars

This was one of the great "investments" we made in baby gear. My sister-in-law had a Peg Perego highchair that she DESPISED! They couldn't get it clean. With their second child they switched to a booster seat and were never happier. She convinced me to try a booster instead. She is a smart cookie indeed! We had registered for the Eddie Bauer wooden highchair because that was supposed to be so easy to clean, but (thankfully) we didn't get it. I have a girlfriend who did, though, and she is completely jealous of my booster.

I bought this particular item based on the reviews. Everything people have said is true. I wipe it down quickly during the day, and give it a more thorough cleaning every night. The plastic seat is contoured, and my daughter doesn't even notice that it's not padded. She didn't start solid food until 5 1/2 months, and then we used her bouncer at first. We never had a use for a reclining seat. The 3 tray depth settings, 3 height settings, and the 3-point harness have given her plenty of room to grow. The straps on the back and bottom are pretty long and have adjusted to every chair I've ever tried with no problem.

At first I used the removable tray insert, but realized that I was having to clean that and the actual tray anyway, so I stopped. When my daughter was older I thought that a sectioned tray would be conveient, so I put it back on - once. It took her about 2 seconds to flip it off. So for me, this feature was completely unneccesary.

I have not used it to go out to eat. If we ever get to go to a restaurant again I may try it! I did take it on vacation, and even though there were boosters there for the other kids, my girlfriends were using mine when I wasn't.

I did not attach the booster to my regular dining chairs at home. I had a pair of heavy wooden barstools with backs that we weren't using so I put it on one of them. It definitely helps that we aren't leaning down to feed her. I keep one of those thin cloth diapers (not the pre-folded) on the stool under the booster seat. I brush off the crumbs and just switch it out with a clean one every few days. If there's a heavy duty mess I replace it sooner.

The only thing that I don't like is that food does end up in the webbing and clips of the 3-point harness. However, I don't think there is a way around this on any product. Besides, it's nothing a little scrub brush can't fix. I'm just the kind of person who wants to spend as little time as possible cleaning so I can maximize my time with my daughter!

As an added bonus, I keep my barstool/booster combo in the kitchen near the back door. Since the tray is usually in the dish drainer between meals, the seat is just sitting there. When I am getting ready to go somewhere, I get my daughter ready and strap her into the seat. It makes it easy to put on her shoes and gather up all the gear (purse, diaper bag, keys, etc.) before we walk out. I'm not chasing her around with an armload of stuff - or the opposite - holding her while trying to get my stuff together.

The next baby is on the way. I am buying another one of these seats and putting that other barstool to good use.

Customer Review: The chair from god!
Summary: 5 Stars

The only baby gear I didnt want to get was a highchair. I heard of the tedious hours scrubing them from other parents, and I didnt want to put myself through that. I was thinking about buying a wooden chair until I saw this in a catalog.

Right away I logged on to see the reviews and I was sold! My son is a mere 5 months old but can EASILY sit up on his own (has been for 2 1/2 weeks) and I wanted to introduce him to his chair before introducing him to solids. This chair is just amazing. Like the previous reviewer, right away I got rid of that tray insert and the cover and put them in my pantry. I knew that my friends just complained about them and the regular tray seemed easy enough to clean. The tray snaps on and off so easily I was dumbfounded. It fits into the sink for clean up too, so I really am confused by the extra trays... oh well. The belt is only a lap belt, but that didnt bother me due to the chairs construction. Its perminantly attatched to the chair, but I cant see myself needing to clean it with anything more than a clorox wipe or a washcloth every now and again. The chair is easy to fit onto our wooded chairs with a fabric bottom, and our oddly shaped dinning room chairs due to the straps on the back and bottom of the chair. It has 3 hieght settings for almost any table and I am so excited to have my son eat WITH us instead of being tucked away in a corner. Its simple to put him in and out, and he never gets caught on it. The lack of padding never bothered him, he sits in the chair contently and will even take a bottle. No, it doesnt reqline but that would only make crevaces for food and for feeding an infant you can use a bouncy chair or something instead, because infants who can not sit up should not be in a chair. Another great aspect is that the chair is all durable plastic with no hidding spots for spagetti and applesauce, I know by my sisters inspection, and her 10 month old daughters approval after test driving the chair with Mac-n-cheeze. Its easy to clean, just wipe it down and its also adjustable. It can turn into a regular booster without the tray, or even further, a regular booster without the tray OR the back. It is small (great for babies) so I think he will only be in it for 2 years (a small kiddo) but thats what I wanted, a highchair for a baby.

Its so easy, and so simple that I doubt cleaning up after anything more than cereal (yes, we gave him a bit!) will be any harder. And I know Graco must be happy becuase my sister went out and bought one too! Its just such a better idea than a bulky highchair, even if you have the room for one, like I did! Its just soo simple and I swear that it will be your bestfriend too!
