Customer Review: Way TOO lound & fast

I purchased this swing about 8 weeks ago, 2 weeks before my son was born. I noticed the loud, annoying sound the motor made right away. I figured once the weight of my son was in the swing it would not make the sound anymore. Wrong! Not only does the loud, annoying sound persit, but the swing also swings way too FAST! I cannot use the swing past the first setting, and even then it seems way too fast for my 5 week old son (13lbs). In fact, the swinging must be bothersome for him, because he refuses to sit in the swing. I can only use it when he is asleep, and if the swing is not on. Once I turn it on, it wakes him up and he starts screaming. I am VERY disappointed in this swing, especially for the price you pay! I am contacting Fisher Price about this matter as soon as Monday comes around. These swings are supposed to be a lifesaver. However, this one is not. Superman had Kryptonite and my baby has swings. This one is really a peach. Its motions are completely irresistible to even the grumpiest sleep-avoider. The music is nice. The materials are very soft to the touch and the color scheme is not achingly ugly. My girl is 2.5 months old and large (15 pounds) but she fits in this thing perfectly just now. I put this swing together in 15 minutes. No lie. It's 4 screws and an allen key (supplied) and otherwise snaps together. You'll need a cross-head screwdriver for the battery compartment. It's that easy. I had been putting off getting a swing because they are expensive and I felt my girl would outgrow it very quickly but I was not getting anything done trying to keep her occupied and I cracked, ran out and bought this. She's been sleeping sweetly now for over an hour and went to sleep the instant she was placed in this device. Worth every dime.Customer Review: Unsafe, wobbles and lifts off ground when swinging

Avoid this swing. I recieved it today and my husband put it together. He immediately noticed that the legs weren't sitting quite square on the ground. Yes, he double and triple checked that the left and right hand legs were properly placed and spread. After putting the baby in the swing and starting it each leg would partially lift off the ground as the cradle swung to each side. This occured in either front or side orientation. I consider this swing unsafe and of poor design. We are returning it immediately after 15 minutes of use. At least Amazon has good good return policies. Another note, this particular version of the swing does not have the AC adaptor, it only takes D cell batteries. We looked again at the description and saw that some of the other trim levels have the AC adaptor but not the 'my little lamb' version; a minor point relative to the unsafe frame.Customer Review: Great swing, with one exception

Some reviews have complained about the motor noise; we've found it's only noisy if you try to start the swing moving yourself. You have to turn on the swing with the swing standing still or the motor will be fighting the incorrectly timed motion you started.
My noise complaint comes from the frame and case. With our 13 lb. baby in the swing it frequently squeaks, loudly, as the frame flexes from the motion of the swing. If I go re-position the legs the noise stops, but soon returns. It's also noisier on hard floors, as the feet on one corner or the other tend to raise up when the swing is on one side, then tap the floor when it swings to the other. It has yet to wake our son, but it is extremely annoying when it happens.
Other than the aforementioned frame-noise, we've been very happy with the swing, and the changeable swing direction is fantastic.

My son is 9 weeks old and cannot, or will not fall asleep on his own for anything. After we deemed our original swing defective, I was torn between this swing and the Mamaroo. I originally purchased the Mamaroo, and while my son loves it for playing and daytime activity, he will not fall asleep in it. Finally, I broke down about bought this as well, and I am so glad I did. Not only will my son fall asleep in this swing, it also has the power to calm him when he is especially upset.
The swing speeds are fast, however, that is necessary as the baby grows heavier and the swing needs more momentum to swing the baby the same amount. As to the loudness of the motor, I also thought it was quite loud, but it is mostly drowned out by other household noises, and my son does not seem to mind a bit. All in all, this may be my best mommy purchase yet. Love, love, love.
