Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along SwingCustomer Review: great for newborns Summary: 4 Stars
For my shower I registered for this swing and the Aquarium cradle swing. Since my in-laws live in Texas I thought the travel swing would be perfect and it definitely was. We had so much stuff with us when we drove to Texas for this past Christmas that my husband was going to make me leave it home but when he saw how it folded up rather small he agreed to take it.
My son was premature and only weighed 7 pounds when he came home from the hospital. We put him in the cradle swing on the lowest setting and he freaked out. We then tried this swing and the lowest setting was the perfect speed for him.
My only problem is now my son is 4 months old and weigh just over 15 pounds and he is getting too big for it. On the highest setting it barely moves. The company says it is good up to 25 pounds but it's not working so well for us at 15. We have replaced the batteries twice and it didn't help any.
The only good part about it now is that my son has learned to pull on the hanging fish to make the music and lights come on.
Customer Review: My husband says this is the best shower gift we received! Summary: 5 Stars
I registered for this swing because we have a small apartment and I didn't want another big piece of baby equipment sitting around the house. It has been great! We have put him in the swing outside the bathroom door while we were getting ready in the morning since he was 2 or 3 weeks old. He is 6 months old now and weighs almost 19 pounds and we are still using it and it still works great. My son has been in the 90th percentile for height and weight since he was born and we have not had any problems with the the swing dragging or going too slow because of his weight as other people have mentioned in their reviews.
My son was fascinated by the lights and the fish swimming in the fake water when he was smaller and would often fall asleep in it by the time we were finished getting ready. Now that he is older, he likes to grab at the hanging fish and smack them against the side of the swing so they make a loud noise but he does not enjoy being in it quite as long. I would definitely recommend this swing to anyone!
Customer Review: My daughter loves it! Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this swing because we do a lot of travelling from house to house and wanted to bring the swing along. My sister has a big swing and complains that it is bulky. This swing was a terrific buy considering that we lug it around our house. I have even taken it to work with me!
The lights keep my daughter's interest when she is in the mood to be entertained. The rocking motion is nice. The other reviewers mention the swing going too fast, but I think that it is fine. It even goes a little slow at times (usually when the batteries are draining). Rechargable batteries are a MUST with infant swings. Our little one LOVES this swing. She is 10 weeks old and has been in it since birth.
The only issues I have with this swing are:
I wish that there was a setting for lights only (There is a setting for music only and lights/music together)
The little swinging fish knock against the side of the swing if they get twisted. Annoying until you figure out what the problem is.
Customer Review: So - so Summary: 3 Stars
My son really wasn't ever too thrilled with this. Maybe some babies like to be in a swing more than others? We already had the Leapfrog Learning seat for him and that was so much more entertaining from day one. It had a two speed adjustable vibration switch and also music and a display bar with colors and pictures and also lots of dangly objects to look at and eventually grab when able. The swing is also not very interactive for a baby over 3 months. There are two dangly things to grab but they don't really produce any reaction on the swing. If you have a very young baby that is lulled by a swinging motion then that's really what this seat is good for and that's why I purchased it. But, unfortunately my baby didn't really ever seem to care for it even for that purpose. Plus, I'm not sure why it's called a "take along swing". It doesn't fold up or become more compact in any way. It wld be very cumbersome and awkward to fit into a car versus the Leapfrog seat where you can actually take the learning bar off.
Customer Review: THIS SWING ROCKS!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We didn't get a swing for our baby shower and at first I was going to buy one. Then a friend gave me this swing as a "hand me down" after using it with TWINS (double the use). At first it sat in our garage until one day I was desperate and pulled it out. Our child LOVES this swing. When he is in it he cannot take his eyes off the lights. Now he is old enough to pull the toys and make the lights and music go himself. While awake this swing amuses him greatly, however he ALWAYS ends up falling asleep in it. I love the size- I can easily sit down on floor and face him to interact. I can easily move it from room to room without banging up the walls. When we have people over or are traveling it folds up and becomes compact. I am now purchasing a 2nd one so we can bring one to grandma's house. I highly recommend this for every reason but mostly the lights and music that my son seems to be entranced with. It does go thru batteries alot...but we use it alot. If it came with a plug it would get 10 stars!
