Baby Products Reviews of Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along SwingCustomer Review: most used baby item! Summary: 5 Stars
This swing is perfect even if you dont live in a small space...we have a big house and decided not to invest in a standard swing for many reasons...1) we could take this swing from room to room while baby was in it, took from family room to office to kitchen, even up and down stairs! 2) did not create clutter, we could stow it anywhere, folded nicely in the closet, basement, laudry room, even bathroom while company came over! With a new baby trust me the house will get cluttered!!!
3) its portability was nice, we took it along with us to ppl's houses who did not have kids, our son loved sitting in it...we did not have to constantly worry about who is going to hold him, where to lay him to sleep, where to feed him, etc..
4) serves as a swing, bassinet, lounge chair, and highchair for at least 5 months. Our son lived in this thing when he would be in the family room and we couldnt tend to him.
this swing was a lifesaver, the durability is bette rthan i expected for a product labeled as "portable" i loved it! the battery issue needs to be addressed. We have only inserted batteries once into this thing in 6 months! there is no need to constantly have the lights on as well as the music...those are extra perks if your kid really wont seem to settle down. We mostly used the swing controls and it has lasted us. There is an option for lights and sound only when u pull on the fish, and thats what our swing is always set at. i think battery use is good on this.
Customer Review: Great for family & Grandmas! Summary: 5 Stars
My family knew we needed to invest in a portable swing for a couple reasons. Mainly, my mother keeps my daughter two days a week, and we visit often even she didn't babysit. And my baby girl much like a lot of babies got addicted to her swing early on. However, it isnt practical to load up the swing everytime we wanted to visit or twice a week for babysitting days. But my mother didnt' really have the space that a swing occupies either. Plus what is she to do with it the other 5 days a week my baby wasn't there? So we knew a portable swing was in order. I love the aquarium line and although I have my own issues with the larger aquarium swing the portable is a gem!
It has everything your baby could need.
- Has music, lights, toys, an activation mode so when they are bigger than can interactively play with the swing.
- Low to the ground and COMPACT. This is wonderful because your baby tells no difference between this one or the bigger one.
If you have a small living space I might would even suggest this be the only thing you buy for a swing. It's a great purchase and the batteries seem to last quite a while too.
-- Lastly, it's portable. We love ours its easy to load, store, move, and set up. I'm not very technical so if I can tell you its easy, trust me it's easy.
A must have especially if your baby is planning on spending a lot of time visiting at people's houses or for the babysitter.
Customer Review: Good, but only under certain conditions Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this for our 2-month-old after hearing good reviews about. I was a little disappointed though once we put our daughter in it. First, the incline is not the most comfortable and is not adjustable. Second, it is better for older children who have better control of their heads. Our daughter would look staright forward and never to the sides where the toys are. The music is atrocious and the lights are so-so. No wonder neither interested her in the least. Third, unlike our other swing (which our baby LOVES), you can only use batteries and lots of them. Our other swing has a plug-in option. Lastly, the little fish in "water" don't move much so I cannot see how they can really interest the child. You could have placed a sticker there and had the same reaction. Overall, it is a functional swing/rocker, but not really ideal, especially for a younger child who is just learning to sit up. Best for a baby at least 4 months to about 7 months.
ALTERNATIVE: Fisher Price Swing 'n Glider. The music is better and more options, seating is more comfortable (our baby falls asleep in it or will sleep longer in this), baby is off the ground and closer to eye level if you are seated and it can glide OR swing. No fancy lights, but the mobile is a classic (though would have been better if it could be wound up or was motorized), like the fact you can plug in or use batteries, has a tray for toys or food when baby is older.
Customer Review: Pretty Good but with minor flaws Summary: 3 Stars
Me and my fiancee bought this for his sister's daughter before she was born. I set it up and I will say the instructions weren't completely clear but it didn't take to long to hook up. Whenever I watch the baby she loves to take little cat naps in this swing because she likes the music and the reclining position. The problems I have with this swing are that even on the lowest setting it swings very fast for a 1 month old baby. Plus when you turn the swing setting on it makes this loud grinding noise and shakes the seat a little which makes the baby get scared and cry. I mean I have no problem pushing the swing lightly for her but still that gets tiring after awhile. It's a pretty good swing but I wish it wasn't so fast.
Update: Okay my little niece is now 3 months old and we only used this swing maybe a few times and i really hadn't used the lights on the swing much but now after i turn on the lights for the swing, the yellow light has went out and i don't know how to fix it. Plus she still doesn't like the swing speed. It's still too fast for her. I don't know how they make things now a days but for this to have been used maybe 6 times max and the light to go out is pretty horrible. It seems like they don't put any effort into making these products anymore. I hope that when I have kids they make some adjustments and come out with safer and more reliable products.
Customer Review: A full-on rave meets John Hughes movie for your baby Summary: 5 Stars
First off - if you're a mom who was young in the 1980s, you'll really dig the music on this thing. Think OMD. Think of the soundtrack to any John Hughes movie you know and love (especially 16 Candles.) Listening to the tunes on it tonight, and watching my peanut fall asleep, I actually had a flashback to my prom in 1987 (blue eyeliner, crimped hair, Gunny Sac dress - the whole shebang. Unfortunately, my date came out of the closet at prom - but that's a whole other story. ) I love this product. I think it is the best gizmo I owned over my two kids (I'm currently on my second baby, who is 2 months.) I accidentally tripped on and crushed the first model we had 3 years ago - but am thrilled to now have the new model- which is much nicer than the first. The light show is a trip and will hyp-mo-tize your hunnypie, especially at night. I love the tags on the machine that allow baby to trigger the music and lights... again, the music is very Brian Eno, not tunes that make you want to rip your brain out. Only con is that you have to invest in a whole lotta "C" batteries to keep this Pink Floyd Laser Show for babies light, sound and motion thing going. Worth every penny to keep baby happy while you sit on the couch to take a moment for yourself. MOST IMPORTANTLY - my daughters both fall asleep within 10 minutes swinging in this thing. I bring it everywhere I go. IT IS THE HOLY GRAIL!!!
