Instant reading, very good quality and batteries included. I'm still testing to see if it is accurate as an axillar thermometer (need someone with fever to try it). I am a nurse and have wanted to buy a temporal scanner for some time. It makes taking temps on infants and children so much easier. It was difficult to get them to sit still long enough with the older methods of temperature taking. I am very pleased with this product!Customer Review: Take their temp while sleeping? I think not.

Sure, its a great thermometer but I bought it because in the radio ad's they say you can "take the temperature of a sleeping baby." Well, not my baby... She has woken up every time I put it on her forehead.
I'm going to try a non-contact thermometer next.

I am so happy I purchased this! It is very accurate--when I remember to take the protective cover off! I have had the braun ear thermometer for years and it worked well but wasn't always comfortable --this is a simple swipe and you have the temp in seconds.Customer Review: Questionable

Not sure how accurate this thermometer is when comparing to mechanical "robot" thermometers used in a hospital setting. This one tends to run on the "high" side at times. It is convenient however when using on pediatrics.
