We bought this monitor to replace a 10-year old monitor (Fisher-Price) we bought at a garage sale for $2, mainly to be able to use more than one monitor in our household.
It became immediately apparent after the first use that this monitor performed very much worse than our garage sale monitor. It greatly amplifies higher frequencies, so that if you use a white noise generator or fan, you can hardly hear anything else in the room you are monitoring. Even in a very silent room, it manges to pick up white noise.
The volume control on the receiver unit is nearly useless, mainly because turning up the volume only gives you more noise. As we wish to monitor our sleeping kids and not white noise, we returned this unit.

This monitor is great. Very sensitive. Very clear. I can hear my son breathing while he is sleeping. I bought this product because my son was afraid to sleep in his own room. It was getting pretty crowded in our bed. He is 7 years old. He was afraid I wouldn't hear him if he got scared in the middle of the night. Since this monitor is 2-way, I can talk to him and he knows I can hear him. It works very well. We tried walkie-talkies, but after spending a small fortune on batteries, because we would have to leave them on all night, these can be plugged in, so it's much better. It's a sleep saver for me and my husband. My son now sleeps in his own bed without any problems. I wish I had thought of this earlier.Customer Review: Just Perfect

I purchased this monitor to replace an Angel Care Motion sensor monitor, as we'll be using that one for the new baby and needed a new monitor for the 2.5 yr olds room.
The sound quality is fantastic. With the volume all the way up, it's sensitive enough that I can usually hear my son's breathing over it.
The 2 way feature took a bit to get used to as you need to hold down the button, wait a second, and then speak, so it doesn't clip your words... that and when you push the talk button, there is a fairly loud *click* that happens on the receiving end, so be careful not to accidentally press it while your child's asleep.
That said, it works wonderfully, the sound quality is very clear.

I believe this is one of the best monitors on the market! After reading reviews on various monitors I first bought the Sony monitor; however, after only a year of use, the battery died on the hand held portion of the monitor. Not being able to find a new battery, I decided to buy the Evenflo monitor. We love this monitor! The 2-way feature is fantastic. My husband and I can talk back and forth to each other without having to yell or run up and down stairs. I can also comfort my daughter by talking to her without going into her room. I have much better reception than the Sony monitor and a further range (even though the Sony monitor is suppose to have a longer range). Determining which baby monitor to buy was the most difficult decision in our baby-buying spree - it seemed that each monitor had mixed reviews. I'm glad that we finally decided to go with the Evenflo Whisper Connect. We have a 2400 sq. ft. two story home, and the monitor works everywhere in the house. There is no static at all. We have 2.4MHz phones, so there is no interference there. The monitor is very sensitive, so it took us a few days to tune out the benign coos and grunts. The only enhancement that I would suggest is an indicator for the volume. After doing the "can you hear me now" with my husband for several days, I just put it on full volume.
