We bought this monitor to replace a 10-year old monitor (Fisher-Price) we bought at a garage sale for $2, mainly to be able to use more than one monitor in our household.
It became immediately apparent after the first use that this monitor performed very much worse than our garage sale monitor. It greatly amplifies higher frequencies, so that if you use a white noise generator or fan, you can hardly hear anything else in the room you are monitoring. Even in a very silent room, it manges to pick up white noise.
The volume control on the receiver unit is nearly useless, mainly because turning up the volume only gives you more noise. As we wish to monitor our sleeping kids and not white noise, we returned this unit.

I bought this product to use with my mom who has recently moved in with me due to Parkinson's Disease. The two way feature is especially helpful. When she calls for me, I can immediately answer her, tell her where in the house (or yard) I am, and let her know how quickly I can be to her. This monitor has an excellent range that can easily cover a home that is more than 4000 square feet, including outdoor areas as well. Of course, there is an eventual limit to the coverage area, but it has been more than sufficient for our needs. The monitor is very sensitive and will pick up practically any noise your baby makes, and the receiver emits a mostly clear (slight background static when the volume is turned up to its higher levels) sound. The battery life of the rechargeable receiver seems adequate, as we have never had an instance where the receiver ran out of power while we were using it. The ability to use the receiver to talk to your baby is a feature that can be very useful, and it works quite well in this product. Overall, we are very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.Customer Review: works great!

We bought this after researching for a baby monitor that fits our needs. Luckily, this monitor met all of its advertised features. It really does tune out the background noises without muffling the baby's voice. We leave it right next to the humidifier, but we can barely hear it, and we can hear the baby as soon as she stirs. The walkie talkie option is definitely a nice bonus when the parents need to talk to each other if one is tending to the baby. This thing clicks inceasantly. It fails to pick up minor noises the baby makes and yet clicks and chatters on its own. We already own a Sony BabyCall and it worked great for about a year and then started the same clicking. But at least it worked for a year.
