Customer Review: Not a comfortable car seat
Summary: 2 Stars

Still looking for a comfortable and safe car seat. I really wanted to like this car seat, but the red plastic devices of torture at the top of the straps dig into tender little baby and toddler necks.

After reviewing top Consumer Reports picks, we opted to purchase the Evenflo Triumph Advance car seat. It was better rated than the Britax especially for children who are large for their age like mine. I also like to be practical and was hoping to find a well-rated but affordable car seat.

What I like about it:
- InfiniteSlide Harness Adjustment, it is wonderful to not have to un-thread and re-thread to move up to a taller set of holes.

What I dislike about it:
- perhaps to make the InfiniteSlide Harness Adjustment work, the red portion of the straps up by the neck poke into my son's neck to the point that MANY times I have had to pull over to pull up his shirt or put something between the plastic and his skin, it has left angry red marks & I can see why he was uncomfortable.
- not at all comfortable for a sleeping child, when he has fallen asleep it lets his head dangle at a precarious angle and he has woken up crying 'neck hurt!' and another time it was impacting circulation such that his arm was blueish & he woke shaking his arm & crying.
- cupholder is flimsy & not at a angle the child in the car seat can truly reach it (not that a cupholder makes or breaks a car seat, bc they much prefer to throw it in that endless game of parenting fetch).

Customer Review: All is good.

So I have a 11 month old son and 2.5 year old son. I own 2 Britax maratons and 1 evenflo booster (not sure the exact style). My 11 month old had grown out of the bucket seat and we needed to get him into a regular carseat. We have 3 vehicles and didn't want to mess with switching them between vehicles. We do like our marathons but do not have the money right now to buy 3 more of those or 3 frontiers. I read so many reviews and could not decide btwn the Cosco High Back Booster, the Graco nautilis, and evenflo triumph (they were all recommended by friends) so we bought one of each. So now the 11 month old has our 2 marathons and the evenflo triumph and the 2.5 year old has our older evenflo booster, the nautilis, and the cosco. In summary, they all are fine. Yes, the boosters and nautilis sit more upright then the marathon but my 2.5 year old does not sleep much in the car anyways ad the frontier (by the looks of it) would have been very upright as well. They are all sturdy and both my sons fit well in all them and they do not mind any of them. Britax is more plush than the booster or nautilis but does not look like the Britax frontier was very plush. The triumph looks very much like the marathon and is just as plush. I don't know why I was freaking out so much reading millions of reviews since they all are about the same and all had good safety ratings. I have not had to clean any of them yet.

Customer Review: Great seat for the price

My husband and I purchased this seat for our son who, at 7 months, was 20 lbs and 27 inches. He just looked too squished in his infant seat. He has plenty of room in this seat, almost to where he looks small again! He seems to enjoy this seat more (he screamed in the car on most trips in the other one) as he can see out the windows now. Our state requires him to be a year old as well as 20 lbs before he can sit front-facing so it's been nice to have that option for him while he's still stuck looking at the back of the car. We've had the seat for just over a month now and it went in pretty easily and fits in the middle of our Acura TL but my husband can't drive if it's behind the driver's seat. It fits really well in our MDX however, even though it is a little bulky. That seems to be the case with most convertibles thought and we noticed the same thing with our friend's Britax when we had both seats in the TL. We have noticed his head dropping a bit at the beginning when he falls asleep but nothing a blanket tucked in couldn't fix and he's seemed to have adjusted as it doesn't seem to be a problem any longer. Overall, I was impressed with the reviews and safety ratings and our son seems to be comfortable in it. The only downside is the size, which again, at rear-facing seems to be the case with most convertibles. I would recommend this seat overall.

Customer Review: Excellent seat

After many months of research, I finally chose the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX. I purchased this in late 2008 for my 16 month old daughter. We have used this for about 2 months now. She has never liked any car seat, and still doesn't really enjoy this one, but I do. The seat is big and comfy and seems much safer with the sides around the head area. The best feature(s) to me are the adjustable straps. The shoulder straps slide easily up and down to the correct position and stay that way until I move them, and the knob for adjusting the lap straps are so easy to use. I can see now that, unfortunately, my oldest child was probably not secured safely in his seat. I initially wanted a seat that reclined and this was one reason I went with the Triumph Advance. However, once I read the manual, it seems that the recline position is only to be used with the rear-facing position and my child is too big for that. The only drawback would be how large this seat is. I have a larger vehicle so it is not an issue for me but I don't think this seat would fit in a small car. We are currently using the back seat, middle position and I sometimes have difficulty in seeing around the seat to back up. It sits quite a bit taller than our old car seat. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this car seat and am thrilled with my decision to go with Evenflo Triumph.

Customer Review: Nope this won't work either...

The harness adjuster knobs are completely unusable once installed in a '04 Neon SXT. They are stuck against the car's seatback.

The red tabs are terrible they are a little too stiff for where they are located. Anytime you place baby in, his back is "stabbed" by the red tabs.

I don't even like the ability to adjust them from the front. With all the padding you can't really tell if the harness is at or below shoulder level (for rearfacing).

I gave it the extra star just because in our rented Ford Escape the harness adjuster was not stuck. It has a more bench style rearseat. So if you don't mind the tabs digging into your kid, it would work.

Also, please be aware that the seat where your child's back is, it's not continuous due to the red tab adjusters. So there is velcro on top of velcro and it makes a pretty thick section that could potentially bother your child through a long car ride.

Oh, and I could not get a tight install in either car with latch.

Oh, and the Evenflo buckles are incredibly difficult to undo. My 7 year old daughter can unbuckle and turn my child in the Zeus turn I have in my Eclipe by herself, but with this she can't do the chest clip or the buckle. They're a pain in the Triumph and Tribute.
