Customer Review: This is the BEST top of the stairs gate

I have installed two of the Evenflo Top of the Stairs gates as well as two of the Kidco Gates (the Safeway and the Angle Mount). The Evenflo Top of the Stairs Gate is by far the best baby gate on the market and I liked it much better than the Kidco gates for a number of reasons.
Pros
1. Very safe. My child stands by this gate and shakes it and it is very secure. At the top of the stairs, you want a gate that is mounted into the wall like this one.
2. Easy to open and close with one hand. I find that it's very easy to operate but not so easy that a child can figure it out.
3. It swings both ways if you want it to. You can also lock it so it only swings one way. The Kidco gates will only allow you to swing it in one direction which I don't like.
4. Easy to install. Just screw in two brackets on each side and you are done. They gate retracts and expands so there is no need to "size" the gate like you have to do on the Kidco gates. The Angle Mount Kidco gate comes with 24 different parts and is much more complicated to put together. The Evenflow gate comes with 4 brackets, screws and the gate and is much simpler to install.
5. Gate can easily be removed from the brackets when it is not in use. Both my parents and my husband's parents have this gate. Since they don't want the gate up all of the time, they can easily pop the gate out of the brackets and store it elsewhere when the grandkids aren't around. It literally takes 2 seconds to pop it out of the brackets and 10 seconds to get the gate back into the brackets.
6. Nothing to step over. Some gates on the market give you a small "door" to walk through and you have to step over a piece of the gate on the bottom. This can be difficult to navigate while carrying a baby and is a tripping hazard. This gate opens wide and has nothing to step over.
7. GREAT PRICE. This gate is half of the price of the Kidco gates as well as some other gates on the market.
8. You can paint if if you choose.
Cons
1. The only con I can think of is that it only expands to 48". So, if you have a wider opening, this gate will not work. They do not offer any extension kits. This is the only reason I had to install some of the Kidco gates because I have some stair openings that are wider than 48".
