Customer Review: Great gate-decent price!
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this gate a lot. It is easy to open with one hand but is durable. I didn't like having more holes in the walls but an attached gate is recommended for the tops of stairs. I love that it can be removed easily when not needed. (I, too, have a slight vanity issue like one of the previous reviewers.) It also swings all the way open to lay flat against the wall. The price is right for this attractive (relatively), easy to use, and practical gate. I see what others have said about the bottom of the gate being able to slide out when shaken. If this happens, the gate is not properly installed! I know this because my husband installed a second one of these gates and we had that problem. The gate, however, is not installed level. The other gate, that is level, does not have this problem. When properly installed, this is a great gate!

Customer Review: Sometimes difficult to open.
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought this gate for the top of our stairway in a high-traffic area. We had used the extra-wide gate in our former house in an area where we would open it about six times a day and it worked fine. But this gate, which is used much more often, warped and became very difficult to slide open. We replaced it with another one just like it, and it seems to be opening OK so far.

Due to the hardware on the bottom of the gate and the molding around the bottom of the post where it was being mounted, the gate is mounted too high. The manufacturer should redesign the hardware on the bottom.

The squeeze-type fastener is very difficult to open for those with carpal tunnel. Also, if it doesn't click into place, it could become a pinching hazard for children.

For mounting gates at stairways, I would look at all metal options first.

Customer Review: MIGHTY STRONG GATE
Summary: 5 Stars

Our house is a front to back split. We have a lot of stairs. 5 openings to stairs! These gates have been great for my sanity. At first we bought a big playard gate that we opened up to cover two sets of stairs. I had to climb over that at least 100 times a day! Now we have these walk-through stair gates which are easy to use when holding the baby. Before we also had a gate that just expanded to fit the door way and was attached to walls. I was always concerned my daughter would fall down the steps if the gate gave way because she would pull herself up on it. These gates I know they are locked and they are much sturdier. I like that they slide back and forth; it's easier to get through entries. We used wood that matched our stair case so that we didn't have to drill into the post of our railing. I highly recommend this gate.

Customer Review: the best gate, the best price
Summary: 5 Stars

I believe I reviewed this product the last time I bought 3 of them. Well, I bought another- yes, it is that good.
The gate is unstained wood- you can stay or paint any color to match your decor. Very simple in decision, cannot be climbed or opened by child. Unless you're an idiot it's not hard to open (I have 2 relatives who can't seem to open it, but they can't figure out a TV remote either).
We have these gates on either opening to family room, and at top and bottom of stairs. Very secure, I have no concerns about its' safety at all. My son (now almost 2) stands on the bottom bar of all of these gates and shakes them- atleast once a day each. The first 3 I purchased we have had up for about a year and they still work as well as they did the day we bought them.
I HIGHLY recommend!

Customer Review: Outstanding gate, very safe!
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought two of these gates for our split-level home to prevent our toddler from tumbling down the stairs or exploring the house in the middle of the night and are thrilled with how well they have worked out for us! This gate is easy to install, with the right tools, but MUST be installed into studs for maximum safety. I noticed that another reviewer added additional wood since they originally screwed the gate into drywall which, no matter how thick, cannot compare to the stability of wall studs. We have had great success with this gate on both sets of stairs. It also looks nice with our decor and does not cost a fortune. One note, even if your little one stands on the bottom bar of the gate, they cannot climb over it as there are no footholds for them to climb onto, unlike gates with criss-cross patterns.
