Customer Review: Does its job with a couple of annoyances.

My 5 month old son got this as a Christmas gift. It snaps together pretty easily and I have no concerns over the build quality. My boy likes almost all of the toys. He goes through periods where he's totally engrossed with one of them and ignores all others. He's gone from the star to the fish and now onto the sun. He can entertain himself in this for 20 minutes or so, allowing his mother or I to take a shower or do some house work.
Unfortunately, my son finds it pretty easy to pull toys out. He's constantly pulling them towards his mouth and after a few minutes of pulling on any one toy it comes right on out. He's not super strong. It seems as if the toys could use a more robust attachment method. Once a toy has been pulled out this way a few times it becomes easier and easier to remove. I don't have a problem with him pulling the toys off to play with them, but eventually he drops them onto the floor and gets upset. I wish they stayed put.
My child is 90+ percentile in height. The instructions say to set the exersaucer height such that his toes can touch but he can't stand flatfooted. At just over 6 months, he'd already be on the highest setting if I followed this guideline. There's no indication in the product manual as to why children shouldn't stand flatfooted. I have left it on the second setting despite him being flatfooted. He seems comfortable and the exersaucer is still stable.
All in all, it does it's job. Its a lump of molded plastic that contains my kid and keeps him entertained for a stretch. I really do wish the toys were more secure, but can't imagine getting anything much more sophisticated than this model.
