Customer Review: Gate did not fit 34 inch door opening (see details below)
Summary: 1 Stars

Here's a word of warning to anyone who wants to use this gate: the online product details say that the gate fits 29 inches through 37.5, but the assembly instructions show that the gate without the extension fits 29 to 33.5 inches and with the extension fits 35 to 37.5 inches, thus there is an 1.5 inch gap (33.5 to 35 inches)that isn't covered.

I tried to get it to fit my 34 inch door opening but the pressure points were restricted from unscrewing that far because it maxed out at 33.5 inches or maybe a little less. I tried using small blocks to narrow the area but that did not work well. This less than desirable workaround caused the gate to keep falling down, so I had to return it.

My question is: why design a gate that has an 1.5 inch gap in coverage???

Customer Review: Very Pleased
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a pet rescue organization and always have a bunch of cats in the house. I purchased the Evenflo SimpleStep Pressure Gate (Taupe) to keep our dog out of the room where the cats eat. The cats can jump over the gate - the dog can't. The price is right and it is so much easier than the old-style wooden gate I had and there is no damage to the door frame. It took less than 5 minutes to install and looks good. I also like that I can still close the orginal door without removing the gate. I did apply some silicone spray to the "button" that latches the gate to make it work easier. I would recommend this to anyone - in fact I will be ordering another one for another room but will be having one bar removed so my older cats can go through the gate instead of jumping over.

Customer Review: Sturdy and well-made with a few caveats
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this gate originally intending for it to go on the bottom of the stairs, but we just couldn't get it to work. Too small without and too big with the extension. We ended using it in a doorway instead. This gate is very sturdy and it's not going anywhere once you get it in place. That being said, it's not the easiest gate to install. It took my husband about a half an hour, and he's pretty savvy about that sort of thing. My only other problem with it is that I cannot get it open with one hand. This is difficult when I am trying to carry things from one room to another as I have to set whatever I am carrying down to open the gate. On the plus side, there's no way my child will be able to get it open.

Otherwise, it's a good gate and I'm happy with it.

Customer Review: So So Gate
Summary: 3 Stars

This gate went up with no problem, i was replacing a different Evenflo gate that i had that broke. I use this gate in my hallway. Last night my kids were running around and the gate was open, well my daughter hit her eye on the gate and has a very big black and blue on her face, one millermetter more and i would have been in the ER with her with a major eye injury. When the gate is left open there is a hard point of the gate that is exposed (this is realy hard to explain). I think this gate would be perfect if it had some type of rubber or something soft on the top rail of the gate. Right now i have a thick washcloth wraped around the exposed metal point of the gate. I will be shopping around for a safer gate after Christmas.

Customer Review: not for small dogs
Summary: 4 Stars

I own a "pet gate" similar to this one. One exception, the bars on the "pet gate" are closer spaced, by 1 cm. This doesn't sound much but to a small dog it is a huge difference. I found my dog coming home from work sandwiched between bars and was not able to move forward or backward on her own. With some fancy lift and tilt work I got her unstuck and out but she would have never gotten out by herself. This is a baby gate as it claims it is and may work for larger dogs just fine. I even covered it with pet screen and zip ties and the dog still found an opening in the corner big enough to stick her head through and get stuck... The gate is fine it just didn't work for my situation.
