Baby Products Reviews of EvenFlo SmartSteps Exersaucer EntertainerCustomer Review: Little guy loves it! Summary: 5 Stars
I was excited to buy an exersaucer for our very active 3 1/2 month old son. We thought we'd give it a try even though it is for 4+ months. He needs a blanket around him so he's not too tippy but other than that it's perfect for him. He loves the freedom he has to kick his legs which just touch the bottom on the lowest setting. All the toys are within his reach and he's learning to grasp them and bring them to his mouth. He loves how the little critters on the arch dance when he wiggles the saucer.
My husband had the ExerSaucer put together in no time, said it was easy to assemble. All the toys are in securely, but it is easy to pop them out when I am playing with my boy in my lap, or to clean them off. This toy folds and has a handle to carry it so it's easy to store, or take along to Grandma's.
There are just the right amount of toys on it; not too many, or too few like I have seen on other saucers. Our son is even entertained with the shapes and letters on the seat material. It's worth the money, and hopefully we will be using it for a long time since it "grows" with the baby with the different height levels.
Customer Review: Removable book stops working Summary: 3 Stars
I had just read these reviews looking to see if the same problem I was having was already here... Come to find out I did not see it much but not more than an hour ago saw a display model in Babies R Us do the same thing and actually saw another customer return theirs which was doing the same thing. Our daughter has been playing with this the last few months. It started out with the flipping pages noise happening while pressing one of the other 3 buttons. At first it would play part of the button's original sound and then the flipping pages sound... now after a few seconds it continually plays the flipping pages sound and does not stop until you turn it off... Also just checked the dye on the flower as there were a few comments about that. Sure enough with a wet paper towel I could see a light pinkish color on the towel... Not very much but it was still there... As our daughter has not started drooling and chewing on the flower we had not noticed that before... Other than the flip book problems I would rate this fairly high... I am going to contact Envenflo and see what their response is... hopefully they will replace the book.
Customer Review: We love it - so far.... Summary: 5 Stars
For my 2nd son who is 4 months, I read ALL the reviews!! My first son LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his Exersaucer but that was 10 years ago and there was only ONE to choose from then! My son would play in his for hours if I let him never growing tired of the toys but throwing them off the edge and wanting me to pick them all up again!
I was going to get the Evenflo Exersaucer Mega but decided on this one because of all the extra things to do and the option to purchase different toys as he outgrows the others. This was the most costly of the Saucers but I felt it was worth it if it was a good product that he could use for many months.
It was pretty easy to put together (my older son and I did it without Dad here to help) - he's the engineer! It took us a solid hour but we made it fun snapping everything into place.
So far, baby loves it. I am quite concerned about the dye bleeding. I haven't done a paper towel test on the flower yet to see if it bleeds or not. I noticed that our model was manufactured in May 2005 so hopefully Evenflo fixed that problem with the newer models. We shall see...
Customer Review: Our best baby purchase to date... Summary: 5 Stars
While our son isn't as interested in it as he used to be (he's almost nine months old) it provided long lasting entertainment because he got about four months of enjoyment out of it before losing interest. We never had any of the problems other people listed...it's held up very well and keeps him busy when we need to do things around the house.
Actually, the way we chose it was by going to Toys R Us and we let him pick it out. We pulled down each exersaucer and let him play around in each one for a few minutes...and out of all of them, he seemed to have the most fun with the SmartSteps. It was the most expensive out of all of them, but it also had the most features. It's been so great that we even lugged it with us everytime we went out of town because he loved it so much.
If you are looking for a saucer, I think the best way is to take your child to Toys R Us or Babies R Us and pull the toys off the shelf. While they don't have the batteries in them, you can still see which toys your child responds to. Our son is a bit finicky, so we usually let him sample things before we buy them.
Customer Review: Great Entertainment! Summary: 4 Stars
I don't normally write reviews but I wanted to highlight the good and bad points of the Exersaucer. I bought the Smartsteps Exersaucer when my daughter was three months old and it is fun to see her discovering something new every day. My daughter is 4 1/2 months now and she loves her saucer. I love it too because it keeps her entertained for 15-20 minutes at a time so I can get things done around the house. It's also great exercise for my daughter's legs. Family and friends always comment on how strong she is.
With all of these stongpoints, the Evenflo Exersaucer has one major flaw...the folding mechanism is not durable or user friendly. When I put the Exersaucer together the folding "button" on one leg bent out of shape immediately so that I could not fold the legs. I called Evenflo and they sent me two new replacement legs. Even after attaching the new legs, I find it very difficult to fold the Exersaucer and feel that the "buttons" on the new legs will break if I try to fold the Exersaucer more than a couple of times. Other than the one design flaw, I highly recommend Smartsteps.
