Customer Review: Zackary LOVES his Exersaucer
Summary: 5 Stars

My son Zackary was about 8 months old when we bought this for him, but he was born almost 4 months early, so his "corrected age" at the time was only about 4 months. Since he was born so early, his developmental progress is based on the age he should be, had he been born full term. He's been using his exersaucer for about 6 weeks now, and we have seen a huge improvement in his muscle strength. He is getting much closer to sitting up unsupported. Zackary loves all of the toys attached to it. His attention and preference changes from day to day, but overall his favorite seems to be the little turtle(he's teething, and likes to chew on it). I have read a lot of the other reviews, and am happy to report that I have had absolutely no problems with any of the toys not working. We did have one problem the first couple of days we had it. According to the instructions the baby should not be able to stand flat-footed. Only the toes should be able to touch the base. Zack couldn't turn himself or bounce, so he would just cry. So, I lowered the seat so he could stand flat-footed, and he just went crazy in it. He was laughing and squealing because he could move around and bounce all he wanted.

Customer Review: More gimicks than substance
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this for my 4 month old son because of the good reviews and cool look of the play center. First, you need a ton of batteries as everything is lighted and musical. Although this wouldn't normally be considered a bad thing, in this application it seems very gimicky and serves as a replacement for well thought-out and imaginitive toys. The best single item on the center is the battery-powered and removable play box that has turnable pages. Everything else really gets old quickly (pop up apple box, twisty turtle man, useless cell-phone toy, boring ball roller...).
The layout is very busy with poorly spaced toys blending together that seem to be overwhelming to the child. The 3 butterfly domes serve as shock towers and really aren't much fun to play with. The arch thing was fun for about 3 pulls of each hanging toy.

Pros: Folding capability, interchangable toys

Cons: Boring and uninteresting toys, too much reliance on gimicky lights, music, and mechanical features (pop-up apple thing), expense.

Save your cash and go with the Baby Einstein center. My son can play in that one for over 20 minutes versus 5 in this one.

Customer Review: Good Exersaucer, but Beware of Teddy Bear
Summary: 4 Stars

REMOVE TEDDY BEAR PIECE!!!
I recently purchased the Evenflo ExerSaucer Active Learning Center for my 5 month old daugher. She has been enjoying the toys and all the lights and loves to spin around in the chair.
However, the other day I put her in it and within a minute or two from across the room I heard her begin to cough/choke. I looked over at her only to see a look of absolute terror on her face. I immediately ran over to her and pulled her up and out of the chair. She had the teddy bear piece in her mouth and it was choking her!!!!!! It had not come undone from the tray - it has very little give in it - she had bent it over and was biting on it when it obviously went too far into her mouth - being that the piece is rather "tall" she was unable to get it back out therefore she was choking.
I have contacted Evenflo to advise them that I feel this is a dangerous toy and the piece should be recalled.
She is a tall baby - in the 95% for her age - if this could happen to her it could happen to any baby.

We have removed the piece from the tray and she is still enjoying the other things and loving being in the seat.

Customer Review: UPDATE: **Love the interchangable toys, but not great for tall kids
Summary: 4 Stars

UPDATE:--Since writing my first review, we have had sound difficulties with the book, even after changing the batteries. The SUPER LOUD setting works, but the regular one does not. My baby keeps trying to get the sounds to work again, and gets upset. Also, he has begun biting the caterpillar's head, and has scraped off a lot of the blue paint with his teeth--kind of scary!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: We began using this for my son at 4 months. Yes, it was a bit overwhelming at first. Now he can stay in it all day if I let him. He never really liked the overhead bar though, but it does change out with other switcharoos. That is the best part--we are always changing out the toys, and he seems to like the variety.

Negatives--My 7 month old is already flat-footed with bent knees! They tell you that babies should only have their toes touch, but he was beyond that (on the highest setting) at 6 months--while my son is tall, he is not an amazon, and this should last much longer! The stems of the butterflies also started "fraying" right away, but all that effects is the looks.

I would buy it again, but wish the height limitations went higher.

Customer Review: Too big a hype
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought this because it had high rating, and looked like it was the best of the choices available. It is great, but doesn't quite fit the tag for a 6 month old in many ways. There are too many toys which makes it a distraction and our 6 month old didn't quite know what to do with it. We bought it because of the learning aspect that was talked about so highly - it really is not that much of a learning of the alphabet or anything - good start but not well thought through.

The spinner toy comes with a rod which is too long for insertion into the exersaucer. Evenflo sent a replacement part, but it is still impossible to put into the slot unless we were to drill a hole into it.

Overall, it has some good aspects - but it is too expensive for the toys that are actually interesting to the infant - teething toy is not really something that is "chewable" - just a solid plastic turtle. After a test drive, we wish we bought something else that was simpler - probably would have been more worth for the money. Our recommendation: look at it in the store more carefully before purchasing it to see if it would suit your infant.
