Baby Products Reviews of EvenFlo SmartSteps Exersaucer EntertainerCustomer Review: Good For Keeping Baby Busy Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my daughter when she was 4 1/2 months old. It took about an hour of uninterruped time to put it together, there are just so many pieces. Personally, I think more of the pieces should come pre-assembled. I agonized over buying this because of the cost, but I got a sale (and a coupon) at Toys R Us and it made it more affordable. The first problem I had was the height adjustment. The directions state that your child should not be able to place their feet flat on the bottom surface. I have a long baby, so to achieve that I had to put the saucer on it's highest height. So I immediately became concerned that my daughter was going to grow out of it before she could get to fully enjoy it.
Initially she was a bit overwhelmed by all of the toys and activities and she would only stay in it 10 minutes max. Now at 7 1/2 months, she's mastered all of the activities and now she LOVES to bounce in it. She's still a long baby so I'm a bit concerned about the height, but she seems to be doing fine in it. It keeps her occupied for about 20-25 minutes, which is a life saver to get a few chores down. I really hope she can still use this for another few months.
I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because of the cost. I really think something that a baby can only have for 4-6 months should cost less. And I think the seat should have more height adjustments. Other than that it's a great piece of equipment and it keeps baby busy.
Customer Review: Great learning tool for baby and temporary relief for Mom. Summary: 5 Stars
I was thrilled when I purchased this product for my son. I found it secondhand and paid much less than what you would pay for it new. At the time, my son was only 3 months old and too young for it. He is 5 1/2 months now and loves it! He's going through a phase where he can't stand to be alone even for a second, but when we put him in the Exersaucer, we can usually get a good half hour's worth of other chores done.
We started putting him in it at about 4 months and it was too much for him, he got overstimulated too easily and didn't want to stay in it. He has grown into it, though, and uses some of the toys constantly. There are some toys that I know he will enjoy as he gets older, which makes this an even better buy for me. The feature that we like the most right now is that it helps him learn to stand (and bounce, which he loves) because that is all he seems to want to do right now.
I've read some of the other reviews, even the negative ones, and I believe the benefits outweigh the risks on this one. The most important thing to remember with this toy is that it ISN'T a baby-sitter. You can't just throw your child in it and walk away. Like with everything else, you have to supervise your child while playing in the Exersaucer. When my son is in the Exersaucer, it's nice because it moves easily from room to room, I can take him with me and still get things done in many different rooms of the house.
Customer Review: Great toy for your little one!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our son when he was about four and a half months old. Initially, he would only stay in it for a few minutes and the toys we "thought" he'd like the best didn't seem to interest him, but he took right to the teething teddy bear immediately as his favorite. He's now about six months old and he has begun exploring and playing with all of the toys, spinning around and around, changing the pages of the books, pulling on the dangling things. I also bought two of the switch-er-roos when we bought this and just replaced the cell phone with the "B is for Bee" switcheroo this morning. It was the first thing he noticed and he has been exploring his "new" toy for several minutes (and I'm happy to lose the cell phone! That was my least favorite simply because it'd always fall out of it's case on the outside of the exersaucer where he couldn't reach it. He ended up teething on the holder quite a bit, but that doesn't always make the best toy. Plus everytime he did get a chance to play with it a button would push and I'd think it was our real phone, plus all he did with it was chew on the antenna.)
Our son is a VERY active baby and pulls and yanks and chews on EVERYTHING and we've had no problems with anything breaking, stickers coming off or color leaking from anything. He plays in it daily. I would highly recommend this for anyone with a four to eight month old. Have fun!
Customer Review: Perfect for our litte one. Well worth the money. Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I looked at every single bouncer and entertainer out there before we decided on this one. We went to Toysrus and played with all of them and pushed and pulled on them and did the same thing at Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc.
We bought this one from Toysrus and we've been so happy with it. We bought this when our baby was around 3 months old and now she is 6 months old and she still loves it. We usually use this in the kitchen and it buys us time to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. We rotate this toy with others during the day and it's good for 30 minutes at a time for us.
It's a safe toy and it's easy to clean up when there are any messes. Our little one has had some pretty big blowouts or spit-ups in this toy and it's so easy to pull the fabric out and wash it and to clean the plastic parts as well. Baby can turn around and view the different toys and pull the overhead toys as well. Baby can also bounce in this toy as my little one recently discovered and it's hardy enough that I can let her go at it and not worry that she's going to break it or fall out.
Our baby is almost 17 pounds now and she's still enjoying this toy and fits perfectly. We highly recommend this one as you definately get what you pay for in this case which is a great toy for your little one and a little peace of mind for Mom and Dad.
Customer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
I just received the SmartSteps Exersaucer Entertainer for my 4 month old daughter as a very early Christmas present. I had no idea how many learning tools were on this. For the first time since I have had my daughter, I have been able to put her in something and get some housework done.
I really like that all of the toys/learning tools are easy to use. My daughter was able to easily turn the pages on the book, hit all the buttons that make sounds, and even turn the little butterflies on it. The animals that hang off of it are great because they are very easy to pull on, and just a slight tug on them activates the sound.
But another reason that I really like this Exersaucer is because the activities are also educational. On the little book, there are buttons that say words and letters. Also, on the hanging animals, there is a switch for music and words so that the baby will see the light up shape and hear what it is at the same time.
The only part of this I wasn't particularly fond of was the assembly, but let's be honest, who really likes putting all these baby toys together.
Overall, I think this is a great product, and I would recommend it to ANYONE that has a little one that never wants to be put down. For my daughter to sit in this for 45 minutes and not cry, it has to be a miracle!
