Baby Products Reviews of Eddie Bauer® 2-in-1 Harness BuddyCustomer Review: So soft and cuddly, and works great! Summary: 4 Stars
I have a 3 year old who is developmentally delayed, and she does not understand when you tell her stay here(dangerous situation)! She is too heavy for strollers anymore, so I bought this for visits to the mall, or park etc... It is awesome, she loves to cuddle with it, and it is adjustable to fit larger toddlers as well as the little ones. I was worried about fit, but she has lots of room left on the adjustable straps! The zippered pocket on the back isn't as large as I expected, but since she hasn't gotten to the packrat stage yet, it works fine for us. I do wish the head was slightly lower down, it falls directly behind her own, and if she turns her head a lot, it will tangle her hair, and sometimes she gets mad at the bear for "following" her. It works exactly as intended though, it has already saved her once from getting in the street, good thing that strap is strong, you have never seen a kid move that fast!! overall well worth the money i paid, and if something happened to this one, i would definitely purchase another to replace it!
Customer Review: Good product, but a few problems that may bother your child. Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this product for our 13 month old who just started walking. We got it so that we could give her the freedom to walk when we are out shopping (as she doesn't want to sit in a cart for long). She isn't a great walker yet so we were hoping this product would help us catch her falls, well that didn't work. Even though the product is designed to help parents keep up with their children, not catch their falls, we felt the "tail/leash" should be attached at the top of the backpack not the bottom. Another negative thing about this product is that the monkey head bothers our child. She keeps reaching behind her trying to pull it off. We ended up turning the backpack inside out so the monkey head wasn't against our daughters head. This product is VERY cute, however its semi-poorly designed. It will work for your child as long as he/she cannot get out of the buckles (they are located in the front), if the monkey head doesn't bug your child, and as long as you don't depend on it to catch your child's falls.
Customer Review: Fabulous new friend! Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old who is exceptionally independent and strong-willed for an overseas trip. We have been getting him used to it around the malls here at home and have found it to be great! He doesn't mind it at all - in fact, thinks of the bear as a new friend who follows him around! The flipside of the coin is that he does eventually get a touch annoyed at not being able to go where and when he wants. The bonuses however, well and truely outweigh the negatives of it. I don't think he will be able to undo it at all for a long time yet and the 'tail' is definately long enough for you to keep a sense of control over the child. The worst part of it would have to be those parents (and mainly nosey grandparents!) who openly comment (negatively) on you using it. My advice: IGNORE THEM. This is way better than hunting in a panic for a lost child in a foreign place where you don't speak the same language! Money well spent.
Customer Review: A leash without looking like a leash! Summary: 5 Stars
I am one of those people who used to think horrible things about people who put their kids on leashes. Then I became mom to a very busy and independent little girl who started walking at 9 months. I bought the Harness Buddy for a cruise we were taking when my daughter was 16 months. I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with her on the ship and she will not sit in a stroller for an extended period of time. The first time we used it I started having images of her reacting like what happens when you put a cat on a leash, but she loved it. She enjoys her freedom even if it is limited by the leash. I cannot tell you how many people have commented on how cute it is! It is so soft and cuddly. We now use it in the mall and have seen more and more people with the same Harness Buddy. Oh, and I think the fact that she is getting exercise instead of sitting in the stroller is fantastic. We love it!!
Customer Review: Very cute idea, but not the greatest design Summary: 3 Stars
We bought the bear version of this product to help my little boy stay with us when we're out. He can now escape from the stroller easily, and he is way faster than my pregnant body can keep up with. My husband's cousin's little boys have loved their little "backpacks," and my son was really excited to wear his. However, when we got the harness home, as I was looking at the design of the product, I realized that having the buckles in the FRONT would not work for us--my son knows how to open those kinds of buckles. He would be out of that in a flash! And many other children would be able to escape easily, too. I'm sure that there is a way to design this product with the buckles in back under the backpack so only the parent can access them! We are taking our harness back and getting one with no fasteners in front. Nice idea, but not designed too intelligently.
