I would not purchase Y-Cut nipples or any other type of nipple that is designed to allow cereal through the bottle. The AAP has advised against putting cereal in a bottle because it is a choking hazard. Additionally, putting cereal in a bottle tricks the baby into overeating, which can lead to serious weight problems for the child. Third, feeding cereal before the gut has had a chance to close (anywhere between 6-8 months) can leave a child susceptible to food allergies and sensitivities. Also, there is no proof that adding cereal to a bottle will definitely help a child sleep through the night. If it definitely helped, you wouldn't find all these books on Amazon.com about how to get your child to sleep through the night.Customer Review: good product

My baby also has to have cereal thickened formula for his really bad reflux (as ordered by his doctor i might add). These nipples work great as long as the formula is too thick to use in a regular stage 1 or 2 nipple. The only problem i have found with these nipples is that you have to be gentle when you are using a nipple brush to clean them so that you don't tear the y-cut opening.....2 of our nipples tore at the cuts causing the hole to become larger. But gentler cleaning and checking the nipples before each use has remedied this problem. Also want to add that my son started using these nipples at the age of 2 months and has had no problems sucking from them.Customer Review: Great of Thickened Formulas

Great product for babies on the prethickened formulas. My son is 2 months and was put on the prethickened formula (by his doctor) for his reflux problems and this is the only nipple he could drink from. GREAT product! As for the one stars this product has received they were not reviewing the product just giving their opinion. Which does not do this product justice.Customer Review: Danger, Danger

Pediatrics recommend that you do not feed infants cereal through the bottle due to the possibility of choking. The nipples are still too large for even older infants and babies to maneuver without choking. It's just not worth the risk. If you choose to utilize, please, please WATCH them carefully and NEVER leave them alone!!!Customer Review: Wonderful product

Can't say enough about this item for babies who need a thicker formula due to esophogeal issues. If your Dr recommends your child be put on a thicker formula to help with medical issues then this is the nipple to use. Dr Browns has the best products anywhere.
