Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Newborn Feeding SetCustomer Review: When all else fails, there is Dr Brown Summary: 4 Stars
I love, love, love these bottles.
When I was looking for bottles, everyone I knew used or was using Advent or Dr Brown. Advent reviews were "they are good" or "I liked them fine." The Dr. Brown reviews were "I LOVE THEM!"
So I bought a couple of Advent and a couple of Dr Brown. We tried Adven for a week and Dr Brown for a week. I switched back and forth for a total of four weeks to make sure that his age wasn't effecting the gas. At that point my husband threw the Advent bottles away. One because he didn't like me "experimenting on our son," and the Advent bottles were using his word "junk."
I wouldn't say Advent was junk, but our son had less vomitting and was less "colicky" with Dr Brown. Also, Dr Brown attaches directly to the Medela pump and the Advent requires an adapter.
Customer Review: Bottles good but not forever Summary: 4 Stars
I AM NOT A KID, I JUST DIDNT HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO SUPPLY. I have just had my first daughter who is now 3 months old and i used the dr. browns bottles. they do work but my daughter would sometimes get a little gassy when she was little. im just about to stop using them because she is old enough to use evenflo bottles and she isnt half as gassy or spitty uppy. besides, those bottles are a bitch to wash. it took me about 20 minutes to wash three of them! playtex...doesnt work...those darn inserts are annoying too...it says to squeeze them and all the air will come out, it does not! its too hard! you cant stick your fingers all the way up there...that sounds wrong doesnt it. well anyways, the moral of this is to use dr. browns for the first 3 months and than switch to something more easier.
Customer Review: A MUST HAVE FOR NEW MOMS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was new at this motherhood thing and everyone encouraged me to buy the AVENT bottles and I did. But after I finished breastfeeding and was ready to make the transition to bottles... the AVENT bottles were not the way to go. They caused my baby to be very gassy and she did not adjust well. After speaking to my pediatrician, she recommended the DR. BROWN bottles and my daughter loves them! She took to them right away. They prevent her from sucking in air bubbles with her formula, which has cut down on her gas pains...etc. They are the ONLY bottles I recommend and I will use them with any future children I have for sure! If you are unsure what to buy for your baby, consider buying the DR. BROWN bottles... they are worth it and you won't be disappointed!!
Customer Review: Best baby bottles Summary: 5 Stars
I (or I should say, my boy) like(s) Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottles very much. This set comes with only two levels of nipples (level one and level two). As the child grows bigger, the nipples needs to be changed. There are five levels (Preemie, One, Two, Three, and Four) of nipples and a "Y-cut" nipple. The higher the level of the nipple, the faster the flow. If the baby refuse the bottle, there is a possiblity that the nipple is either a level too high or too low. Just need to pay attention to this, and you won't have problems with these bottles.
Well of course these bottles takes more time to wash, but as long as the baby feels good, it will actually save time (hay, just feed him/her and he/she's happy and go directly to sleep).
Customer Review: Beware of Lexan plastic Summary: 1 Stars
I bought these bottles because they were compatible with my Medela breast pump and the design got good reviews. We've been using them occasionally for supplementary feedings (formula and expressed milk) for our two-month-old and have no complaints with the performance. However, I recently discovered that studies on mice have shown that polycarbonate plastic (Lexan), like that used in Dr. Brown's bottles, can release a chemical that causes reproductive cancers, low sperm count, birth defects, and other problems. Heating the plastic and long exposure increase the risk. So if you must use these bottles, it seems prudent to add the warm milk/formula just before feeding. I personally am going to pitch mine and switch to polypropylene bottles.
