Customer Review: Truly Great Bottles
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used nothing but Dr. Brown's Wide-Mouth Bottles with my daughter, and I have been very happy with them. One of my friends used the traditional diameter Dr. Brown's and recommended them highly. I chose the wide-mouth bottles because they were supposedly easier for a baby who switches back and forth between breast and bottle to use; plus, a wide mouth bottle is easier to pour breastmilk or formula into. It has turned out that we don't switch back and forth but use only the bottles. My daughter spits up and has gas some, but very little. She doesn't spit up as much as babies I have babysat who used other kinds of bottles. I don't find these bottles hard to clean at all. I wash them in the dishwasher, putting the small parts in baskets. It does take an extra dishwasher basket because there are more small parts. I suppose the extra few seconds it takes to disassemble and reassemble the gaskets and tubes could be annoying to some people, but it doesn't bother me. I think dealing with a fussy baby would take more time than I spend dealing with bottle parts. I also don't find loosening the top of the bottle to warm the milk to be that much of a bother. The "Buy 3, Get One Free" offer works; within a week I received my free bottles. I'm really happy with these bottles and highly recommend them to you.

Customer Review: This bottle saved my sanity during the first weeks.
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter was born with a really weak suck. She had a horrible time fighting the vacumn in other bottles, and the one4s that she could get alot out of came too fast for her.

This was the only bottle (and in desperation we tried everything) that I could get her both to drink from without choking AND get her to eat in less than an hour.

The first time I tried this bottle was at a 4AM feeding. She was drinking about 2 to 2 and a half oz at that point and the night before it took 45 minutes and another 10 to burp. The first feeding with the Dr brow's bottle I was back in bed 20 minutes after starting. It was so easy for her to eat and just the right rate that she drank quickly with no problems, burped, and went right back to bed.

Considering I had to feed her every 2 hours during the day and every 3 at night, I am sure you can see how this has saved my sanity. When my Sister in law has her boy in July, trust me, she will have these bottles from me.

As for cleaning, the microwave bags from Medela work great, All the little parts get sanitized in just 3 minutes and it makes cleaning these bottles hardly any work. I just sanitize bottles, bottle parts, and breast pump stuff all at the same time just a few loads through the microwave while she's naping and I'm cleaning the kitchen.

Customer Review: these bottles changed our lives
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I decided to try these bottles when our daughter was about 2 1/2 months old. We had tried both the standard Avent bottles and the Avents with the collapsible liner and nothing seemed to help our daughter's colic. We were at our wits end. Feeding time was a complete nightmare, our daughter would get halfway through her bottle and start screaming in pain. No amount of burping could help her and sometimes her screaming lasted for hours, usually getting much worse in the evenings. When we started using the Dr. Browns, she calmed down almost immediately and feedings have been calm and happy ever since. Truthfully, I wasn't sure that the Dr. Browns were fully responsible for her change in demeanor because we changed bottles right around the time our doctor said she'd probably "grow out of it," so at around 5 months we tried putting her back on Avent bottles (yes, they are easier to clean). What a disaster!!! She screamed straight through and after her feedings just like she had as a newborn. Needless to say, we went right back to the Dr. Browns. Yes, they are a bit of a hassle to clean, but it's so much easier to spend an extra few minutes cleaning bottles than watch my daughter scream uncontrollably in pain for hours. I think the choice is clear :)

Customer Review: My personal Pros and Cons
Summary: 3 Stars

My personal Pros and Cons Of the Dr. Browns Bottles

Pros:

1. Seems to really reduce the amount of air my daughter intakes with each feeding. She rarely has to burp after a bottle.

2. My daughter loves the nipple. I've tried Playtex.. Avent.. Gerber all of which my daughter rejects. She will only feed off of the Doctor Browns.

3. Nipple Flow helps my daughter not to gulp. I have a whole lot less drool and spit up.

4. Not as hard as one might think to clean; they are dishwasher safe and... I do a quick rinse with the brush insert and then pop it in the washer... rinse before feeding. Quite easy.

Cons

1. They leak.
-Do not warm in a bottle warmer. If you are using expressed milk or formula heat in a different container before a feeding.
- Do not shake the dr. browns bottle

Personally, they are wonderful bottles... but the leakage causes me to give it a 3 star b/c I HATE the leaking.
If they fixed this problem I'd love it.

( by the way the leakage is not caused from overfilling)
IT WILL leak if you overfill passed line indicated.

I've been using bottles for over 2 months

Customer Review: Great Bottles, A Few MINOR Problems
Summary: 4 Stars

These bottles are as great as everyone says. A friend recommended we try them. Our daughter was small when she was born and was very collicy. She had reflux and in general was just hurting from gas, etc. every time she ate. We were using the small Avent bottles at the time - and not to knock them b/c if we did not have our specific problems they would have been fine - however switching to the Dr. Browns made an almost immediate difference. As she has grown we have continued to use them and have now moved to the larger sizes, again after first trying the Avent bottles that I already had. She just can't take the extra gas going in her belly yet. (the pediatrician says once she's rolling over on her own she'll be better with the gas). The biggest downside is cleaning all of the extra, but necessary parts. I now just rinse the parts under hot water after each feeding and put them in a dishwasher basket and that has been working great. As others have mentioned, I have had a few problems with the leaking... however I was not using the little travel caps they provided and once I started to do that, I have not had any more problems. I am sure these are not necessary for everyone's child, but they definitely worked for us and our situation.
