Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 4 oz Natural Flow Baby Bottle, 3 Pack

Customer Review: Dr. Brown's Works - as long as you follow the directions
Summary: 5 Stars

CONS: These are pricey, a pain to clean, leak when shaken, and generally make feedings longer. Other caregivers are also dumbfounded when you try to explain how to use these -such as the fact that you can't heat or shake the bottle w/out taking the internal parts out first, etc. etc. Finally, these only work with their own nipples (see note below).

PROS: While they don't eliminate all gas, they eliminate the long bouts of painful gas that our newborn previously experienced. As other parents have tried, we went for full a day without using Dr. Brown's and the outcome was miserable for us all...the screaming and sleeplessness had returned! Finally, these are standard size and work with breast pumps.

A WORD OF CAUTION: Make sure you use ONLY Dr. Brown's nipples or this feeding system may not work for you. We couldn't figure out why some feedings were easier than others until we realized that we were using another brand nipples! Also, these bottles are not a substitute for burping so don't forget to burb frequently.

Customer Review: best bottles around- forget the rest!
Summary: 5 Stars

When my son was born, we tried sampling bottles from several different manufacturers, including Evenflo, Triflow, Avent, VentAir, etc. Dr Brown's bottles really are the best in preventing gas, bottle leakage, and flow problems. We ended up throwing all other bottles away. I had read other reviews about the small parts being difficult to wash, but I don't really have a problem with that. We don't have a dishwasher and I end up hand washing everything. Each set of bottles comes with a tiny brush for getting into the small spaces for the inner parts to the bottles; and a regular bottle brush works fine with the bottles themselves. I can wash and fill 9 bottles in under 20 minutes (perfect timing when putting my son down for a nap). My only suggestion is to bypass getting 4 oz bottles and go right for the 8 oz bottles. We started off with the 4 oz bottles and now, at 3 months old, our son is already up to 6 oz at a feeding. So, we had to pack away the 4oz bottles and go out and buy a bunch of the larger size.

Customer Review: Fantastic bottles & NO Leaks.

We have preemie twins (born 2 months early at 2 & 3 lbs). One girl has severe gas problems & the other constantly spit-up. We bought the 8-ounce version of these bottles after reading hundreds of reviews, etc. I'd swear by them! A marked improvement in reducing gas, vomitting, spit-up, & colic! We went to stage 2 nipples when our girls were 3 months old and both do fine. Extra parts are no problem. They're easy to clean and well worth the saved time & energy in cleaning vomit off furniture, floors, clothing, & babies. As for leaks, no problem. For transporting use the disks (included) under the nipples before screwing on the caps just like you would with any other bottle. When warming in a bottle-warmer or pan the heated air has nowhere to go so it comes out the air-tube designed to keep air out of baby (overflow/leaks). Just loosen the caps before warming...problem solved. We tried several other bottles and none worked as well as these. I highly recommend Dr. Brown's and wouldn't use anything else!

Customer Review: Nothing To Loose....

but $5! My son is almost 8 wks old and has problems with gas for 4 of those weeks. We changed his formula to soy thinking that would help and it did but only for a week. His gassienes was so bad it would cause him to waken every 15 minutes if he wasnt in a sound sleep. We tried Milicon along with his formula to no avail. So one day while shopping I came upon these bottles. I bought one and came home to read all the reviews on them. Out of 144 there were only a handful of bad ones. So I was soo excited to think that my son could be a happier baby! After one use my son cried for almost and hour and half straight. SO I thought maybe we had to give it a few more tries. After a total of five tries we gave up! He would drink one ounce and have violent burps and even more gas!! The formula would come out too fast and the nipple he would choke on. I didnt mind the cleaning if it ment a happy baby! It was pretty easy to clean! I am happy for those babies that it workes for but we went back to our Platex Nurser for now.

Customer Review: Best Bottle Available
Summary: 5 Stars

Being a first time mom, I purchased a couple of every brand of bottle on the market. My plan was to try them out and decide which worked best for my baby. Dr. Browns bottles are the best hands down!! Some bottles my baby wouldn't even take due to the nipple, and others created so many bubbles and vacuum problems that she slurped and gurggled every time she'd drink. The difference when she'd drink from a Dr. Brown's bottle was amazing. Her latch-on to the nipple was natural, and the flow of milk during drinking was smooth and continuous.

My baby also had gas issues, but they were greatly reduced when she drank from Dr. Browns. You could SEE the difference in air flow by just watching the milk. No bubbles were seen! So many mothers had raved about the Avent bottles, but my baby couldn't keep a constant suction on their nipples, so they were the first to be pitched in the garbage after watching her practically gag on milk. My little girl is ready to move on to 8 oz bottles, and I'll only buy the Dr. Browns.
