Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3-pack 8-ounce Standard Bottles

Customer Review: Never used another bottle, never will!
Summary: 5 Stars

Based on reviews from mommies I know and this website, I went with Dr. Brown's bottles right from the start. I am very happy that I did! The bottles are designed to help your baby eat calmly and slowly. This is terrific for my little monster who often approaches the bottle like she would gobble it up whole if she could! The Dr. Brown's bottle slows her down and she eats safely and comfortably. She has always taken a full feeding, and she has almost no gas or spit-up. In fact, we really have to work to get a burp out of her! She is very healthy and content, and this is the most important factor in choosing a bottle. It's certainly outwieghs the fact that they are a little bothersome to clean. I am currently hand-washing them. I do 8 at a time and have my bottles for the next 24-hour period. I may look into a dishwasher basket, but I want to make sure they will get as clean as when I wash them.
I've had no problem with leakage or anything, and I don't why some people have...? I've been nothing but pleased with these bottles. They will be our choice from start to finish!

I was skeptical at first when i bought these bottles, but let me tell you, out of all the things i bought for my baby this is the best item i bought for my baby. My baby had colic, although it didn't alleviate the colic, it did help. But the main thing is my baby has never had an ear infection because of these bottles. And you can see the difference. She tried other bottles and you can see all the bubbles in other bottles and worst, you see the baby sucking them in.With dr browns, you never ever see bubbles in the bottle. There a little hassle to clean, so i bought 12 bottles. Also the little green rubber part, i would recommend soaking those in water with vinegar. This solution will help dissolve milk bacteria and particles and helps loosen them up. Then just clean the holes with the little brush it comes with.Actually i soak all bottle parts in a solution of water and vinegar. Then i rinse them with water and then wash them in the dishwasher.I use soap and water to wash the bottles. Stop thinking about it and reading reviews, take it from a nurse, GO BUY THESE BOTTLES!

Customer Review: Aidan's Mom
Summary: 3 Stars

I mostly breastfed my baby until he was 8 months old. We did use bottles once a day as a supplement. I got these bottles because a friend highly recommended them. Here's the pros and cons as I see it:

Pros
- My son never had issues with spit up or gas while using the bottles.

Cons
- The bottles leaked easily when shaking up the formula - even with all the inserts in the bottle.
- There is writing on the bottle that says "To prevent leaks do not fill above this line." The line was even with the capacity of the bottle. I found this odd because once you add formula to a 4 or 8 oz bottle size, the liquid would go over that line. Maybe that's why it leaked, but then how would you feed your child an 8 oz bottle?
- Many more parts to clean - not fun to do if you need a bottle in the middle of the night!
- They are a little pricey.

Bottom line - I would recommend them for using with breast milk or if you have a very gassy baby. If not, use the Avent bottles - much easier to clean and mix formula in.

Customer Review: Dr Brown's versus Avent
Summary: 4 Stars

Both bottles do a fine job of keeping bubbles out of your baby. We tried and used both bottles with our boy. The real deal between the two is the nipple. The nipple on Avent bottles are larger at the base and firmer than the Brown bottles. When we first introduced the bottle to our breast fed boy he did not take to the Avent bottles. He just couldn't get comfortable around the nipple. We switched to Dr. Bown's and he took to it with little problem. As he got older and bigger we later switched and are currently using the Avents. Why did we switch? Cleaning Dr. Brown's bottles SUCKS! There are so many little parts that all need special brushes to clean with that it takes forever to wash bottles. Plus, the Brown bottles are thinner but taller and just don't seem to pack away as well. However, if your baby is picky there isn't much you can do. For expecting parents, I would not recommend buying a bunch of one type over the other. Buy one of each first and see which one you baby is comfortable with. Only 4 stars because of the cleaning issues.

Customer Review: My baby won't take any other bottle!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I breast fed my baby for seven months. At first, he would take my milk from any bottle if someone else was feeding him, but only from the Dr. Brown's bottle if I was feeding him. I admit...I am lazy...I tried every other bottle I could find that would be easier to clean, but he preferred the Dr. Brown's bottle. When I switched to formula...I felt like I was being a good mom when I gave the Dr. Brown's bottle to feed from.
I have five bottles right now, and I'm going to purchase more to cut down on the amount of times I have to run my dishwasher (I'm lazy, remember). Be careful when using the dishwasher...my father melted the inner tube of one of my bottles when it fell to the bottom. Now, I use the little baskets that go in the dishwasher. I just throw everything in the baskets and put the bottles on the top rack and I'm done.
Oh yeah...I only have one 4 oz. bottle, but it is useful for juice...and he likes to hold that one on his own sometimes...the 8 oz. is just to big for him to hold right now.
GREAT BUY!!!
