Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3-pack 8-ounce Standard Bottles

Customer Review: Highly Recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

Im a breastfeeding mother, but needed bottles so that his father (who is legally blind) could feed him my breastmilk while I was at work. I hear great things about these bottles but that they are hard to clean. Theyre easy enough for a blind man to clean, so they can't be that hard! Ive inspected them after hes cleaned them and theyre spotless. Though, we've never had to clean them after milk has caked up on them from not rinsing them immediatly afterwords for easier cleaning later. *shrug*

My son never got colic, spit up I think a total of 3 times since hes been home from the hospital and burps about as much with the bottle as he does breastfeeding.

One thing to remember when buying these bottles it that their design is to prevent the issues associated with air and vacuum commonly created in normal bottles. If your child has other issues (reflux etc) spit up/ colic caused by something other than the Air/vacuum found in bottles, these probably won't completly resolve those issues. Theyre just designed to MINIMIZE issues CAUSED by normal bottles (vacuum and air)

Customer Review: The BEST!! At ANY Price! Excellent Customer Service!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have reccomended these bottles to practically everyone I know that has a baby or is about to have one. They were an instant "lifesaver" with my son. He was about 3 weeks old and started having SEVERE problems from intolerance to formula. The gas was so bad for him, and the Avent bottles seemed to make eating almost impossible for him. He struggled to take a single swallow. I saw an ad for the Dr. Brown's in a magazine and decided that that was something that I at had to try. ...The clean up on them is a little more tedious than a standard bottle, but it is more than worth it to see the difference it can make. They have the standard nipple kind and also make the wide-mouth one's for a more natural bottle. I had one collar/nipple-ring that leaked and I called the company and a lady sent me some extra one's within a couple of days. I was impressed to speak with an actual person taht was so friendly, and to also have the rings so fast, and at no charge. My son is a year old now and has had no ear infections and has had no "tummy trouble" because of gas! EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR ALL BABIES!!!

Customer Review: Lot of parts to clean but well worth it!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This bottle does have a lot of parts to clean but if you weigh the options of spending about an extra 10 minutes per day cleaning bottle and your baby having less gas, it is worth it. This bottle has 5 parts to clean and others usually have about 3. So if you clean 8 bottles per day and the Dr. Brown's bottles have 2 extra parts, that is like cleaning 16 extra parts per day. Really, it takes maybe 10 seconds per extra part. So, what is an extra 2-3 minutes. Nothing!! Everyone says, yes they are great bottles but there are so many parts to clean. Really, think about it. It doesn't take that much longer to clean! I will stand by these bottles all the way...less gas, less smacking when he eats and a happier baby in the end. And, I have tried every bottle including, Avent, Playtex vent air, MAM and others. Also, get the 8 oz bottles right away. If you spend the money on the smaller bottles because you baby only eats 4 oz now, he/she will be eating more in a few weeks/months and then you will have to buy more bottles. 3oz fits into an 8 oz bottle so why not just get the larger bottles right away.

Customer Review: I cannot say enough good things about this bottle
Summary: 5 Stars

I did research on the different bottles before my son was born. I heard lots of good things about these. So I bought them. They worked fine for my son. No colic.

My brother had a daughter a few months later and they bought the bottles that has the air vent on the bottom of the bottle. Well she got colic. They finally switched her to a special formula for colicky babies and it helped some. Then I bought Dr Brown bottles for them. They tried them the day they got them and noticed a HUGE difference right away, within the first day! They said that she even started laughing and smiling for the first time in a loooong time. That's proof enough for me.

Now, they do take a little longer to clean, but it's worth it. Plus, they come with a mini bottle scrubber that fits into the tubes to clean. To me this is an added bonus because I now have an extra mini scrubber that fits into other kids and sports cups that have flip top lids and straws. Before, there was really no way to REALLY get into the little cranys of those lids and inside of the straws...So my mini bottle scrubber now does double duty!

Customer Review: Not a fan of these-- bad hiccups.
Summary: 2 Stars

Our son has reflux and had colic, and these bottles were recommended to us by several people. We started using them when he was 4 weeks old. At first, we thought they were helping but then began to notice that after feedings he would get the hiccups EVERY time. This didn't happen with our other bottles (Avent and Playtex nursers, and Evenflo bottles). He seemed miserable with hiccups.

Secondly, after we started to use these, he began to refuse his pacifier. The Dr. Brown's nipples are so soft, that he fell in love with them and just wanted to suck on the nipple instead of his pacifier.

Perhaps our son didn't do well with them because of his reflux, but now he is on the Evenflo Comfi nursers and doing fabulous. I do think that Dr. Brown's should make pacifiers that are similar to their nipples, because they are made of such thin, soft silicone, that our son could instantly tell the difference between them and preferred them over his pacifier, even when he was not hungry. Now, we are trying to break him of the habit of needing a bottle to fall asleep!
