Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3-pack 8-ounce Standard BottlesCustomer Review: Satisfied First Time Parents!! Summary: 5 Stars
Our baby has encountered various eating/digestion problems since we brought her home. Our doctor had us try various formulas, adding cereal, etc... Finally this bottle system was recommended. Although our baby had an intolerance to regular milk base formulas, that was it!! The bottles were the rest of the problem! Since we've had these Dr. Brown's bottles, we have had a happy baby, eating well and thriving. I hope this helps someone out there that may have encountered various colic, gas, etc., intolerances, that their pediatrition justs "couldn't put their finger on the problem"... We are 100% satisfied with our purchase and although they may seem expensive, they are worth every penny... One hint tough... Other nipples will work with them and not cause leaking or air problems. When I went to cereal/formula, I was able to use other drugstore type brand nipples with this product and haven't any problem... I have since replaced all of my nipples since the newer nipples are nicer, and they work just fine... First I tried the ones that looked the same, then I tried the "brown tinted" nipples... All work just fine. These bottle systems are wonderful. I highly recommend buying a couple sets for any parents experiencing any problems like we had...
Customer Review: LIFESAVER FOR MOMMY, DADDY, SON and EVEN THE DOG Summary: 5 Stars
When I had my son in July of 2000 I bought several different types of bottle hoping I could stick with one kind. My son was fussy, spit up, very gassy, his poor little stomach would get soo hard from the gas he would scream. I stumbled on these bottles at Baby Depot in Burlington and bought only one. The first night I used it, my son didn't cry or spit up. My caregiver thought I was just a new mom with some new fangled item that "I just had to have". Well he did great feeding that next day and night so I ran out and bought more. IT SAVED HIS LIFE AND MY SANITY!!! I am expecting my 2nd child - a daughter -in 7 days and have stocked up on only Dr. Brown bottles which I am bringing with me to the hospital with my formula of choice so she can start DAY ONE feeling good. I also recommended these bottles to friends of ours who have just had their first baby and she was breastfeeding and had to stop. Same thing with her child - gassy, spit up, etc. and used these bottles and is a new kid. Just one thing - you need to call the company and get new number 1 nipples because the ones that are included with the bottles flow too much for a newborn. They will send them to you for free.
Customer Review: The greatest bottle invented Summary: 5 Stars
We searched and searched for a bottle that our son could use and not have to suck so hard with ... We had tried Playtex vent aire, evenflow, advent but still, he seemed to have a hard time drinking ... it was taking almost a half hour just to go through 3-4 ozs, we even made holes in the nipples and still nothing seemed to work .... I read in a magazine the top 5 bottles that prevented air, gas and colic and Dr. Brown was # 2 on the list (ventaires being # 1). So we thought we'd try these bottles, for us it was not about the air it was about finding a nipple that our son wouldn't struggle with. We brough one bottle and brough it home and finally, a normal feeding where we didn't struggle to get him to eat, it didn't take forever and it didn't seem like he was sucking so hard ..... And it was the nipple - it's soft, easier for a babies lips to squeeze versus all the others we had tried ..... Needless to stay, we have continued using the Dr. Brown bottle and I love it .... We have never had a problem with gas or colic and more importantly, our son was not having a difficult time feeding any longer .... I would recommend this bottle to EVERYONE!!!!!
Customer Review: Consider this... Summary: 3 Stars
The Dr. Brown bottles are easy to hold...they are narrow. However, the neck of the bottle is very narrow making it difficult to mix formula in. The vent system in the bottle is supposed to keep them from being so gassy...which my baby has never been...I don't know if the special vent system has something to do with it or not. I have never tried another bottle. But...the vent system that is supposed to push air down when they suck fills up with milk. SO...you have to take the bottle apart for them to get anything. Not good when you have a hungry baby. So I would not say they are reliable. As far as price goes, they are somewhat pricey for what you get. If you have an advanced eater that needs the level 2 or 3 nipples, you don't get them when you purchase the 8oz. bottles. They all come with the level 1. These bottles have been more of a pain for me in my opinion. There is a lot of pieces to wash if your are bottle feeding. Also, unless they are completely upright they spill and leak out all over the diaper bag. AND..unless the neck is screwed on so tight that you have to get pliers to take them off...they leak when you are feeding.
Customer Review: By far the best bottles for gassy babies Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the Dr. Browns bottles after experiencing some very tough times with our gassy baby. She was simply miserable all the time and constantly having gas issues....it was horrible. We tried Mylicon and that never worked (it actually made things worse) so we finally decided to toss the Avent bottles we were using and went for Dr. Brown's and it was amazing how fast things changed. Literally within 24-hours we had seen changes in her gas related issues and now we're a few days into using them and she is not crying NEARLY as much as what she was with the other bottles. By far the best decision we made for her.
If you have a baby who seems to be having gas problems and he/she is simply miserable, then you have to try these bottles. And don't worry about the issue others brought up about cleaning them.....it's really not much harder to clean them and believe me it is well worth having a much happier baby. I would also recommend the 8oz bottles as our little one seems to be increasing how much she eats every day so the bigger bottles are more economical in the long run. Good luck to all! :)
