Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3-pack 8-ounce Standard BottlesCustomer Review: THESE ARE TRULY THE BEST BOTTLES EVER! Summary: 5 Stars
When my son was first born the hospital first gave me a regular bottle to start feeding him. He was a mess. He cried, screamed, and had awful reflux problems after he ate. I immediately sent my husband home to bring back my Dr. Browns bottles. I should have initially brought them to the hospital but I had felt awkward. After, switching to the Dr. Browns bottles we have NEVER had another problem with gas. In fact, my son is five months old and has not had any real spitting up or gas problems. Also, he burps but not at every feeding because I think he's not getting lot's of air into his stomach. Also, it is a bit tiresome to clean the bottles but it is a small price to pay for a happy baby. I simply bought 6 bottles and as soon as we are done with my sons feeding I rinse out the bottle. I leave a large plastic bowl in the sink with warm sudsy water and I take apart the pieces and throw them immediately into the water so they don't get all gunky. I LOVE these bottles and would gladly recommend them to anybody who bottlefeeds.
Customer Review: These Bottles Are A Must Have! Summary: 5 Stars
When my son was first born we used Playtex Premium Nursers and those worked fine...for about two or three weeks! Then my son started to have what seemed to be painful gas which led to fussiness becuase he was so uncomfortable. I had heard about Dr. Browns bottles before and decided to give them a try. From the first time I used them I could tell a difference. Brian had less gas(of course all babies have some gas), he seemed much more comfortable, and it was MUCH easier to burp him. Burping him used to take 5-10 minutes just for one burp and now it takes about 1-3. I would recommend these bottles to anyone who is going to have or has a baby. They aren't any more expensive then Avent and although I have never tried Avent I heard they leak pretty bad. Also, washing the extra parts to the Dr. Brown's bottles isn't hard wether you have a dishwasher or not. I'd rather take a few extra minutes to wash some bottles than have a few hours of fussiness every day. Dr. Brown's bottles are must have for your babies comfort and your sanity!
Customer Review: Good bottle for gas...bad for dads Summary: 4 Stars
These bottles work great for my 7 month old - I bought them for her at 4 weeks old b/c of gas issues with the Evenflo Comfi. (My younger sis used them on her colicky baby 7 years ago when they were VERY hard to find. So I knew what I was getting myself into when it came to cleaning them.) I bought the Munchkin* dishwasher baskets (they hold the straws well) and just throw all the parts in the top rack of my d/w. No problem. My only complaints are: 1) When heating them in a bottle warmer the heat causes the milk to rise into the straw and they leak - you must loosen the lid to heat them or they will overflow. 2) My husband doesn't get that you can't haphazardly throw the diaper bag in the car with a Dr Brown's bottle. If it is turned on it's side, eventually the milk will get into the straw and start leaking. Other than these 2 complaints it is a great bottle. As with anything else you can't idiot proof it. You have to be smarter than what you are working with. Once you figure them out they are worth their weight in gold!
Customer Review: tried the rest? Now try the best! Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using Dr. Brown's bottles since my son was born, first as supplemental to breast feeding and now with formula. At first when he was still having some gassiness I thought I would change bottles to something with less parts to clean, assuming that the system was just a gimmick and I might as well go with something easier. Boy was I wrong! I tried both the Avent and the Playtex Ventaire and both caused my son to have much much worse gas and fussiness then with the Dr. Browns. I quickly returned to them and have not ever considered anything else since (my son is 4 months now). As far as the cleaning and extra parts, I don't see this as a big issue given the peace and quiet in my home! I think the key is to rinse the bottles after using them and then cleaning is quite simple. The only downside is that the bottles leak when put in a non-upright positiion in the refrigerator or bottle bag. Keeping them upright and the extra parts is a small inconvenience relative to dealing with a gassy and unhappy baby!
Customer Review: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Summary: 1 Stars
If you're thinking about getting these bottles for 3 months or older infants you might as well go with other bottle brands. We purchased 2 starter pak(3 bottles per pak)in the beginning. They came with 4 level 1 nipples 2 level 2 nipples. When we ordered additional 2 paks of 8 oz. bottles they all came with level 1 nipples.(Be advised that when you order these bottles they don't give you choice of level 1 or 2 nipples) Our daughter is now 10 months old. We now have 12 bottles with 10 level 1 nipples that WE CANNOT USE ANYMORE and only 2 level 2 nipples. We emailed the company numerous times in efforts to purchase level 2 nipples but they haven't responded as of yet. We even tried calling their Toll Free # but haven't been able to get through. We even tried making the holes on the level 1 nipples bigger by using needles and everything else we could think of but it is almost impossible as the nipple is made of silicon. These bottles are made in CHINA and their customer service is one of the WORST.
