Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3 Pack BPA Free Polypropylene Bottle, 8 oz

Customer Review: helped with colic but drove me crazy
Summary: 2 Stars

these bottles definitely seemed to help with my daughter's colic, but they drive us nuts.

First, the measurements are tiny and extremely difficult to read - as are the nipple flow indicators. I have twins on different flows and they are hard to tell apart - especially in the middle of the night.

Second, these bottles leak so badly. I have followed all of the instructions and have several of the bottles, but each of them drip terribly. You need to wash your hands and arms after feeding the kid, and they don't travel well, even with the little disks they provide to stop leakage.

Lastly, with the caps the bottles are longer than standard bottles, so you can forget about fitting them in any bottle holders, coolers, or standard diaper bag bottle pockets.

I actually don't mind all of the parts; some other bottles out there are worse.

Customer Review: Opt for the glass ones
Summary: 3 Stars

I read a review of the glass Dr. Brown bottles that complained that the painted-on ounces markings wore off in the dishwasher, so I got two glass bottles and two of these BPA-free PP ones just to see. The big drawback is that the plastic ones hold in smells. I made the mistake of washing them once with Mrs. Meyer's dish soap, and they are basically ruined because they are now permanently honeysuckle scented, which is gross. Even just running them through the dishwasher with scent-free Method dishwasher tabs caused them to retain the scent of hot, washed food. It's really not something I would ever want to make my baby smell while drinking. Get the glass--you can hand wash them (it takes TWO minutes) if you're worried about losing the paint (which hasn't happened to me after 7 months) and they rinse clean, every time.

Customer Review: Good in some ways but bottles do LEAK!
Summary: 1 Stars

I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased these bottles. I had no problem with the 4 oz wide necked bottles however these 8 oz bottles do, indeed, leak. It is not a gradual leak but a full on, losing 3-4 ounces of milk, soaking the inside of a bag, kind of leak. My babysitter was so frustrated when she took my son out and the milk was lost and got everything wet inside her bag. I don't mind the parts to clean but the thin necked bottles make cleaning the inside of the bottle extremely hard to wash. I tried to use a standard bottle brush and it wouldn't fit. I wound up using force and then cut my knuckle. Frustrating. Yes, it does decrease gas but I'm not sure it's worth it. With all the complaints about leaks, I wish the company would fix this problem as the other parts of their product work relatively well.

Customer Review: love them
Summary: 4 Stars

I love, love, LOVE these bottles! We used many different types (ventaire, drop-in's, cheap parents choice, nuk, and avent). These worked the best! The drop-ins where the only other ones I used but have since dropped them. My 4 month old had (has) awful gas (he's on probiotics) and reflux (the silent-painful kind) problems. As soon as we started him on these-he did much much better. I do get annoyed with how long it takes. I could put them in the steamer and/or the dishwasher and I choose not to. Therefore--I can't complain too much about the cleaning. What I DO LOVE about these bottles is that they have (buy separately) with a screw on lid (not the nipple) for storage and/or travel. It makes it much easier to mix the formula without ever touching the nipple and/or milk spilling into the lid.

Customer Review: Cutomer Service is A +
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of the plastic bottles and 6 of the glass bottles. Within a month with normal use 3 of the glass bottle had broken. So I do recommend sticking to the plastic version. That aside I must mention that I contacted the Handi Craft customer service via online form and within 1 business day I had a reply offering to replace the broken glass bottles with plastic ones (which is what I would have wanted given the tendency to breakage) and pay for postage to return the broken ones for quality control. I am totally impressed with this as well as the functionality of the venting system. My son has acid reflux issues and these bottles are great. I'm pretty sure (don't ask me how) that he actually consumes less air with these bottles than breast feeding. Love them and Love the company.
