Baby Products Reviews of Dr. Brown's 3 Pack BPA Free Polypropylene Bottle, 8 oz

Customer Review: Even great bottles could be better
Summary: 4 Stars

My wife and I have been using these bottles exclusively. We have had no problems with them at all. That being said, there are a few things that could be better.

1) Washing them is a little chore due to the extra parts that most bottles don't have. This is not a big deal at all given the benefit of the ventilation system.

2) The raised ounce markers and numbers aren't always that visible. I wish they could be a different color or something. We like the clear plastic ones that came as a starter set because the numbers and markings were blue and easy to see. But you can only get additional 4 and 8oz ones in just polypropylene and glass. We aren't interested in the glass because they are significantly heavier. Also my wife might be a little clumsy, and I can just see those shattering all over our kitchen floor.

Really, this is a positive review. As I said, we love these bottles, but there is a little room for improvement. Hopefully this not only helps you, but maybe the manufacturer will read this and make an even more superior product.

Customer Review: I don't understand the rave...
Summary: 1 Stars

After I read the great reviews about these bottles and from my girlfriend, I went out and purchased 2 sets of these bottles and all new level 2 nipples and the rack set - I thought I was set. Boy, did I regret it. I never thought these bottles would be made in China - I don't know, with all the news about the high levels of lead found in baby products manufactured there, it made me wonder why Dr. Browns would even produce them there. But I'll stick to the review of these bottles, they were a pain to CLEAN, ASSEMBLE and DISASSEMBLE - and because of all the little parts, you really needed to buy the big and bulky Dr. Brown Rack (so keep this in mind if you don't have storage space). Most importantly, my daughter hated these bottles. Nonetheless, I switched to Avent. BTW, in case you were wondering, my girlfriend who told me these were great bottles later confessed and said she hated them because of all the time it took to clean them, but was stuck using them because her kids were used to them.

Customer Review: Good bottles
Summary: 4 Stars

These bottles are good and I don't mind washing the parts. The playtex dropins gave my daughter terrible gas. My daughter still burps and spits up but she has severe GERD and I feel like these bottles work fine for her. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they are huge! I wish Dr. Brown's had a mid level range like a 6oz bottle instead of just 4oz and 8oz. I guess if I were giving her 8oz bottles right now it wouldn't matter but when I use these I only put 5-6oz in them. Overall it is a good product and Amazon has the best price. Also, invest in the travel caps that you can buy separate (not the discs that come with it). They are a must for these bottles and are great for shaking the bottle with powdered formula since they tend to leak if you shake it with the travel discs and they are great for travel so you don't have to keep the bottles upright. On a side note the bottles will hook up to a breast pump...if you happen to need a 8oz bottle to pump 8oz out of each breast.

Customer Review: Dr. Brown's bottles are great for gassy babies.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using these bottles for the past 3 weeks and have been very pleased. The bottles do not leak as long as you do not overfill them and make sure to screw the top on properly. If you transport a full bottle and leave the bottle on its side, the cap will fill with milk. This should be expected because there is nothing preventing the nipple from leaking. It isn't a negative and shouldn't count as the bottle leaking. You can either purchase the Dr. Brown's screw on caps for the bottles for transport or insert the discs which come with the bottle to transport it to prevent this type of leakage.

These bottles are not anymore difficult to clean than any other bottle. There are just additional parts which means a little more time.

My baby tends to be a bit gassy and prone to spit up. These bottles have not exacerbated his gas/spit up issues. For breastfed babies, 4 oz bottles should be more than adequate for expressed breastmilk bottle feedings.

Customer Review: Excellent.....until they start leaking
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought these bottles for our gassy baby. The design is amazing. It really helped reduced the amount of air she would take it while drinking. But now we've got a major problem. The bottles have been used for 3 months and now they are starting to leak REALLY bad. I guess the plastic has stretched a bit from being reheated or maybe the grooves have worn down a little bit? I have no idea why but every single one of the bottles leak now and it's not just a little drip here and there, it's a stream of formula that leaks from under the cap. After my daughter finishes drinking her bib is soaked. When we shake up up the formula it sprays everywhere. Not to mention the huge amount of formula that is leaking from the bottle is a huge waste of formula. I've contacted Dr. Browns to see if they have a fix for this problem because I don't want to have to buy all new bottles. Bottles are expensive and I'd hate to have to buy new ones when these are ONLY 3 months old!
