Customer Review: Great product for the money

I will always prefer the look of a traditional toy box. My children are very young so when they put away toys, it isn't a gentle and organized process. When toys are thrown into a collapsible truck, the trunk will lean and there is a chance of the frame bending. I do have one just like this that I bought at Wal-Mart a couple years ago; my older child plus a cross country move tore the trunk, exposing the metal frame. It will still hold items, so I keep it out of reach of the children to store excess toys which I swap out periodically, it fits in our narrow closet.
So why did I buy the same thing? I do not suggest transporting it when full, but it can be done as the trunk itself weighs next to nothing and the handles are fairly strong. They do fold up flat when empty. This trunk holds so much more than I thought it would. When you compare the price of this to the price of a traditional wooden toy box, you really can't go wrong. I haven't tried to stack this model, but I do have smaller ones and they do stack rather nicely at the end of the day. If you are considering the smaller trunk, please be aware they are considerably smaller. Two of the smaller trunks do not hold as much as this one, but they may be worth the difference if your children are likely to forget about the toys at the bottom. My 2 year old is able to dump the smaller trunk out on the floor easily to see all of the toys and clean up takes but a minute. The smaller trunks are much easier to move, making it practical to throw one in the trunk when traveling or just move them so you can clean the floor.
A warning, do not leave these lying around empty. When my trunks arrived (separate occasions) I unpacked them to take a good look at them, but was too busy to move toys into them from our old storage system right away. I had to rescue our cat, the kids put him in and zipped the trunk. I also had to stop the kids from running around blindly with the smaller trunks on their heads. My older child tried to zip herself in the large one. From the progress she made (so quickly!), I would guess it extremely easy for a child to be trapped inside.
Prior to purchasing these trunks, I had used plastic 3-drawer carts with removable wheels. I believe these come from Sterelite and Rubbermade. I do NOT recommend this. It seemed like a great idea, they look neat and clean, the drawers are not so deep that a toy gets buried and forgotten. However, when toys are not put in very carefully, the drawers will not close and they jam easily. If your items are too heavy, the plastic frame may warp and then the drawers will not close at all. These carts are great for lightweight purposes, such as clothing, but certainly not toy storage.
