Customer Review: Contains diapers, not odors

We have been using this poop trap for 8 months. The foot pedal is convenient. The trap door makes it easy to drop the diaper in and the lid shuts as soon as you take your foot off the pedal. This is advertised as being able to hold 30 diapers. Let me tell you something, your baby will probably not mind the smell because they do not know any better. You, on the other hand will throw up in your mouth if you have more than 3 "poopie" diapers in this thing. It does absolutely nothing to contain the odors from #2. Maybe my son is some kind of exception. While I think he is exceptional in many ways, I do not think that his "dirt" is any more exceptional than any other baby his age. We even tried a plug in air freshener right next to the can and it made little difference, just added a bit of a floral sent to the mix and somehow made the foul smell even more foul.
Honestly, I do not see much advantage to this diaper pail over a regular trash can that has a spring loaded lid.

I have four children and this is my third diaper pail. I kept getting new ones because I couldn't find a diposal that would eliminate the stink or was worth all the work of actually getting the diaper into the pail. Realistically, NO diaper pail is completely stink free. Changing out the bag every 2 or 3 days makes a big difference. The Diaper Dekor is by far the easiest pail to use - none of that twisting, pulling, and pushing as required by others. You just step on the pedal and drop the diaper through the "trap door", which has a child lock if you have curious toddlers. A cutter for removing the used portion of the bag is affixed to the inside of the pail. Plus, it keeps the stench at bay at least as long as any other diposal system. The description of this pail says it can be used later as a standard trash can and I would agree it's an option because of the look of the pail and the pedal. Liked this so much I bought one for my brother and his wife. . . Best pail I've used!Customer Review: Nice look and retains smell!

I think that this is a good disposable system, because I definitely do not smell anything in my child's room. Yes smells are released when the small trap door is opened, but you only have it opened for the time you shove the diaper through the hole. My friend had the diaper can that the bag had to be twisted and you had to put your hand far down in the can. EWWW is all I can say about that. I don't know what the problem was with that can, but it smelled. She and her husband would keep it in another room because it was so stinky, which of course defeats the idea of convenience. I didn't buy one just because of this, I mean come on, should you have to buy something for a disposable system? Anyway, back to this one. I am unsure how many diapers that we stuff into this thing, but it sure does the job that it was supposed to do in my book. I would definitely buy this again if I had to and would definitely recommend to anyone in general.Customer Review: I like it a lot

My wife was really against the idea of owning a diaper trash can. She wanted to buy a regular can and empty it every day. I said fine. Then one day as we were shopping, I came across to Diaper Dekor. Since the trash can she planned to buy had to be fancy (baby room decorating standards), it wasn't any cheaper than $40.
After a quick review of the product we decided to give it a try. It seemed simple and stylish enough to pass my wife's standards. I ordered it from Amazon and now we love this product. Our son is only 7 weeks old and is only having breast milk. I bet that helps with the smell but it still is a very convenient and easy to use product.
I haven't tested the other brands but this seemed to please us. I may have to add some pointers after we switch to solid food but for now it does the job.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Newer Version of Diaper Dekor

I have both the old and new versions of the Diaper Dekor. The new one has a larger foot pedal which does make opening the lid easier. However, this new version must have less than 1/2 the thickness in plastic or a much less rigid version of the plastic. The result is that opening it is very frustrating as the entire structure warps and twists along its long axis to the point that aligning the door latch takes at least 30 seconds with lots of banging with your hand to try to get it to shut. It is inferior to the older version because some MBA told them they would save lots of money on the production by reducing the quality. Don't buy this product if you can get the older version. Why not double/triple the price and use the money to make a stainless steel one?
