After a failed attempt to use another diaper pail we resigned ourselves to several daily trips to the trash outside. About 3 months after our son was born we received the dekor plus as a gift and were happily surprised by it! Easy and convenient and as new parents to our first child we were relieved! Fast forward 2 years and we are still happy! It is still an awesome product. We have had issues replacing the bags but that was because the person doing it hadn't slept for awhile (as parents tend to) and ripped the directions off before reading them. I love that it locks my 2 year old son (then 1) surprised me one day after he started walking by getting his hand stuck! Time to start using the lock! No harm done.
IT keeps the smell at bay if changed regularly! yes you get a strong smell when you put the diaper in but again if you change it regularly this is not bad. It does need to be wiped down to get all the stray crap off it when you change the refills but to be expected. I usually use a clorox wipe and it is done in a few minutes.
I love the fact that when my son was little I could wrap up his diaper step on the pedal and throw it through the hole and be done. (just remember when you lock it or it will rebound on you!!) Now that he is older and curious I lock it and he does not pay any attention to it at all except when we have him throw his diaper away!
Style is nice it is slim enough to fit beside the changer without blocking the way. I love that it is white! It fits in any decor!
I love the Dekor plus and will use it until my son is potty trained and then it will go into storage for our next child! Definitely a keeper!!
Customer Review: The Dekor Doesn't Stink! 8*P

My daughter turns 11 months old tomorrow, and we've had this pail since birth. Seeing 1000+ reviews on some diaper pails obviously shows that this is an invention people are passionate about... so how does the new Diaper Dekor Plus stack up? In the view of my wife and I, this pail is a winner.
On the #1 issue for any diaper pail, the Dekor Plus contains the stink. Every time we fill up the pail to the point where it is time to dispose of the accumulated evidence outside, I get a fragrant reminder of how well this thing works at containing odor on an everyday basis. We only notice the odor when we open up the unit to take a batch of soiled diapers to the trash, NOT when those same soiled diapers are seasoning inside the unit.
Taking a batch of diapers to the trash is easy as well. Open the lower door (fairly childproof design imo), pull down on the bag, tear off, tie knot and take outside to trash. Tie a new knot at the bottom of the remaining liner, close the door and its ready for new deposits.
In summary, any diaper pail is basically a luxury. You could skip the cost and just take the nastiest diapers outside to your trash. Basically, you are paying 5x more for a glorified trash can, so if money is tight, spend it on something important like a good car seat. In terms of refills, in 11 months we have gone through the 1&1/2 boxes, so we haven't exactly spent a fortune for our convience so far. Again, we probably could have used less bags if we only used the Dekor for the stinky diapers, and thrown the merely wet ones in the regualar trash... All in all, we're very satisfied with our Diaper Dekor plus and would recommend it to others.

I did a lot of research before deciding on the Diaper Dekor. We had a hand-me-down Diaper Genie which we think was broken, and did not like (hard to use, hard to empty, etc - all the same complaints as most of the rest of reviews). We needed a solution in our baby's room (previously throwing all away into our main bath garbage can...which became quite icky, quickly); when she was around 8 months. She's now 16 months old.)
After using this for around 8 months, when she's expanding her food quantity and selection, as expected, this system, I'd describe as adequate. My research indicated that, if you DO empty it twice/week (do NOT put 30 dirty diapers in it before emptying!!), and if you DO a lysol-spray and a good VERY hot water cleaning every once-in-awhile, you can keep the smell down. I tested those things. One week I forgot to empty till Sunday (trash day is Tuesday) and wowie......I could hardly stand it. So really, empty it relatively often. I do believe, after my research, that there is NOT a system out there that can contain dirty diaper smell. Period. This is our first kid, but have queried many of my friends who have multiple kids. MOST of those eventually resorted to the "tie-up-dirty-diaper-in-plastic-bag-and-throw-in-outside-or-garage-garbage-can" method. Some had a diaper genie, some had something else, etc etc.

I have to say that I love this diaper disposal system. I always thought that the Diaper Genie was tops but, the Dekor Plus changed my mind. So easy to use and kept the smell at bay. No annoying twisty action to push your hand down into like the Genie. It was great...then, the trap door broke, after 16 months of daily use which is not that bad.
So, my husband decided to try the Diaper Champ...VERY annoying to use when it gets slightly full because you can't open it. There is also the guillatine factor with my daughter's fingers...very scary since she started holding the open area as she moved the lever.
In any case, I went back to get a Dekor Plus. I was sad to see the new smaller Diaper Dekor model in stores after having the Diaper Dekor Plus but, since it was redesigned, I thought I would try it. I find it as frustrating and smelly as the Diaper Champ...something is very different smell containment-wise. I could smell the difference after one day of use. Not good. The new redesigned Dekor model also fills up VERY quickly and you can't push down the diapers as well as with the Plus.
Finally, I tracked down another Diaper Dekor Plus and bought it because I can't deal with either the new, redesigned, smaller Dekor, the Diaper Champ, or the Diaper Genie after using the Diaper Dekor Plus. I am much happier now. :)

Thoroughly disappointed in the Dekor Plus.
We purchased our unit 5 months ago (not at amazon) and from the start, it was never odor free (not even close). I would empty it daily and disinfect it but still the smell would linger in the plastic and escape into the room. And just about a week ago, one of the springs on the trap door popped off. So now, a product that already wasn't living up to its claims, is creating even more misery.
Additionally, I have to wonder what possessed their design team to create an interior wall that is comprised of small, nearly impossible to clean, chambers. I imagine it has to do with the structural strength of the unit's walls but it's an absolute nightmare to wipe down.
So again, we're completely disappointed in this product and for the price we paid we never expected this utter lack of quality. And to add insult to injury, every time I've tried to provide feedback at the Dekor web site, I get the following message: "Error submitting information. Please try again!" So annoying!!!
Sadly, it seems (based on customer reviews) that all of the other major brand name diaper pails have similar odor and/or quality issues...not sure where we go from here.
