this bedrail was very easy to get together, maybe 10 mins total [read directions, set out parts, etc...] but only 5 mins to actually put it together. and once you do it once, it's much quicker the second time.
i really liked the design. sturdy, simple, folds down. tall enough for a deep mattresses but not for pillowtops [tried it on different beds]. seems like the frame would last.
however, the material part will not. the white material and mesh is very cheap. the one i bought had to be returned because it was sewn incorrectly which resulted in part of the mesh not being attached to the vinyl[?] material. the mesh itself is not like you'd find on current pack and plays, it's much cheaper and seems like it would rip or tear if anything pushed or got caught on it. the white material itself is thin, and seriously why white? don't they know it's for kids? ecru, off-white, something other than white which is bound to get dingy.
overall, i am going to eventually purchase another one because it's better than the others out there. but, i'm hoping we won't have any problems down the road with wear and tear. don't know if it'll last, although for the price i'm guessing that's what you get.

Before buying, I read many of the reviews and looked diligently without success for dimensional information. On the box, the rail that extends above the mattress and swings down along side the bed is marked as 20 inches tall. This means that the top of your box springs (or platform) must be at least 20 inches off the floor for the rail to swing all the way down. If it doesn't, it gets in the way of making the bed or getting in and out of the bed. I bought mine for an elderly aunt, so this was an important factor. I ended up having to build a platform under the bed to raise it 4.5 inches. The horizontal width of the rail is 48 inches, so the one releasing the rail to swing down must be able to reach that distance to release the locks. The assembly instructions were not as clear as they claimed. There are no legs on this device that stand on the floor. The two tubular pieces at each end insert between the box springs and the mattress. The strap that goes between the box springs and mattress to the "anchor" on the far side of the bed was too long for a twin-sized bed and I had to tie a knot in the strap to shorten it. The finished product was fine and I would not hesitate to recommend it.Customer Review: Works Great!

We've only had this bed rail for about a month, but so far so good. My two-year old is a climber and he has climbed up and down and around that rail a million times without hurting himself or the rail. It is very sturdy and stays in place. I'd buy this product again.
Set up is easy -- there are only six pieces or so and they snap together -- no tools needed. My two-year old "helped" and we got it done in about 20 minutes. The only problem with the directions is that there are no pictures, so if you're a visual person you might have trouble identifying parts. But, the written description is detailed and fairly easy to follow.
The only issue I have is that the rail is too tall to fold down completely for our box spring. The distance from the top of the box spring to the floor needs to be at least 18 inches for it to fold down completely. We just have the rail fold down at an angle -- it makes it like a little ladder, which is fine.

We just set this up for our almost 2 year old. It was pretty easy to set up, but kind of hard to get the anchor to stay firmly. The rail often slides out a bit and we find ourselves pushing it back in. On her 4th night we all of a sudden heard crying and our daughter had fallen into the rail, it pushed out, and she was stuck on it dangling above the floor. She didn't hit the floor, but being half asleep and trapped on this contraption was definitely a bit scary for her. We'll try to tighten it even more, but it seems to slide out from under the mattress more than we expected. We set the bed up low, so we can't fold the rail down, it hits the floor, but she seems to like it kept up anyway. She climbs in at the far end of the bed where the rail is not set up. It is ok for the money and seems to do the trick usually. Hopefully she'll get used to the bed and we can remove the rail.Customer Review: Dex Products Safe Sleeper Bed Rail Ultra

I was looking for something sturdy, reasonably priced and safe as we were transitioning our 21 month old son from his crib to a twin bed. This product certainly lived up to these 3 expectations! Also, It folds down easily to be able to make the bed. The only slight negative I would say is that my twin bed frame, box springs and mattress are not high enough to be able to fold the rail down completely flat against the side. However, this isn't a big problem for me as you are still able to make up the bed easily. I looked at a million and one different products and reviews before settling on this one. The only additional comment I have is that I would definitely advise you to use the middle support rail whether you think you need it or not as it does give it added strength. I am very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it to others.
