Customer Review: Beautiful visual piece, many problems with extreme scratching

Wow, is this ever a beauty when it comes to the color and design, as I fell in love with this; at the bottom where the feet arch out. I pictured it a little bigger, and the pad that came with it was a joke, but I simply replaced the changing pad with something higher end from Babies R US. I liked the room available in the drawers, but I knew I had to get another dresser for all the babies stuff. This is a pretty dresser as far as mere appearance goes.
After my husband put it together, with lousy directions, all in picture form, with no written instruction, which took about 1 in a half hours, he scratched it without trying to, around 3 times. Now, after a couple of weeks we must have 30 some scratches and it is super easy to do. ( our cats think it is fun to jump on to lounge on as a cat perch with soft fluffy bedding.) The scratches are a real disapointment! This would be because the paint is cheap and there is no laquer to repel this sort of thing. If you buy this, consult with Home Depot or whatever concerning what type of product you could paint over it to keep the numerous scratches from occuring, because they will without sealant or something.
The drawers are not smooth, they are very sticky and if you don't use two hands to pull the drawers out, you will see the stickiness I am refering to which can be a pain when you don't have two hands available.
We also bought the crib, and we have not put it together yet....
