I purchased this item and was very disappointed in the volume control. Turned up to the highest possible volume, it was way too soft. Even having it placed right next to my head on the pillow, it was not loud enough. I returned it.Customer Review: Great sound maker

This divice is much better than the Sleep Sheep. The Sleep Sheep is cute, but ineffective as it shuts off after 30 minutes. With the Sound Sleeper, you are the one to turn it on or off. There are also many sounds to choose from. I prefer the ocean and my husband the night sounds. Only time will tell which sound my daughter prefers ;)Customer Review: So, so disappointed

Sucks...You can hardly hear anything! The sounds are distorted and it's just too quiet and well, cheap! Don't waste your money...the HomMedics one is great...simple and loud!Customer Review: Perfect for only child

Overall this is an OK sound machine...definately worth it if you have an only baby or a first baby on the way. The different sounds are nice so the kid doesn't get used to one sound which should help with getting him/her off it when they get older. I do have to say that the "buoy" sound is kind of erie but then the "womb" sounds have always creeped me out.
Great for travel with the corded or non-corded options, and very cool for not automatically turning off in an hour or two.
However if you have an older kid running around this simply is not loud enough. Our maniac of a two year old can drown this thing out from two rooms away from yelling, screaming or all around craziness that he gets into.

This is a low cost item......Perhaps made in a third world nation....Very low volume, had to place it almnost next to my ear to hear it. Power cord would not stay pluged in, big problem. DONT'T RECOMEND you buy this second rate thing!
