Baby Products Reviews of DEX Products Electric Baby Food Processor

Customer Review: Very disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

Sadly, for me, this product was a waste of time and money. The motor is very very weak, and I found that I had to finely dice fruit and veges before it would even turn. When I first bought the product, it broke within two weeks, while processing 1cm cubed apples. Even though I had followed their instructions to pay attention to fit the sealing o-ring into place -- there was a burning smell coming from the engine and the o-ring broke soon after. Customer service was excellent and they shipped me a replacement promptly. I was convinced I had a lemon and that the replacement would be better. But sadly, this was not the case. The second machine operated just as poorly. In the end, I was hand grinding food for my baby, with the processor sitting unused on my kitchen counter. This machine cannot even handle diced soft ripe bananas... I would not recommend this product -- pureeing by hand is faster, or if you wanted to use an appliance, put your child's food in a normal blender to puree instead.

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I tried this before my baby was born and I like it. I needed some fresh fruit for my 6 month old niece. She was having bowel issues I was told to give her fresh fruit in stead of jars. It did not take long the food to look like the stage 2 foods in the store. I saw the blade goes up and down to try to get all the food. I defiantly recommend this to any one who want the best food for there baby. Home made food is so much healthier for babies than jar stuff, in my opinion.

I saw in some reviews that people did not like this processor because it would only chop foods like carrots, apples and pears. I would like to make a comment to that. Check any cook book and in order to puree any of those foods you need to boil them first. So please don't use that review for your opinion. Would you eat veggies with out cooking them first! Take what you make for your table and then put it in the processor for the baby, and add a small amount of milk to make it softer!

Customer Review: Baby food made easy!
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like this product. I have 3 children and never used a food processor until now (my 3rd baby). I realize I spent so much money on jarred foods that I didn't need to.
It was simple, put the food in (you can add a little liquid if you want it smoother - but i found it wasn't absolutely neccessary). Push the top down and presto - in about 10 seconds you have baby food.
easy to clean, comes apart very easily and goes back together easily.
There are only 4 parts- the container the food goes in, the blade, the cover and the motor. Nothing to lose.
I reccomend this product to anyone who is short on time (3 kids (12, 3, 8mos), my husband and I both work full time +, swimmng lessons, 2 pets, needless to say we got alot going on and making the food actually makes life easier w/ this product!

Customer Review: Great little processor
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this processor for a couple of months now, and my baby likes the fresh food much better than the jarred stuff. It's very small, so you can't make a huge quantity of food at one time, but it's perfect for making food for one or two meals. Baked chicken, mashed (or baked) potatoes, and canned peas with a little water (for example) mix up into a stage 2 consistency in seconds. It is always neccesary to add a little liquid (water, milk, soup stock, juice) to the mix to make it blend well.
It's easy to use and clean. I wash it by hand, and yes, the blade has some nooks you have to get into. Try a bottle or nipple brush. It's not a problem. I havn't had any problems with chipping or with the blades, and I use it every day.
All in all, a very useful little gadget.

Customer Review: Does the job...but has a critical design flaw
Summary: 2 Stars

This blender does a great job blending the food but the design is flawed. I can only assume that they intended to simplify use by skipping a button or switch. What you do instead is push-down the top part (motor) into the base where the blade is balanced on a metal tip. The problem is that the motor starts before the top and blade are secure. The result is two plastic pieces that aren't moving in harmony; and the gears grind down .... game over.

You can make this work without the grinding of the gears only if a. you always combine the two parts perfectly or b. unplug before snapping together.

In our case, my wife wasn't properly licensed and she seems to grind the gears every time :) The unit lasted about two weeks. We use an immersion blender now.
