Baby Products Reviews of Cloud b Twilight Constellation Night Light, Turtle

Customer Review: great for transitioning to one nap and for an energetic child
Summary: 5 Stars

I was hesitant to buy this product because it did say for 3 years and up. However, I was desperate because we have been having a really hard time with naptime and bedtime recently with our almost 13 month old son no matter how long or how little we wait between naps. Having just recently weaned him from the bottle, he did not fall asleep as easily (sometimes he would take 30-45 minutes to fall asleep though he was really tired). Today, I transitioned him to one nap after slowly moving his morning nap later and later after realizing he might be ready for one nap, and turned this on on a side table in his room. This along with the sleep b sheep calmed him to sleep in 15 minutes. I think he's just getting to an age where he needs a little more to wind down, so creating a "dreamy" effect in his room, along with a cuddly sheep, really did the trick. Hopefully, this will continue to be the case! On another note, I am glad the stars don't move-I think that would actually more stimulating-even if slow, for a toddler that needs to go sleep. If you are having trouble getting your toddler to wind down before sleeping--despite already having a routine for them, this will be a great addition to their room. I am so happy we bought this!

Customer Review: Excellent birthday gift for my daughters!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had seen these turtles in a magazine and thought they were creative and unique. When shopping in a local store, I found them sitting on the shelf...and bought 2 of them, one for each of my daughters' birthdays (turning 1 and turning 5). They were given recently and both girls love them.

It took some figuring to find the right placement so the stars would show up as best as possible on the ceiling. And like other reviews have said, the amger stars don't show up real well...but the green and blue work really well. They add a soft, subtle light to the room without being too bright. Both girls - especially the 1-year-old - like staring at the stars at lights out time. I like the 45-minute timer...plenty of time for the girls to fall asleep, but not on all night.

I don't know how much of an educational aspect the turtles offer, as the constellations are a bit tricky to see, even with the included star charts. However, I wasn't looking for a teaching tool in the turltes, I was more interested in the unique night light. I have a feeling both girls will get a lot of use out of their turtles.

Overall, I think these are a great concept and would recommend them.

Customer Review: A great gift, we've bought several!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a GREAT product. Our kids (4 & 6) cannot sleep without it. And neither can we! Every night we sneak into the kids room after they've fallen asleep and "borrow" their Twilight Turtle for our room.

We gave one to a recovering stroke patient and it has been great for her as well, she loves to count the stars and can't sleep without it now.

If you put this on a coffee table in the middle of the room it literally covers the ENTIRE ceiling with stars and sometimes the surrounding walls as well.

GOOD:

-Doesn't need to be plugged in and doesn't go through batteries too quickly
-Covers a large area with blue, red, or green stars
-Turns off by itself after about an hour
-Looks cute even when just laying around turned off
-Fun "mood light" for parties

BAD:

-We keep spending money on these things for other people as gifts!

*NOTE*

This is not supposed to be a planetarium type of experience. Stars are not very realistic and are all about the same size. You won't feel like you're looking up at the real sky but it sure beats looking up at a blank ceiling!

Customer Review: After 3 years, we still love these!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have the turtle for my son who is 5 and has had it for several years, and the ladybug for our daughter who is 3. As far as "optimal placement" goes, it works sitting on the floor, on the bedside table, but most of the time we put them on the foot of their beds. They are durable, because they have been dropped (though mostly on carpet), stood on, and generally abused, and they are still going strong. I think in the 3+ years we've had the turtle, we've changed the batteries once. We've had the ladybug for probably almost 2 years and I think the batteries are original. When the batteries get weak it gets harder to see, but in general they give off just the right amount of light. They're great to take along for sleepovers and vacations (though bulky), and our kids don't like to go to bed without them. I agree that the amber color does not show, and the red on the ladybug doesn't show well either. I also don't like that the turtle can only be turned off from the bottom. The ladybug has a shutoff on top as well as underneath for when it accidentally gets turned on. Overall, I think this was a great purchase and I'd recommend them to anyone!

Customer Review: Would order it again, tho hope not to
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great, magical product. My 3 y/o daughter loves it, and uses it every night as a night light and sleepy-time friend. I must inform you that this is her second Twilight Turtle, as the first one stopped working for whatever reason...no response to new batteries, after two years of nightly use. That's why I have rated this product 4 instead of 5 stars, since I'm not sure it should have "died" like that, since it was not abused, dropped, stomped on or otherwise battered. It lived a pretty cushy life, as a matter of fact. Still, the bottom line is that my kid loves it, loves being able to turn it on herself & change the colors, plus it's transportable, so you're not stuck with only one starlit room in your home. (This is particularly useful when spending the night at Grandma's house.) So I would buy the Turtle again, though I hope we don't have to. The second incarnation seems a little better-constructed than the first, with stitched eyes (rather than glued), and a slightly thicker shell. And finally, we have the Ladybug too--thanks to an indulgent Auntie--equally loved, so a good product, no matter which creature you choose.
