Baby Products Reviews of Cloud b Twilight Constellation Night Light, Turtle

Customer Review: Cute, but lacking.
Summary: 4 Stars

This turtle just arrived not too long ago, and after giving it a once-over I gave it a whirl. Honestly, for the price, I believe they should have offered some more options with the item. A soft music box feature, or an actual "twinkle" effect would have been nice. The shell of the turtle is made of plastic, but its extremely light weight, so its not that bad of a deal when used around young children that like to explore new things. The head, arms, legs and tail (Cutest part, if you ask me) of the turtle are made of very soft material, so it can pass as a child's cuddling toy. When switched on, the turtle offers three colors: Blue, Amber and Green. The blue and green work fine, but the amber color is a lot harder to see on the walls and ceiling. Overall, all of the colors are slightly difficult to see without complete darkness. The closer to the wall or ceiling the turtle is, the clearer the stars are. Overall, its a night light, that's about it. It serves it purpose, even though the "brightness" of the light isn't that great unless its right next to the child. Don't plan on raiding the fridge in the middle of the night with this thing as a source of light. Mr. Turtle runs on 3 "AAA" batteries, so I'm not sure on how long he'd/she'd last with constant usage. I recommend this item for younger children, more prone to be satisfied with a light effect toy. I'm not really sure if I agree with the price, but my final verdict is this: If you're looking for a soft, cuddly, light weight night light, go for it. After all, you'll never know how cute this thing really is until you purchase it. Plus, shipping was fairly quick (I got him overnight, he shipped the next day).

Customer Review: Excellent Product, My Son Loves It!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Twilight Turtle for my toddler because I wanted a nightlight that he can control from his crib. The large, easy-press buttons for On and Amber/Blue/Green light are at the back of the shell and are very easy for my son to use.

The turtle remains on for 45 minutes, which is more than enough time for him to comfortably fall asleep after waking and turning the turtle on in the middle of the night.

My son loves to look at the stars on his ceiling and he also loves to turn the turtle over to look at the stars on his clothes, body, and bedding. He oohs and ahhs in wonder as he moves the turtle around to see stars where ever he wants to see them.

When the turtle is in his bed, the stars on the ceiling are large, but not indistinct. It is not possible to make out the constellations when the turtle is so far from the ceiling (the ceiling's high point is 12 feet), but at this age, he doesn't have a clue as to what a constellation is, so it doesn't matter at all.

The Off switch is on the underside of the turtle, under a soft flap. This is the only way to turn the turtle off if you don't want it on for the full 45 minutes. I've never had a burning desire to turn it off, so it doesn't bother me.

The shell is a hard plastic, but the head, tail, and legs of the turtle are chenille with soft and plush filling. My son absolutely loves the Twilight Turtle, and I have just purchased the Twilight Ladybug for my infant daughter.

Customer Review: Great friend for the dark
Summary: 5 Stars

Suddenly my 3 yr old developed a fear of the dark, don't know why. I needed something that would distract him from the fact that his ceiling lights were off. He would get up and turn them on almost instantly after we left the room and since we take him potty before we go to bed we had to leave them on then too because he was freaking out. This little turtle has restored peaceful sleep to our household. My son loves the stars and green is his favorite. All the colors show up well. I love that it shuts off automatically and that I can turn it on when I take him potty knowing that he will get 45 minutes of stars but then I don't have to worry about it being on all night. It is adorable and holds up well. The shell is very strong because my son actually stood on it the other day and although I discouraged him from ever doing that again, it held up great. The wonderful thing about this product is that it looks like a stuffed animal and looks very comforting but it can only work when the lights are off, built in reward to sleeping in the dark. The buttons are very easy to use and that is great because he can turn his turtle on and off... he likes to take it in dark closets during the day to see the stars. I could go on and on because this is a really well thought out, well designed, and child-friendly product. When my baby girl is older or going through a stage of being afraid of the dark I will definitely order her the ladybug.

Customer Review: Very sweet, but could use a few upgrades
Summary: 4 Stars

Ok, so the history: we bought this to help my 2 year old transition to a toddler bed from her crib. I must admit, this is just as cute in person as the pictures on the web site. I would give it 5 stars, but because of the following minor points, I gave it 4:

-the amber color is stunning on the turtle, but a little too pale to really show stars on the ceiling--kind of a bummer since its such a pretty color.
-I wish this thing came with a few songs or classical music or something.
-Obviously the shell is hard, so it is NOT a crib toy. This has been somewhat of an issue because my daughter loves it so much she wants it with her. (Which kind of defeats our purpose of getting her to lay quietly in bed to fall asleep.)
-Be aware that the light shining through the tiny holes in the shell is very bright--keep your baby's eyes away from looking directly at it--up close that is. (This happens only occasionally based on your angle, but when it does happen, the light can be very rough on your eyes especially in a dark room.) Now I know you're thinking: isn't that obvious? Of course it is for an adult, but for a two year old, she can't help but pick it up and look directly into the shell. We've had to move it to the top of her bookshelf where she cannot reach it at night.

ALL in ALL a great buy--just know what to expect. Overall, I'd buy this as a gift for other kids as well.

Customer Review: Life saver...but then the lights went out! Literally
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this last Christmas for my 2 year old. She was having problems settling down in her new bed and with a new baby in the house...well life was feeling pretty tough for her. The turtle was a life saver. On first look it didn't seem very interesting and I wondered if she'd pay any attention to it. But that night when we turned it on...it was fantastic. It provided a little Mommy time as we talked about the moon and the stars. Then she'd snuggle down and drift off to sleep. We had to make the room dark at nap time so we could turn it on again (blue color is fairly bright). After almost a year of exhausting use...we are down to one bulb left. The amber color which is dim. We use it and I'm just praying it lasts until Christmas. I was disappointed to find out that the lights can't be replaced. They are hardwired in. We are moving on to a day/night clock for Christmas, in an attempt to teach her to stay in bed just a little longer.

It was a great bedtime toy and Abs has a lot of interest in the moon and stars now. At almost 3, she pays close attention to the sky and is pretty good in picking out the details. We have had many discussions about why the moon and sun are up at the same time. We've discussed why some stars are brighter than others and we've even seen a shooting star! Thanks for the experience Cloud B...wish you would make those lights replaceable!
