Customer Review: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC PRODUCT
Summary: 5 Stars

I happen to be just one of those types who always seem to have the worst luck when it comes to buying things online, either the items are always broken, malfunctioning, defective or misplaced or lost, and therefore I had always been very wary of commiting myself to online buying especially after a number of very unpleasant experiences.I had recently purchased the lavender lab from cloud b which turned out to be a total dud.I had already placed my order for the twilight turtle before recieving the lab and hence was setting myself up for another huge dissapointment, but boy! was I pleasantly surprised!! I had read many bad reviews of this item and was thoroughly expected facing the same problems as the other customers, but this was one product which completely restored my faith in online buying again!!Its absolutely fabulous, delivering every bit of what is promised and worth every cent!! The turtle is beautifully made, very appealing to the eye and touch, soft enough to be cuddled by a child, and it works wonderfully. It projects very clear stars with even a crescent moon, the colors, (I got the blue, green and amber)are all very sharp, even the amber. The turtle projects decent sized stars, clearly visible to the eye, and I found that contrary to most reviews, the stars projected by all 3 colors are sharp and very well seen, even the amber. The display of stars is amazing, projecting a wonderful soft glow, this is ONE product which is DEFNITELY genuine in doing what it promises. The only tricky part may be the placement of the turtle to get the best display on the ceiling, but this has nothing to do with the rpoduct itself which is just AWESOME, if you have a kid or are yourself a stars and moon fancier, DEFNITELY go out and get one of these, worth every penny, and I absolutely recommend this, greatest lil device ever.

Customer Review: A totally cool nightlight!
Summary: 5 Stars

This turtle is super cute, but it's not cute in a girly way. I bought this item at a local store for my son several months before he turned 3. It has a soft plush head and feet and a hard plastic shell. Its belly is covered in soft plush and contains the workings, so it has an inner box under the plush. Just so you know, it's not too much of a "hugging" toy--what with the shell on top and the box inside--but the plush fur is very soft and the head and legs are squishy, like other stuffed animals. There is a plush fabric flap on its belly that reveals the battery door (with the usual screw driver entry found on children's toys) and an on-off switch. Occasionally my son has somehow flipped that belly switch and not been able to turn the turtle light on with the button on its back, but that is an easy fix. As for the buttons on the shell, this toy is easy for my son to turn on or off, or to change the colors.

We really haven't tried all that much to spot the constellations. I think what other people said about using a large room is probably true, as the corners between the ceiling and the walls tend to distort the star locations. I do think it's totally cool that Cloud B tried, however, instead of just slapping a bunch of random star holes on the shell. As my son gets older, we may use it to teach constellations.

That being said, this is a totally cool nightlight! I'd give it a definite 5+ stars for comfort. The light is soft and gives my son light nearby to sleep with--not just over on the wall, the way a plug in nightlight would be. I'll also mention, my son likes his turtle in his loft bed, where all of the three star colors show up fairly well on the ceiling. I like that it shuts off after 45 minutes and that it comes with batteries.

Customer Review: We love Twilight Turtle! (MUST USE RAYOVAC BATTERIES FOR IT TO WORK!)
Summary: 4 Stars

We absolutely love the Twilight Turtle at our house. I have a 3 year old and 1 year old. They share a room that is 10'X10' (small) with standard height ceiling and the stars show up well no matter what level the turtle is placed at (on bed, dresser, etc.). It's great because it shows actual constellations that you can learn about and then look for the real ones outside sometime. Here is the reason I gave Twilight Turtle only 4 stars: We got him January 2010. The batteries he came with lasted quite awhile. When I changed them late July/ early August he suddenly didn't work anymore. I could see through the holes that the amber light was on, but not projecting and the blue and green were not coming on at all. We were so sad. I didn't think there was any way to do an exchange, or I just didn't feel like dealing with it because I bought it online and it had been 8 months. I kept putting off dealing with it, but continued to be sad about not being able to use the turtle. Last week I finally decided to try to contact the manufacturer, Cloud B. I contacted them via email. They responded very promptly and gave me a list of suggestions about what could be causing the issue. The issue turned out to be that I had put in Energizer batteries. Apparently Energizer and Kirkland signature brand batteries in particular have a very short "neck" or connector point. Cloud B suggested using Rayovac. I immediately went out and got Rayovac batteries and our Twilight Turtle is back! I am so glad I decided to contact Cloud B and figure this out. Otherwise, sad to say, he would have been tossed. I feel that Cloud B should have made it known about the battery issue from the beginning, but they really did have great customer service.

Customer Review: Great idea, terrible product
Summary: 2 Stars

Being an amateur astronomer and now a parent, I was enticed by the idea of a cute & cuddly product that could help spark an interest and love of astronomy in my children. The idea here is sound and good. The actual product, once received, left me bitterly disappointed. Despite other reviews I've seen here on Amazon, don't expect a CD of relaxing music to come with the turtle.. and don't expect even a 45 minute timer. This has neither. There is a button to turn it on and off.. and a button for each of the three color choices (green, blue and yellow.) I wholeheartedly agree with one of the other reviewers that the yellow lighting is so dim it's hard to see the stars, even in a very dark room, compared to the other color choices. Mind you, I'm writing this from a geek parent's point of view. I doubt most kids would care. I was also disappointed with the actual projection itself - the stars are all the same size, pentagram star-shaped and all the same color. Even with only the "major" stars represented, this still makes it difficult to locate constellations, since the star's brightness and color is a major guide in locating them in the night sky. The upshot of this is that even someone quite familiar with the night sky has trouble locating the easy constellations - I can't imagine the average parent helping their child to see them. It'd also be nice if the moon's phase was adjustable, although there are probably easier ways to teach kids about the moon. In the end, I'm thinking $30 is really expensive for a night light and the quality is far too low to be a decent teaching/inspiring tool. One could easily make a better product by poking an old star map with pin holes and laying it down on a light board.

Customer Review: A real star filled sanctuary
Summary: 4 Stars

Wow, so many things I want to say about this product.

First off, I have always dreamed about sleeping outdoors, but being afraid of coyotes, bugs, and rapists, I figured that is not the best choice. So, in an attempt to make my dream come true, I ordered this turtle. And may I say that it defied all of my expectations. As the stars and the moons fill my room, I literally feel like I am sleeping outside. When I pair it with my ocean sounds cd, I am reminded of the days when I would drunkenly fall asleep during beach parties, only to be woken up by the arriving officers after the bon fire has already died out.

Not only that, but I get the option of three colors- blue, green, and amber. I go with the green most of the time. The other two are also quite beautiful. It also makes a great nightlight and the plus is that it automatically turns off after 30 minutes, saving the battery. Essential if you have not taken the time to invest in the rechargeable ones.

It actually took me a while to choose between the turtle and the ladybug. I decided to go with the turtle to represent Maryland's terrapins, so when my dorm mates ask me why the hell do I have a stuffed toy, I tell them it's all in school spirit.

I took away a star because apparently it is an attractive dog chew toy. The first day my puppy tried to chew on it. To be fair, he is an overly aggressive chewer, and has eaten pretty much every object he comes upon. Unless it's a balloon or a ball, then gets scared shitless...literally. Luckily I caught him in the act, so no real damage was done. But it was a close call.

All in all, I can honestly say this turtle has completed my life.
