A friend gave us the sleep sheep travel size for a baby gift before our daughter was born. I put it on a shelf and forgot about it until my daughter started daycare at 12 weeks old. The first week, I arrived to pick her up one day and she was snuggled up asleep in her crib with another baby's sleep sheep. She loved it! I pulled ours off the shelf and she has had it at daycare ever since (she is now 13 months old). We also bought one for home and it is great when we travel to ease the transition of sleeping in a different place. I like that the smaller size can be attached to the bars of the crib with a velcro strap so we never had to worry about the safety issues with having a stuffed animal in her crib that she might pull over her nose/mouth. She now can turn it on by herself, which is helpful when she wakes up in the middle of the night. This is a great product for the following reasons:
-Perfect size
-Great idea that you can take it along and velcro it anywhere.
-You don't need the big version, in my opinion this size is much more convenient.
-Great quality.
-Batteries are included
-I like the idea of having the buttons uncover for easy access.
-It has 2 modes for timing: 25 min. and 45 min., since this runs with batteries I believe is a good idea not to have it running the whole night.
-It comes with 4 different sounds: Rain, Stream, Ocean waves, whales.
-There is a volume setting.
-Not too pricey, we paid around $24 for it. It seems that Amazon has it cheaper right now.
It really does the trick of putting anyone to sleep (including myself).
The only con is that it does not come with the heartbeat sound.
I would recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this when my son was about 6 weeks-old. I have used it pretty much every night at bedtime. He now associates it with sleep. It attaches with velcro straps and I have it strapped to the glider. I started out by turning it on at a low volume when he was nursing and sleepy, then I would slowly increase it to the volume I wanted. I set it to 45mins and press it again when it's almost about to go off. Sometimes I do that 3x if he is restless. I have never replaced the 2 "AA" batteries. So it isn't wasteful of battery life.
My son is now 5 months-old and I am using the sleep-sheep in the daytime when he is kind of sleepy and I put him in the swing. I think it helps him to fall asleep in the swing instead of playing the whole time. It also helps to obscure noises created by neighbors upstairs and cars in the parking lot, until he is in a deep sleep. Really happy with this product.

I got this for my second baby, born Nov 2010. We turn this on whenever it is nap time and it immediately calms him down and helps him fall asleep. It also drowns out noise that my husband and I make, so we don't wake him up. I also use it while my toddler naps to drown out noise. We use it multiple times a day, and I still haven't needed to change the batteries. The noise machine easily comes out of the sheep for easy washing. It gets quite loud, definitely loud enough to be effective for soothing a newborn who is used to the loud womb. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I wish there were an option to not have it automatically shut off. It would be nice for it to stay on for entire naps so I don't wake my kids up in our small house by making noise. I definitely recommend this product! It's my most useful baby item other than swaddling blankets, pacis, and baby carriers.Customer Review: Good in theory, BUT..

We owned the original size sleep sheep when my now-5 year old was born, and although we liked the product fine, it wasn't a must-have. When my youngest son (now 5 months old) started showing signs of colic, we bought the travel version hoping that it would help him to at least rest a little while we were out and about. The product has all kinds of technical difficulties - there's a timer that's supposed to allow the sound to play for either 25 or 45 minutes. Doesn't work. The machine frequently shuts off after a few minutes, usually right as the baby is about to go to sleep which of course wakes him back up. Also, I often have trouble getting it to play at all and have to fiddle for 5 minutes with the volume knob and trying different buttons to get it to start. It's not the batteries because we change them constantly. Just a faulty unit, I'm sure but for $25 I expected better.
