Baby Products Reviews of Chicco TravelSeat Hook On Chair, AdventureCustomer Review: Really cute functional chair. Summary: 5 Stars
I used these types of seats with my kids (don't trust highchairs) so I went looking for one for my granddaughter. All the secondhand baby stores were out of them, Walmart products suck. So I went looking online. This seat is a very good buy. Very simple to use. Super cute hippos on the attachment arms. Attaches to my counter top, patio table, kitchen table, etc. It comes with a neat little carry bag if you need to travel with it. and it is washable! great product. Not sure why people said it wouldn't attach to a table with a lip....you have to tip it to get it to attach, gotta be smarter than a chair! Super sturdy connection, doesn't move (if you do it right) I would reccommend this as well as buy it again or give as a gift. Would be ideal for apartment dwellers with limited space. The previous comments about the gap are true, sometimes you can't help but have a minor gap where stuff falls through, but the tip about a placemat works great. Only "downside" to it that I found.
Customer Review: Great compact chair Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this for a trip, and wound up using it every day at home too. We were able to use it when he was 5 1/2 months old, when he was first able to sit up on his own. We love the compact size -- no more tripping over the high chair in the middle of the kitchen! Our son likes being able to sit at the table with us at dinner. It installs easily, is very secure (we were actually surprised how stable it is), and the cover comes off and is machine washable. The clamps are deep enough to get around the trim under the table, and the rubber grips don't leave marks in the wood. It folds up flat for travel.
Downsides -- I wish it had a wipeable surface for daily cleaning. The clip for the safety strap often sticks, so we sometimes struggle getting him unhooked. The space between the chair and the table means more toys and food on the floor.
Customer Review: Does the Job Summary: 4 Stars
We haven't used this product much yet, but the overall reviews I read were right-on. We purchased it for our 18-mo-old. It does the job for what we wanted (a travel highchair), but it IS messy. I like the colors and strong construction, but it's not practical for us to try to dis-assemble each time, to use the carrying case. We just have it sitting fully assembled in the back of our (small) SUV full-time, for use when we are traveling and/or at friends' house for a meal. I have had a little trouble getting it to fit on our home table (which is oval, has a single pedestal leg and large pieces under the tabletop because it expands and has leaves in it), but overall it's designed really well to fit over a variety of types of tables...and I did manage it hook it to our table--just not in the exact place I would have preferred. I would recommend it.
Customer Review: Good space saver but extremely hard to keep clean Summary: 3 Stars
We bought the chair to save space and to bring our son closer to the table. It does that well, but it is EXTREMELY difficult to clean. It takes some wrestling to get the fabric off to wash, too much effort to do so with any regularity. My husband came up with the idea of throwing it into the dishwasher, which actually works really well (then we air dry it over one of the floor vents), but it still should be much easier to clean. As others noted, the food falls in the crack between the chair and the table, gets stuck in the creases of and under the hippos, and the fabric is anything but wipeable. Chicco should at least have made the arm pads removable, as they get the dirtiest. That said, we really like the space saving feature but are actively looking for an easier to clean alternative.
Customer Review: Great high chairs Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these chairs for my twins when they first started eating solids. Even though they are marketed as "travel seats", they were a permanent fixture at our dining room table for about 18 months. One of their best features is that they don't take up any floor space (unlike traditional high chairs). We also took the hippo chairs wherever we traveled, even overseas. I've never regretted choosing these over the traditional ones and would definitely recommend them. Yes, food does manage to get underneath the hippo grippers, but a mess is what you sign up for when feeding little kids, no matter what kind of chair you use. It's not hard to clean, either way. This week, my kids graduated to booster seats as they have now outgrown the hippo chairs. I miss the hippo chairs already.
