Baby Products Reviews of Bumkins 3 Pack Waterproof SuperBibCustomer Review: Quality Bibs, easy to wash Summary: 5 Stars
I love Bumkins Superbibs!!! I love that they are durable and easy to wash. They are light weight and don't leak through to the shirt. I can easily fold these very small and stuff it into my little 4.5"x8" travel pouch for eating out at restaurants. My bag holds two sets of fork and spoons, bendable straws, disposable placemats, scissors, and the Superbibs. NOTE: you do need to wash these after every meal and make sure to wash and flip out the pouch too. If I forget to wash the bibs after a dinner out, it does have a odd smell with the plastic bibs. Also you NEED to let the bibs fully dry out before folding the bibs away, or again, you'll get an odd smell. I usually wash the bibs after dinner and hang dry them on a counter dishrack. By next day's dinner, they are good to go.
Customer Review: Don't know why people rave about Bumkins bibs Summary: 2 Stars
I really do not understand the good reviews of these bibs.
We have had two main problems with them: 1) they have velcro fasteners: as soon as my daughter figured this out (at less than 10 months old) the bibs were unusable. They were off the moment I turned around. 2) any liquid runs either below or above the bib (some gets collected in the pocket, by just some). So, most liquids end up on my daughter's clothes or on the floor.
Better Bumkins bibs are the long-sleeved ones, which have string ties, but their pockets are useless (they are sewn in the middle, making two small pockets, but almost nothing gets trapped in them..). We ended up using the long-sleeved bib for first art projects.
I gave 2 stars because they indeed are a breeze to clean up.
Customer Review: not the same since production moved to China Summary: 1 Stars
These bibs used to be the greatest, thin, silky, completely waterproof and super-fast-drying material. But the company moved production from the US to China and it is just not the same now. It is waterproof, but the stiffness causes it to get in the baby's way and because it doesn't flow over baby's lap, more food ends up on the clothes. But if you can find one of the old ones made in the USA, those are great! The old style is so soft and supple, super-comfy for baby, and a breeze to wash (I just dunk the old one in dishwater and rinse) and dries amazingly fast. I wish they were still making these the same! I did find a cheap bib at Meijer that felt thin and silky like the old version of Bumkins but I haven't tried it yet to know for sure if it works as well.
Customer Review: Perfect except for the velcro factor... Summary: 4 Stars
I love these bibs. They wash amazingly easily (just swish them around in the washing up bucket or scrub them briefly with a sponge) and they dry so fast we've always got a clean and dry one ready for the next meal or snack. I periodically throw them in the washing machine with a load of laundry to get them extra clean. My only complaint (and the reason I gave 'em four stars) is that my 13 month old has discovered that they can be removed with a good tug. So I have to make sure she's got plenty of food to eat and that as soon as she's done I'm ready for clean up so she doesn't have time to get bored and start pulling on the bib. I've also used a chip clip over the velcro to keep it a little more tightly bound, and I'm considering sewing on some elastic.
Customer Review: Perfect for us! Summary: 5 Stars
We had been using the terry cloth ones which were fine, but most of them were getting too small around my son's neck and he's average size. I was also interested in a bib that had a little pocket. I was worried that because these bibs are soft, the pockets wouldn't catch anything - I was so wrong! They fit perfectly with room to grow and they catch tons! They're lightweight and especially good for restaurants in reducing the amount of food on the floor. When we're finished, I just flip the pocket inside out and rinse it under the faucet - easy. I should add that at a baby shower, I received a heavier expensive plastic bib that ended up being terrible- the piping around the edge tore and it stained easily. These are much better!
