Baby Products Reviews of Britax Vigour Stroller in BlueCustomer Review: BEST STROLLER EVER! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this stroller for my third child in 2007 and very glad that i did. i thought it was a little bit too much money to spend on a stroller because i've always owned graco travel systems(it was less money and you get an infant carseat), but i would always end up buying a new one after the first year because they seemed to break, we are a very busy family and always on the go so our strollers gets a lot of use. so when the last one broke, my baby was about 6 months, i went online and researched european strollers, i thought maybe i'd try a different kind to last me a little longer, the plastic parts on my graco strollers were the parts that broke. i've had the britax vigour for about 1 1/2 years and am now using it for 4th baby. the vigour is a bit on the heavy side when picking it up and bulky but thats all right i have a nissan quest van and it only takes me a few seconds to load it up. it is very well constructed and it seems its going to last me a very long time ,might even be the last stroller i will ever purchase.
my favorite part is the infinite recline and the seat that can face either forward or backwards. the adjustable handle works perfectly for both my husband and i. our family goes to sea world, aquatica, universal studios and disney at least every couple of months(we are passport holders, one advantage of living in florida)this stroller pushes soooooooo smoothly, i've also taken it to the beach and it also pushes through the sand without a problem because of the big rear wheels. the fabric is very easy to clean. i dont care for the chest harness and wish that they made it optional to remove.
i refused to buy one of those heavy bulky double strollers so i purchased a Valco Baby Hitch Hiker (Fits Twin) so my toddler can stand on it when going for our daily walk.(i have the jeep side by side Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport All-Weather Umbrella Stroller in Fiercethat i also keep in the car just in case my toddler is tired or asleep when we go somewhere.) the canopy doesnt really give much protection from the sun because its not adjustable so i purchased a ray shade(for both strollers) and it works well. and a plastic rain cover that i keep in the basket underneath just in case it rains. i also added one of those clip-on mommy organizer
Eddie Bauer® Belt Bag Stroller Organizerto hold drinks and my cell phone and keys. and for quick trips, instead of me using a diaper bag, i purchased a saddle bag Skip Hop Saddle Bag-Black, which straps on perfectly on the side of the stroller. it holds the babies diapers and wipes, extra onesie, a bottle and the air pump for the tires. i also keep a couple of those hanging hook/clips on the handle when i bring my purse. I've also made a little thin pillow so when my baby is asleep, his head doesnt bump on the metal side of the seat. its seems like i purchased a lot of other things to add on to this stroller but i dont regret it at all, these things make my busy life on the go with children a little bit easier. the way i see it, its like buying a car, they have the basic model and you can choose to add on other things to customize it according to your needs or liking. i i wish i would've purchased this a long time ago, BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT FOR ME AND MY BABY!
Customer Review: The sports car of the stroller world Summary: 3 Stars
This stroller reminds me of a old Porsche I once owned. No frills, lightweight, no cup holders, but performs very well.
Pricey=yes, you did not expect all of the above at a bargain price, did you?
The unit came packaged well as most Britax items that we have owned. We used this initially as a convertible car seat as the Britax Companion infant seat snaps out of the SUV and right into this unit. Everything worked great and both units attached themselves with no issues with only two simple pull levers.
Once our little baby grew out of the infant seat we switched over to a Britax Marathan (highly recommend) car seat and these do not snap into strollers (due to weight and size) and we had to use the included baby seat for this stroller. This is our largest complaint as the baby seat that comes with this stroller is as simple as a cloth bucket seat. The cover has very poor sun coverage and we find ourselves often placing a towel over the top to prevent the sun from hitting our baby's face while outside.
The cover just does not go up enough to do it's job unless the sun is behind the stroller. There are also no provisions for snapping on additional blankets, covers, etc to extend this protection.
Now the seat can attach either front facing or rear facing which is convenient and is very lightweight. The unit also folds down with ease for easy storage or travel. While fully open we can easily pop it into the rear of a Lexus GX470 without collapsing it. SUV's or cars with shorter ceiling heights will need to collapse the unit which only takes seconds and then this unit is only 12 inches tall.
The unit can also collapse with the seat attached which is convenient but and then is around 20" tall.
Large oversize wheels add to the stability of the unit while adding an aggressive look to the stroller.
There is a basket down below for storing a bag and is sizable enough to carry a diaper bag +whatever you need for one baby.
There are no cup holders though which can come in handy during outings. Aftermarket units are available.
Comfort wise the seat is very well made though a bit thin. This does two things; 1) Does not get as hot as other baby stroller seats which is a plus, 2) Does not offer as much cushion as other strollers. So ,it is a trade off of one or the other which requires Mom and Dad to decide which is more important.
Would be purchase it again? For an infant convertible stroller-yes. As a baby stroller using it's included baby seat=iffy.
Recommendations
Add further sun protection to this unit. Even if it was a snap on blanket to cover the entire unit for sun protection. This would really add to an otherwise great stroller.
Add 2 cupholders-would not impede on the weight of this stroller.
PROS
Very modern, sleek. Well made aluminum stroller. SEXY!
Very light
Nice convertible stroller for Britax car seats
Folds down very flat
Real air inflated tires for a great ride
Front wheels lock easily with oversized locking tabs
Plenty of bottom storage for one baby
CONS
Price-but you get what you pay for. Pay for a Chebbie and you get a Chevy. :)
Very poor sun control cover=our largest complaint.
No cupholders

Customer Review: Great maneuverability! Summary: 3 Stars
I must first admit that I am not a big fan of strollers in general; however, I thought it might be nice to take the baby for *walks* around the neighborhood. (If you might be inclined to jog or hike, go for the BOB.) Initially, I liked the Maclaren strollers because they fold up small, are light weight, easy to maneuver, etc. My husband, who is generally more practical (and is indifferent to having a stroller), suggested that for neighborhood walks in our neighborhood, pneumatic tires would be the way to go. I also wanted the option of changing the seat from forward-facing to rear-facing. The Bugaboos are great in this regard, but who really wants to spend $700 on a stroller? (It's a *stroller*).
I am not assembly minded at all; Lego directions throw me for a loop. When the big box arrived, I couldn't help but to dive right in. Within 30 minutes, I assembled it myself :-). Today, without the instructions (after about 10 minutes of yanking on things), I even managed to fold it and get it into my trunk. I am no connoisseur, but this stroller is somewhat absurdly big in the trunk of my Honda Civic. I rather ungracefully crammed it into the trunk for its first outing beyond our neighborhood. It reassembled quickly and easily, but I don't recommend it if you need a stroller for multiple errands. I wouldn't like taking it in and out of the trunk more than once a week (strollers are not my favorite), so for our needs, it just stays ready to roll parked in the garage and I just wheel it out when we walk. No trunk stuffing.
The most useless feature on this stroller is the sunshade, though I hesitate to call it that, as it does nearly nothing to block the sun. It needs an extension of some kind, as others have mentioned. The basket is generous for our needs and my water bottle easily fits in there (there seems to be an obsession about strollers that lack cup holders--I need a stroller to carry the baby, not my drink du jour, but that's a personal preference).
This stroller, though large for my tastes, handles really well. The infinite recline is very cool. The seat is a bit shallow. You'd think that with such a beast of a stroller, the weight limit could go well beyond the 35 lb. limit. The seat though--it doesn't seem like it will accommodate a long kid. We're not there yet. The colors are quite nice too!
I bought this for $200 (open box special), and it's worked out really well for my simple needs. Now what should I do with the $500 that I still have by not buying the Bugaboo?
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted! Summary: 5 Stars
I just purchased this stroller, and thanks to the reviews here on amazon I knew exactly what I was getting. For me, it's just right. I just went for a walk around the neighborhood in it and I found that the canopy is a bit short, but by adjusting the seat recline the sun stayed off my baby's face. I like the length of the canopy because it allows my baby to look me in the eyes while we walk. The number one reason I bought this stroller is because the baby can be turned to face me as I walk. I rarely see strollers that do that and that is important to me.
I am 100% satisfied with this stroller. I love the diversity it offers, I can have baby facing me or away from me, I can adjust the handlebar to any height and the recline is super easy to adjust. It's very easy to maneuver, great to push, and it even looks super cool! It is large when it is folded up in my trunk, but no larger than my Graco was. I have no complaints!
Customer Review: Great stroller for young babies Summary: 4 Stars
This stroller is fun and easy to push. The fabric is stylish and it goes great with the companion car seat. My concern is that my 12-month old reaches the foot rest, and he fills the tiny seat. This is a great stroller for a young baby, but don't plan to use it for a 2-year-old.
It is rather heavy, and folding takes two hands. It's rather difficult to get it folded without scraping it on the ground. The sunshade is small but you can buy an add on. So, just be aware that while the stroller itself works great, if you need to fold and unfold it a lot, or if you have a toddler, this is not the best choice.
Overall, though, I look forward to a walk with the baby each day with this stroller.
