Baby Products Reviews of Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat - GraystoneCustomer Review: Great Seat Summary: 4 StarsWe bought the seat in the limited edition Mossy Oak Camo, for DH of course. This is one of the first things we bought for our baby. After reading reviews, my parents still thought I was crazy for buying such an expensive carseat.
I would not bring my newborn home in this seat. Honestly, I probably wouldn't put a "normal" sized baby in this seat until 6+ months. My son happens to be growing like CRAZY. At 3 months old, he weighs around 16 pounds. He has been holding his head up since the day he was born (freaked me out) so I felt safe enough to install our Marathon and let him try it out.
He LOVES it. With his infant seat, he had gotten to where as soon as you sat him in it, he screamed. You put him in this car seat and he doesn't even whimper. He will sit back there wide awake and stare out the back window. I think the key for him is he doesn't feel like he's lying down. He feels like he's sitting up like a big boy.
My main word of advice is READ the manual. DH is stubborn, knows it all, and wouldn't read the manual. I'm car seat impaired, so it took me a while, but I finally figured it out. My problem was I couldn't find the latch straps that were hidden inside the car seat. After that, it was pretty simple.
I would definitely go with the car seat again and plan to buy another down the road.
Customer Review: Great Car Seat Summary: 5 StarsI purchased this car seat when my daughter outgrew her infant carrier and so fat the seat has been perfect, its easy enough to install and remove to put in other cars, the padding and protection are suburb. I did research galore prior to my purchase because i wanted the best seat for protection without spending $400.00. I love the color and the softness of the fabric, my daughter seems to enjoy it too!
Customer Review: great carseat Summary: 5 Starsthe Britax Marathon is working perfectly for our 1 year old. We've only had it for a month but it seems to be well made. I think my favorite feature is the no-tangle straps, which make strapping in a wiggly baby much faster.
Customer Review: Britax Car Seat Summary: 5 StarsAs a new 59 year old Grandma, I was able to buy this for my car, install it (and I have arthritis) without difficulty and it functions.
Customer Review: Very Pleased Summary: 5 StarsVery happy with this carseat. It is easy to install, we still have it rear-facing for our 11-month old son. It is solidly built, I feel safe with him in it. Another important thing: Comfort. Most seats, it seems, have just a thin layer of padding atop the hard molding of the seat. This seat, however, is nice and plush.
When we had this seat checked by our local carseat technician at the firestation he said not to use the tether system until we turn the seat around, the Britax website says you can use the tether rear-facing but we see no point, plus there are no anchors in that position in my car.
One negative is the first couple of weeks , we had our son in the seat with the straps in the lowest position and to tighten him in, while pulling on the front tightener, the metal mechanism under the seat was catching on the molding thus preventing us from tightening as much as needed. But the fireman said to loosen the straps and re-tighten. When he gets a little bigger and graduates to the next level strap height, that will not be an issue. Even now after about a month of use, it is not an issue.
Other than that, our son is very happy in his new 'big boy seat'. I would purchase this seat again if I needed to.
