Baby Products Reviews of Born Free Twister Brushes

Customer Review: Work well with the Born Free Bottles
Summary: 4 Stars

These brushes come as a set--as most bottle brushes do: one brush for the bottle and one for the nipple.
Overall, they get the job done quicker than other brushes on your Born Free bottles.
We used the Dr. Brown's and Munchkin brushes prior to switching to these and I found that these brushes probably cut my wash time by 10-33%.

These all-sponge ended brushes don't scratch the bottles or nipple--as some other brushes might. This is somewhat of an issue for the silicone parts of the Born Free bottles, as a bristly brush might actually poke or tear the silicone, resulting in leakage.

In any event, the only downside to an all-sponge ended brush is that the sponges don't last terribly long--maybe 2 months (and I use them until they're useless). Then again, I'm pretty hard on my brushes since I clean all the bottles nearly every night.

Further, the larger brush doesn't clean smaller sized bottles (like your Medela pump bottles), so you might spend some time using the smaller brush cleaning them.

I recommend these brushes for your Born Free bottles. Best of luck on taking care of your little one!

Customer Review: Outrageously overpriced and cheaply made
Summary: 1 Stars

While one does not need to purchase the BF bottle brush (Munchkin's is more than adequate - better even - at $3 or so), I've found the nipple brush is very useful. Munchkin's bottle/nipple brush Munchkin Bottle Nipple Brush -1 Piececonsists of stiff bristles. While this is fine for silicone nipples, BF's specialized vent has the aforementioned "mini-nipple" which is very delicate. I've always been afraid that even gentle brushing with the bristle brush would tear the slit (the silicone is very thin here). Thus, if one wants BF's soft foam nipple brush (which does indeed work well), one will pony up $14.99 list for not only the nipple brush, but also the bottle brush. They are not sold separately. They are made of cheap foam with plastic handles - that's IT! - and they wear out quickly. Outrageous to all intelligent parents out there. The cost of producing these has to be infinitesimal. Why gouge the consumer for brushes to clean BF's bottles? Insulting and greedy, and counterproductive to generating brand loyalty.

Customer Review: Awesome Brush....best ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with other reviews it does not last long, but nor did the munchkin the foam tore on that too. And replacing it for sanitary reasons alone makes sense. I have to put corn oil in my daughters formula for her to gain weight and this is the only brush that gets the oil out. The bristle brushes are ineffective. Once I figured out how to use the brush and let the twister work for me, bottle cleaning is a snap. Put the head into the bottle and start rotating the twister...zoom zoom zoom....and the bottle is clean...and the little brush for the nipples is the best at getting the oil off too. I haven't come across a formula yet that needs to be bristle scrubbed out....you'd have to leave it in the bottle for days....for that to happen...so the harsh cleaning surfaces are not necessary...LOVE LOVE LOVE this brush buying second set...got 3 months out of it.

Customer Review: Much better than Munchkin brushes
Summary: 4 Stars

I went through many brushes in my daughter's infancy. I worked full time so there was a lot of bottle washing at the end of the day. Most of them were the Munchkin ones that you find at most drug stores. Then I discovered Born Free and these are the ones I'm ordering again for my second baby. Bristles don't effectively clean out the nipple part of bottles, you will be leaving residue every time. The Munchkin sponge is too large for this part, and their nipple bristle brush is terrible - barely any scrubbing surface and quickly rusts. Born Free's nipple sponge brush is ideal, and the large brush is good for the main bottle body. I used it with the Breastflow bottles, which have a double nested nipple design.

Like any sponge, expect to replace these brushes after a few months as they do compress. Use less force and it will last longer.

Customer Review: interesting design, but doesn't hold up
Summary: 1 Stars

Pros:
+ Twist action is interesting
+ No bristles mean no scratching of bottles

Cons:
- Bottle brush is falling apart after just 4 mths for a nursing baby (e.g., not that many bottles!) and the foam section of bottle brush is so wide that it's practically unusable with other brands
- Expensive, especially when you consider how quickly they need to be replaced
- Nipple brush is poorly designed; when inserted into the nipple, the foam slides off to the side leaving just the plastic handle

Bottom line: Don't buy.
Instead: Head to your grocery store's dishwashing aisle and look for a handled scrubby designed for cleaning stemware. It'll be a little wide most likely, but for only $2 you can trim to fit your brand and it'll hold up a lot longer!
